Well, in the US now more women get a PhD than men, so it shouldn't make much of a difference.
Everyone's journey is different. It's always good to see how other people do it in comparison to yourself OR if you are curious about doing one.

Madilyn Ellis hey I'm a bio and environmental science major but my friend is a biochem major. In undergrad there isn't much research especially in the beginning, we're both going into third year and haven't really done any research. As for choosing a college or university to attend it may be best to choose somewhere that may cater to that part of the sciences, however I feel like most places are the same especially in undergrad. Good luck! :)

She has had plenty of setbacks, and is recovering from one right now. Your dedication to this particular topic is something so wonderful that I cannot even describe fully (otherwise this comment would never end). Ovarian cancer needs all the research it can get considering that it is well-known to be diagnosed when it's too late, something this video also highlighted. Congratulations, Stephanie! My goodness, woman! You have worked really hard and it showed. Congratulations on getting your Ph.D. - you deserve it! Also, it's crazy motivating to see that you did all of this while still making time to workout. Can't wait to see what you do next.

Watching this whole thing through got me slightly teary-eyed! I'm not in science (currently applying to law school) but it was so inspiring seeing how you poured your heart and soul into your PhD and still managed to balance life (friends, family & fitness). Would love for you to do more videos sharing your journey into getting your PhD. Congrats Dr. Buttermore!!

I’m defending my PhD thesis in less than 2 weeks. Your video is such a real document. It reminded me what I have done in the last two months and prepares me for the upcoming defense. I was also going through a lot of stress on job hunting. Good luck!

Yo, make more science videos! There so interesting. Almost graduating out of chemical engineering, but my alternative was something in biology like what you're doing. The field is so interesting, i always loved the lab setting.

This is such an excellent recap of the dissertation defense process. It also reminds me of when I worked on my Ph.D. at USF. A few of my lab mates and I lived in the same apartment complex as you. This video brought back so many good memories for me. So happy that I stumbled upon it.

Congrats Steph!! The best part about science that I've always found is it's ability to directly impact people's lives for the better. Looking forward to seeing what your work will do in contributing to early detection of ovarian cancer.
