    Almost all of the complaints of inconsistencies that you mentioned in this has been explained in past crossovers or on the show since. Since it's pretty clear you don't keep up with the show or comics, I can understand how that could be frustrating. But just so everyone knows almost all of the things that you complained about was already explained in the Canon like way back. It'd be sort of like somebody jumping into superhero without watching DBS and not understanding anything.

    JJ debuted in the Soul of the Dragon comic book that Jason David Frank worked with Boom Studios on before he passed away. JJ was in "Dimensions in Danger" In Power Rangers Ninja Steel briefly. Where in the comic JJ is older who has joined SPD. Tommy has the Master Morpher that allows him not only turn into the Green Mighty Morphin Ranger but his other ranger forms that he used in the Dimemsions in Danger. I'm not shocked as i suspected they were going to use archival voice recordings from previous episodes of PR to make up for the actors who didn't want to be involved in the special. Including Jason who wanted to focus on Legend of The White Dragon, It didn't help that one of the showrunners called JDF a helmet head during the fliming of Dimemsion in Dangers. A stright up disrespect to the man himself and i don't blame Jason for not wanting to do it.
    I don't buy the whole age thing, that's all bs. We all know the real reason why Tommy and the others were gone based on behind the scenes drama bs going on. JDF wanted to leave and Saban fires the other actors except Blake Foster at that time. Power Rangers has always had strange continuity issues. Even Forever Red doesn't make any sense but it's a fun watch. Ill take that over most PR related stuff nowadays. Nowadays it's souless and not very interesting these days compared to Super Sentai who at least they're doing new things to improve it unlike PR is getting worst every decade now.

    Zack didn’t contradict himself. He told her the first time she shouldn’t morph because she only wanted revenge and there’s a difference between revenge and justice. Later on she selflessly took the bullet for Billy and that activated it. Further, Rita said she has to put all her power into that death spell, it would be hard to get all the rangers with something slow moving like that. And Zack resigned from Congress to take care of Minh as her legal guardian just because he’s a good guy, nothing more complicated than that. I think the show did a much better job than one would usually expect from MMPR to tie all these loose ends together.

    Based off of how Zack and Billy were caring for Minh I guess they are suppose to be her godfathers. Kind of like a Joey and Uncle Jesse from Full House type of situation. As for Zack changing his mind about Minh morphing I think it was because he saw the morpher started activating/glowing signifying that it officially linked with her as the new Yellow Ranger(cause earlier in the show it didn’t work when she attempted to morph). That was essentially the green light as to whether she was ready or not.

    Zack changed his mind about Minh becoming a ranger when the Morphin grid accepted her because it also signaled that she had righteous motivations and not vengeance; plus she just almost died saving Billy so she was going to fight either way and he realized that. And before Mecha-Bandora blasted Trini she made a comment about that blast being worth the massive amount of her energy. So even if she could have done another one I think it’s made clear that she couldn’t have popped off 6 in a row; aside from the fact that losing rangers makes it harder for her to power her machine.

And I feel like “the bad “ or cheesiness was very intentional.also it’s a shame JDF couldn’t be a part of this but tbh I don’t think it needed him in the end or the other left out rangers. Jdf specifically has came back more than any ranger in other series already. If this took itself too seriously I don’t feel like it would’ve been power rangers cause that’s just not what PR is. Also a couple of gripes ppl have can be explained by later seasons of power rangers Ngl. They kept this well in continuity with current stuff from what I read up on. Also genuinely chuckled and screamed in excitement at a lot of this. Genuinely some cool stuff and glad it was about a hour rather than the usual 23 or so minutes

    Just finished it , it was a solid 7 out of 10 for me. The acting was ruff in the beginning, the story was solid but kinda goofy at times. It desperately needed JDF , Austin and Amy Jo but I guess Netflix budget wasn't big enough for em. All in all they could definitely build off of this , for a Netflix exclusive show if they wanted too. Also I don't think Jason , Tommy & Kimberly is getting captured that easily and them being mute most of the time was terrible Netflix should have hired some voice actors just to not make the scenes before them getting captured awkward.

      @jerelminter Před rokem +1

      JDF turned it down, because he was working on his own superhero movie that would've been Power Rangers had he was allowed to do it. It's called The Legend Of The White Dragon, as far as Austin St John goes, he got in trouble with the law during the late spring of last year before this was made in New Zealand. So he couldn't leave the USA while still under investigation, Amy Jo Johnson said "she didn't want to wear spandex in her 50's" but that was not what she originally wrote. Her initial response was : "I never said no, but didn't say yes to what was offered" so the fans speculated it was a money dispute, or creative differences.

    Ok, so I have some thoughts to add to your review:
    1. JJ and Kat: This was more of an Easter egg and nod to fans. It has been implied through previous episodes that Kat and Tommy had married. JJ is their son and was in the Boom Studios graphic novel Soul of the Dragon (I think that's what it is called) and the 25th anniversary special in Ninja Steel. It was a way of confirming to fans that yes, Kat and Tommy are together and also making the graphic novel canon.
    2. Minh and Zack and Billy acting like father figures: This was explained in the episode. I think we are supposed to assume Trini was a single parent and Minh had no other family (the former was implied and the latter confirmed). Zack stopped being a congressman in order to look after and take care of Minh.
    3. Billy aging: When they wrote him off they explained when he arrived in Aquata (or however it is spelled) that he had been cured and returned to his young self. He stayed as he fell in love.
    4. The rangers having their powers and being back: I just assumed Billy contacted them after resurrecting Rita and they returned. It has already been established in previous episodes that they can use their powers.

