Yeah, someone gave you good advice there on the hydraulic hose. That new defacer does a great job, wow. I hope you don't have any issues with the up and coming weather. Good luck and have a great week!
That new defacer looks like quite an improvement over the older model. Eliminating the chain and a couple extra bearings should make it a little more trouble free. It is always nice to have the latest and greatest but cost always plays into the equation as well.
I really appreciate your talent of explaining what you are recording in simple language. Like showing how the milking units don’t apply vacuum until attached to the cow. That sure seems like a big improvement to promote clean milk! The defacer looks like a good tool and time saver too. I know winters can double and sometimes triple your chore time. So anything that can cut labor in winter is a good investment. I used to say the only good thing about the cold winter weather on a dairy farm is “at least there are no flies”. Stay warm and think spring!😊
I don't mind cold weather too much but it does make everything on the farm a bit harder. That silage facer is the same as we have, got it about 3 years ago, been a really good unit for us.
Young man I believe that you are going to be very successful in the dairy industry. You work hard, have a good head on your shoulders and have a positive attitude. Take care and stay safe.
I gave up on buying hoses with crimped on angle ends and started buying adapters that just thread on and then a hose replacement after that is simple straight ends which are much easier to find and have on hand, and the angle adapters are more compact. God bless.
Glad to see your posted video today. I was wondering if all was ok. Gotta love good old cold winter work. The new defacer looks pretty sweet. Thanks for a great video, keep warm and see you on the next one.
Hoover brought me one of those facers spring 2023. I was inspired by your first one and was pleasantly surprised how that thing can chew through tritical and haylage! Pricey but no regrets here so far. The torque can lift the skid loader if not careful
That new Hoover defacer is ver well built. Direct drive will be much better as far as being maintenance free. Would love to see a long term demo of this.
Been running a direct drive hoover for a little over 2 years and ist been great, zero issues. Actually looked into them because of your channel and they shipped it directly to me in West Central Ohio
Great video, and very thorough explanation of things. The GEA milkers are really Surge Quarter milkers, with a bit of tuning up. The frozen 💩 in the alleys may provide more traction for the cows, but I know you have to clean them daily. New facer looks like a better design, anytime you replace a chain with direct drive you reduce a problem point.👍👍
Great work as always!! I watch you working your tail off and it is truly hard for me to imagine I did this 365 days a year, till I was 36. zero vacations,,if you're healthy,,, life is a vacation! Zero employees. God bless you and yours!
You sure have your hands full in the winter time, away different than in the summer. Your cattle look real good seems they can take the cold as well. nice demo with new modal machine.
Hi Eric and dad and families just finished watching you’re video it was excellent i enjoyed how you describe how it works and as always you are dad families be safe 🇺🇸🇺🇸
I find it fascinating that the cows know exactly what to do. When they see you, they know it's time for the morning milking and the day has started. Like kids when getting up to go to school. A routine develops and they just follow it. I would have thought they would need yelled at and prodded to get moving. Nope. They know breakfast is shortly after milking and that's probably what drives them
Awesome review of the new equipment! I knew nothing about those and now I know a bunch! Would be a wonderful addition if you get the opportunity to keep it!
Hi Eric, I am new to your channel. I really enjoy it. I had a question. Do you have to train your cows to stand still while milking? Do they kick at all? Thanks for your postings.
Hi ERIC and DAD long time watching your videos may I suggest some solars lights for SILAGE BINS run from your solar panels on your barn across to silage areas love your progress as a farmer @ dad as well from Peter 😃😄😋
There is a german brand called „Fliegel“ (I am really sure that there are also American brands) that combienes a hoover with the shovel so you don‘t have take off the hydraulics so often. This could be an alternative/upgrade for you I think. Maybe you should try. In Germany this is really common
Hello from Norway When will it be possible to order caps, hats, etc. from your website to Norway? It looks like it can only ship out in the US. With kind regards Granit A.
What is the purpose of the defacer. I know silage is packed. Just curious why you can’t just break the silage apart with the bucket. And stir it up then load it. Not saying it’s a bad thing at all. Seems like a waste of money to me

I always enjoyed milking cows but when it comes to cold weather it can be very challenging😊

Your barn is clean enough to eat lunch in there. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wonderful to see you still working hard even in the winter weather. 😊
3:46 my favorite part...squeeze play in the milking parlor!

