Classical Music serious music following long - established principles rather than a folk, jazz, or popular tradition. Music written in the European tradition during a period lasting approximately from 1750 to 1830, when forms such as the symphony, concerto, and sonata were standardized.
B. Sivaramakrishna Rao is a musical genius to reckon with in Chennai. A child prodigy with tuneful genes, he has built on natural musical endowments to evolve into a multifariously talented performer and composer. A master of the queen of musical instruments, the Sitar, he plays Thyagaraja kritis with as much panache as a Hindustani Gat. This enables him to accompany an Padma Vibhushan Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna with the same verve and ease as he would entrance the audience of Hindustani Music. His playing is marked by a perfect balance of gayaki vocal and tantrikari (instrumental) styles.

@@abhishektyagi9013 Well, nothing worth knowing is easy to understand. There's also the saying "nothing worth learning or doing is easy". It takes effort, and people who have learned Hindustani music whether from privileged backgrounds, middle-class backgrounds, less privileged backgrounds have had to go through intense training, failure, training, and hurdles and more training. And people who have learned to enjoy it and engage with it have also put in several years of dedication to learn and hardwork. I don't see this as "privileged vs unprivileged" or "musically intelligent vs being a musical dullard". Rather, if one is interested and has time to pursue a hobby, then one can, while being a non-musician, still learn it and understand it.

My love of Indian classical music has not come from any place of difficulty. What my mind doesn't understand, my deeper sense does. The gaps are always filled in somehow between my lack of technical knowledge and an inherent understanding that comes from somewhere in my heart/spirit...I am not Indian but I thank every great Indian musician who has ever lived, for being the receptive and diligent translators of the messages that come through their music, that are clearly imminating from their souls and from the Universe itself.
