I bought a EF ECOFLOW RIVER Pro Portable Power Station 720Wh. It likes to shut down on low loads, USB charging for example. It may turn off before your power bank or cell phone charges. That is okay with me. I bought this for running freezer, fans, fridge, LED lights (not all at the same time). It charges quickly and is portable. Portability is the key for me when it comes to the smaller units.
I like the Fire tablets for exactly what you said. I also have my Samsung tablets that I use as e-book readers. Bigger screens, no ads, completely customizable interface when using AL Reader.

Nice! I really wish more manufacturers would manage the DC load control better. I realize they are trying to minimize parasitic draw on the battery pack by automatically shutting down to save power if the load is small. It can be a major inconvenience though when you are using items that cycle on/off regularly and the power station shuts itself down during an "off" cycle. I understand why they don't though. Building that feature into the circuit requires a bit of fuzzy logic/highly tuned algorithm which costs extra $ It's easier to just have it cut off so the energy isn't wasted leaving it empty when someone pulls it off the shelf after 6 months and it is dead because they accidentally left it on the last time it was used.
Yeah, tablets are a low cost, low energy way to keep important documents handy and keep people busy with movies, etc. during downtime.
      Take care and be safe!

Tanks for the video. A little long and wordy but interesting, especially the info about the golabs. I have one and as you said it’s identical. FYI the cig plug auto turns off after a few hours on mine. Not good for the 12v blanket you mentioned or an 12v cooler.

Thanks CM! I'm definitely weak in my scripting and editing. I even cut out a bunch of content where I thought I was running on too long! I'll take it as constructive criticism and work on it.
I thought I read the DC voltage has to drop to a certain level for a period before it turns off completely. With a constant draw, I would hope it would stay on until the LifePo4 battery dropped off a cliff and the BMS cut it off. I definitely believe you, just find it interesting it would cut off under a constant (and substantial) load.
Yeah, I suppose if you fell asleep with it on, once you cooled down you'd wake up eventually. Might actually even be better to let it time out/turn off while you're asleep in the bag to conserve some power. The sleeping bag would retain the heat for a while. Once your body cooled to the point of waking you up, you could crank it up again. I might have to give that a shot this fall/winter to see what happens.
      Stay safe!

Do you think this would make a good battery back-up for an oil furnace? We are looking for something to plug in during an emergency or possibly leave it connected as a continuous back-up.

Hmmm.. I honestly don't know much about oil furnaces. there should be information on the furnace somewhere (usually a plate or decal) with the power required to operate. It may require a certain amount to run, and a several times that to start up. If you can't find the info, I would contact the manufacturer and ask. Most will provide that info when asked.

Great video! I recently lost my wall adapter well camping. Having a hard time finding a replacement online, If you have any recommendations of what i should buy, or can use to charge my Golabs R300. Would be very thankful!

I would buy an AC/DC charger with multiple barrel connectors. They are about 12-15 dollars on Amazon. I believe you need a 15V 3.2A Center + Outer - barrel connector (not sure of the diameter). Get as close as you can to those specs for the best charging experience. It may take longer at slightly lower V or A.

Do you by any chance know how to restart the device? I bought it, charged it once to full, then left It for around a day, it started beeping (probably was about to get empty), so I put it on charge again, then I noticed the dashboard shows 0 percent and the battery flashing. Stayed that way and did not change even after around 6 hours of charging. Now I cannot shut it down or restart it (after holding POWER/DC the screen goes blank and then gets back up to the same screen). Kept it this way for around a few days with the dashboard blinking, but cannot get AC to work, cannot do anything with it. Plugging in the INPUT does not change its behavior. BTW mine's DLNRG D320. Appreciate any info about this as the manual is rubbish.

I apologize, I've been away for a while. I'll try to take a look at my unit and see if there is a reset sequence/option. I'll try to get back to you asap but am going through a few issues around the house right now. AC/Breaker panel issues... If you've figured it out, please let me know.

Yes the buttons can be muted so it's silent when you press anything.

It's hard to believe that the slow cooker uses as much power on high as a standard light bulb used to.

    • @thetechieprepper
      @thetechieprepper  Před rokem

I apologize for the late reply. Life has been crazy lately. Yes, I remember my sisters easy bake oven used a light bulb to "bake" little brownies. Filament light bulbs are very inefficient and if engineered properly, 100 watts can offer a surprising amount of cooking power :-)