Thanks for posting Eric. Always a pleasure to watch your videos!
3:59 Kitten! More of this little guy, please. I like seeing the dog but we never see the cats.
I was also very happy to see the kitty. 😺😸
Thanks for all the information. Handy defacer made quick work of the silage. Stay safe and keep warm.

Always good to catch something at the beginning. Eric, Isn't God amazing in blessing us in the miniscule details of our life?
Good job Eric. I like the new defacer as well.
Our rule for hoses is to always have 1 end straight. Its easier to add a 90 degree fitting after the fact.
Another Great Video 👍 Great content, keep up the great work!

Welcome. Some cows kick more than others at first, but they get used to it.
I have been looking today for others like yours and they are hard to find !!
Yes cold weather sure gives challenges on farms for sure. how you liking your new house which is insulated better than nice but old farm houses
We are very happy with the new house, easy to keep it warm.
Nice piece of equipment
Keep warm Eric.
As always another great video. Looks like those milkers keep you busy in the cold. Oh, by the way we did not have any degrees here this morning.
Looks good
Very nice and interesting video! How's the new house and family?
All good!
Love it man!!
How cold is it out side?
Today 1-21-24
Txt back when you have time
Thanks Glenn
When I first saw the new Hoover defacer I thought it looked like it would work better near the edge of the bunkers.
I’m in upstate. Owego, where bouts is the farm! Love the new house build by the way. Haven’t caught up lately
They're in east Pennsylvania.
Do the cows eat more this time of year when it's cold?
Hi Eric, it looks like things are going along. Except for the cold weather it makes things not work so well.
Hi ERIC and DAD long time watching your videos may I suggest some solars lights for SILAGE BINS run from your solar panels on your barn across to silage areas love your progress as a farmer @ dad as well from Peter 😃😄😋
Sounded like there's some backlash in the defacer. Starting and stopping made a clanging noise. Maybe a loose bolt?
Why don’t you have a sweeper brush for the front of your bobcat to deal with the slats in the barn to push the manure?
What is the reason you turn the tires up vs down in the silage bunks?
Brrrrr that’s cold. Our winter was on a Tuesday last year it got below double digits (in Celsius) 😎

do you ever use the defacer to till up a garden bed ?
i live the vides man
I didn't ask earlier whether you chopped corn using shredlage technology?
Is that freestall rake a specific make? We are looking for one similar to groom our waterbeds

Granit A.
one day i am goin to venture out your way. if possible do you allow someone to come out and help or join in the fun?
Sweet
How does the new facer run bottom to top on the silage?
I wonder if Hoover could miniaturize it? You know, for a back-scratcher.
I want a cow back scratcher mounted somewhere in my bedroom! lol
Hi, Eric!
Everything is harder in the winter time.
MEGAN SAYS MORE DIESEL PLEASE !🔥🔥😂 THANKS SIR !!
Do the fresh cows try to kick off their milkers much in a parlour?
Does defacer work on grass silage?
What times do you milk each day?.
You should look into a heater that runs on used motor oil maybe save a few bucks.
Maybe you could burn used motor oil in the heater instead of diesel? or cut it 50/50? woudl that work?
👍👍👍
And those units are super light weight

He explains the advantages at 9:38.
Use a shear grabs ,like we use in UK and Ireland .
You need radiant heat in parlor
I am sure glad that I'm not you!😅
Please do not put vidoes out late. I happen in houston mn.