When she was willing to sacrifice herself to protect the others, and the Saber-tooth Tiger morpher recognised her for it, I believe he had no more objections
    This shouldn't have been done like this. Instead of a special of 60 minutes or so, this should have been a mini-series of four or five episodes, give more time to explain a few things and give everyone more screen time.

    Some of the creative decisions were definitely forced and not made with good storytelling in mind; personally, I would think Robo-Rita would have been created by Lord Zedd and Scrozzle (an enemy in Beast Morphers), both of whom are the current threat to the most recent team of PR in Dino Fury/Cosmic Fury, this would set up a natural pathway for MMPR cameos in Cosmic Fury in the fight against Lord Zedd. Also, the whole power coin thing makes no sense as in the last season of Dino Fury, it is explained that the Green Morphin Master restored the powers of all past rangers back during the Legendary Battle seen in Super Megaforce, so Kat and Rocky should already have their own power coins, Rocky was also seen using those powers during the Ninja Steel crossover while Jason was shown using them in Beast Morphers.
    P.S. Cranston is Billy's last name, which was a decision made to honor Bryan Cranston's contributions to the show voicing a variety of one-off villains.

    I'm still on the fence because. The film is using Trini passing for the plot. I do think their hearts are in the right places. The cast of MMP did care about Thuy Trang
    The photo of Thuy Trang they used for the funeral. That's the same photo the family used for Thuy's actual funeral.
    Again, I'm just saying and might check it out once I get some free time.

    Felt as though this should've been episodic like Cobra Kai on Netflix but then other than Minh's character development where do they go from there after Robo Rita? They could've tied this series in with Cosmic Fury If they needed more backup to deal with Zedd. Then again that probably would've required a bigger paycheck from the Legacy Rangers continuing to film in New Zealand when they just want to move on with their lives but not the 80's Karate Kid cast though!

    I enjoyed this special but a lot of things in this require you to watch the more recent seasons from the past 10-15 years to understand why they are still rangers and some of the things that are believed to be plot holes were either rerconed or expanded upon the comics/future seasons so I can understand of people are confused at some parts

  • @SSJ491

    It was phenomenal Mighty Morphin Power Rangers special. I enjoyed it, and I was in a memory of nostalgia of remembering watching Power Rangers on Fox Kids from my childhood years in the 1990s and early 2000s. Rita Repulsa killed Trinie (Yellow Power Ranger) in season 2 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and Zordon...sigh, he made the ultimate sacrifice by saving the Power Rangers, Alpha, and the commander room from Lord Zedd, and Rita Repulsa. Yeah, there were plotholes, and the CGI battle between the robot lizard and the Megazord was...definitely not a highly qualified scene (they should kept it in a '90s style look) and it doesn't look right. The cast are back (Aisha, Rocky, Zack, Katherine, Adam, and Billy), and I am happy that there in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers 30th anniversary special. But I do missed Jason David Frank (aka Tommy Oliver; the Green Power Ranger, and the White Power Ranger), and Trinie Trang (Yellow Power Ranger)...I wished they be there, but sadly...yeah. But I enjoyed the special as a adult.

    I thought it was 'Decent at Best', like not too bad but not that good either. I was also conflicted/mixed as well, the only few things I disagree with is that the Actress who played Trini's Daughter was trying too hard when it comes to Martial Arts Choreography and... I thought the CG Zords looked way better than MMPR 1995's CG Zords especially when Wild Force happened that CG Animation is just too cartoony (I'm pretty sure that is from Toei too).

    Was it great cinema ? No. Their heart was in the right place. I grew up watching the og cast and Thuy passing always hit me hard. It was good to honor her legacy in this show after so many years.
    I see zack flip flopping more so to do with Minh being hell bent on revenge which is against ranger principle. When she took the shot for Billy it unlocked her morpher and Zack knew then that Minh knew what it meant to be a ranger. The morpher chose her and Zack let her take her mothers place on the team.

  • @nworder4life
    @nworder4life Před rokem

    Robo Rita more like a retcon than a plot hole because Zordon's energy wave was supposed to destroy the evil, not carry it away. Anyway I have no idea about JJ cause I don't read the comics, but I do remember an episode where at the very end Tommy and Kat were old and reading to their grandchildren. So the two of them having a son seems to be in line with the show's canon.

      @jerelminter Před rokem

      He said Zyuranger, but it's pronounced "jew-ranger". That's the name of MMPR when it was shown in Japan, before it got its American adaptation. The clips shown of the Rangers when they're the Rangers were taken from that show and spliced into the scenes with the American actors. So when you're seeing the Rangers morphed, it's actually the Japanese show that you're looking at.
