    Only bad thing about the UDR when it comes to fixing or upgrading is all the damn screws lol!

    Hey driving my udr noticed my front wheels weren’t spinning so I lost all power to the front wheels hoping this will fix it after I replace my front center driveshaft

    Glad you got it fixed 👍 I would have to agree a hollow plastic driveshaft is pretty lame lol

    Looks crazy to work on these

      Yeah, I don’t enjoy working on it. I believe the official way to replace that part is to disassemble the entire front end. I cringe at the thought of having to access the front diff someday. Major tear down to get to it.

    how the hell you get the set screw out of the drive shaft

    to have a weak point in the drive train it would be a lot better to have it a lot more accessible eg some thing in the rear not the front of it.

      @tmmtmm Před 5 lety

      always going to be a weak point in the drivetrain. If you make that shaft bulletproof something else will probably break.

    Why cant you unplug the motor wires ?

    Very surprised how wimpy that driveshaft is! It looks so thin. Great how to vid though. I'm sure it'll help many UDR owners!

      Thanks. Yeah me too. I’m ok with making a cheap part break first but they should have made it easy to replace!

    A small metal pin that fit snug inside would strengthen the front drive shaft substantially, because it couldn't twist up enough to snap sideways like it did. But aftermarket is easier

    Just an Idea?, the plastic piece that broke is hollow, is it possible to fill it with a metal shaft/dowel or maybe even fill it with an epoxy so it can’t collapse in on itself and break as easily? Great video bro! 👍👊👌🍻

    • @netcruzer
      @netcruzer  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes I likely could have epoxied the broken shaft together. You just need to leave enough room to mate the shaft to the input gear. If I break it again I just might try that. JB Weld to the rescue!

    • @rcwreck-creation
      @rcwreck-creation Před 5 lety

      Cool! Thanks for the reply brother. Sorry, what I meant was to fill the new hollow part with something as a pre-fab not a fix for the broken part? Once it’s broken, it probably wouldn’t be a fix that lasts very long bro? It is frustrating that they would make that part plastic & hollow? There’s no logic that I can think of that would support that piece being plastic & hollow? Anyways I hope you don’t need to do that repair again any time soon my friend. 😎👊👍🍻

    • @tmmtmm
      @tmmtmm Před 5 lety

      yeah if it breaks again try filling the replacement with JB weld before installing

    Great video very informative. That’s crazy they put plastic in there specially for the price of that rig. That’s what you call making money on parts

    You do not have to remove servo to do front drive shaft

    • @netcruzer
      @netcruzer  Před 3 lety

      Not this way. It’s tight but can be done without ripping the front end totally apart.

    Should’ve spent the extra money to upgrade it to metal Traxxas just want you to spend more money plain and simple

    funnily enough, traxxas now sells a metal front drive shaft because they know this breaks. hmmmmm

      Launching an RC car meters in the air and landing hard over and over, something is eventually going to give up. The UDR seems pretty stout from what I've seen. If this is the only thing that breaks every once in a while I'd be pretty happy with it.
