    Definitely adding those silicone bowls to my Amazon wish list. Love silicone kitchen ware, too! How cool is the collapsible salad spinner?! 😲 Saw it a few weeks ago and couldn't put them on my wish list fast enough. Along with silicone collapsible measuring cups and strainers. I even scoped out a silicone (not collapsible) 4 cup measuring cup.

      We got the Joseph Joseph Nesting bowls as a wedding gift so they are a bit sentimental... and still very space saving for us as they are bowls and cups in one.. the spoons are heart shaped, so we're kinda partial to those too LOL BUt yes all things collapsible we generally love in our RV!

    • @SMafam5
      @SMafam5 Před rokem

      Collapsible has it’s place (sea to summit for example) but for those of us in trailers I find nesting especially anything stainless steel will last way longer, easier to scrub clean (pop into dishwasher when back home), and less time expanding/collapsing. MSR SS bowls nest well. We tend to live outside - outside cooking so the indestructibility of stainless steel makes it a worthwhile investment. I also love Joseph Joseph’s nesting containers with matching coloured snap lids.

      Hello La'Tice, Thank you. So glad that you love watching our videos. I looked everywhere I know of to try to find where we found those silicone bowls, but can't find it, and can't even find similar on amazon. the plates and bowls are Corelle. They stack nice and are relatively light weight, and are durable, but if they do break, they shatter into tiny pieces. They work great in a smooth riding Class A coach, but probably would not be as good of a fit for a travel trailer. I have that Cuisinart knife set with covers and they are great for use in the RV. Great tips for storing your silicone item in the unused oven, my Motorhome doesn't even have a conventional oven, just a microwave/convection unit. • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 6 lety +1

      I just downloaded the manual online (faster than finding in my RV LOL) and followed the instructions. Some will tell you to modify the cooking time/temp is using a convection, but I just do it exactly the same as a conventional recipe/oven and have never had an issue. For example, if a recipe calls for 10 mins at 350F, I preheat at 350 and cook for 10mins and everything works out great! I have cooked turkey breast, key lime pie, pumpkin pie, cookies, cakes etc. Hope that helps!

    • @debmarie55
      @debmarie55 Před 6 lety

      RVLove | Marc & Julie Bennett Thank you, it does help. I'm a little intimidated by it, so I guess I'll start with some simple and see how that goes. Not having a conventional oven was almost a deal breaker, but we liked the motorhome so much that I said I could live with it. We have a sticks and bricks home base in the summer, but travel to warmer climates during the colder months. In 2017, we were somewhere other than our sticks and bricks for 8 months of the year, and this year it will be about 7 months.

      @Rvlove  Před 6 lety +1

      Most of our items stay in place while driving. Larger class A coaches ride very smooth. travel trailers, especially those hitched to bumpers instead of 5th wheel have much more movement. We make sure cabinets are closed, and learn how to put things in places that they don't move much. We also use little rubbery shelf inserts to keep dishes from sliding.

    • @workingtorelax1223
      @workingtorelax1223 Před 6 lety

      RVLove | Marc & Julie Bennett ya my travel trailer dose not have much that moves when we tow it. Only thing is a stack of plastic cups in the kitchen that fall out at me and the medicine cabinet that nothing stays. That’s also behind our axels and that’s where a lot of things move in towable units is the front and rear.

    What size Instant Pot do you use in your RV? Also, I am very excited to see you have a bread maker. I bake a LOT at home and was about to give away my bread maker because I don't use it at home but now maybe I will give it another chance in our travel trailer. Of course then I will have to figure out how to take along my flours. How do you store flours for your bread making?

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 5 lety

      Hi Joan. I started with a 6QT Instant Pot and love it. But it can be a bit big so I bought a 3QT which I also love! I can't bear to give either of them up, so am lucky in our current (new to us) 40 motorhome we have the space and weight capacity to keep both - and I use them both! I think most couples could get by easily with the 3qt... whereas a 6qt is good for families. Oh and mine is a 1lb breadmaker and i just buy Pamela's breadmix which i get in a big 4lb bag. Hope that helps! We just bought that off of Amazon. I think it was made by Brita. We hear good things about Berkey filters. But, in our current motorhome, we installed an Acuva water purification system. It uses Ultra Violet light and filters to make very safe water, and doesn't take up much counter space. Here is a link to Acuva for more information. acuvatech.com/ -M

      We have one spare set of sheets stored above the bed. No extra quilts/comforters as we have no need.

    Great video. I would love to know what you have removed, from the whole trailer, through the years. Things you thought you needed but did not actually use.

      Great question Brenda! We started out with a handheld kitchen mixer then put it back in storage at Marc's mom's... but then I ended up re-buying one on Amazon when I realized I wanted / needed it to make a dessert pie. We started out without a toaster but ended up buying a small, light cheap one at our first Walmart stop across the country! LOL. I put my heavy wooden knife block back into storage as I prefer the ones with blade covers. We swapped out our saucepans for a nesting Magma set which I love and reviewed here czcams.com/video/axhaBWKA4VE/video.html and started out with a setting for 6 of the Corelle dishware (keeping in mind there are 5 parts per setting) but offloaded 2 so now have a setting for 4 which is perfect. I think that's about it - we did a pretty good job of paring down our kitchenware before hitting the road, but often review (at least twice a year). Hope that helps!

    Great to hear a fellow Aussie has the Vegemite handy! I live in France so have to get future bnb guests to bring some (Keens Mustard and Curry powders and Cherry Ripes) over for me. I'll be stocking up before I hit the road in my RV in the US next March. I imagine you can't buy it over there can you?

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 3 lety

      Most of our can goods and non-perishables are stored in cabinets above and below our tv. But we don't carry a lot of those items in this RV since it doesn't have a lot of weight carrying capacity. -M

    I have a question. Did you bake much in your sticks and bricks? Did it take you long to get used to the convection microwave? I do a lot of baking - bread, muffins, pies, cookies, biscuits, pizza etc. I’ve thought that I wanted an RV oven and it surprised me that you were not using the oven in your RV. I would think that it would be good when you are boondocking because you can’t use the convection unless you have power from a generator or solar energy. Anyway, I’d like to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks.

    • @Rvlove
      @Rvlove  Před 6 lety +2

      Hi Julie, I used to bake a fair amount in our S&B. For a while I was scared to use the convection as I had no idea how but it's SUPER easy, now I love it! I first tried cooking in our convection while DRIVING czcams.com/video/pwBfKPAB0eo/video.html - you can see how it turned out in this short video. I did use the regular propane oven a few times but it was such a pain to get everything out, light it, have stuff around the rv and wait for it too cool before putting it all back... and the results in the convection are more consistent, it's just way simpler. I rarely if ever use the convection when boondocking.. maybe one day. We are often in warm places and it heats the RV up unnecessarily... if I did want to however I could run the genny for an hour or so, it's not that big of a deal. Hope that helps!

      RVLove | Marc & Julie Bennett yes, thanks for the explanation. It makes a lot of sense. I have 2 instant pots that I use for baking potatoes in the summer rather than heating the house with the oven right now.

      RVLove | Marc & Julie Bennett just found you guys and been watching like crazy. Bit different for us as in Canada and don’t want to go state side for next few years. So different rules as for medical province to province and weather.lol. Plus we were all set to do this 2 yrs ago and breast cancer deemed I stay here for at least 3 years. So 1.5 to go, all clear so far. Lol however our daughter is due for first baby after trying for 8 yrs this September... now feeling tad guilty leaving even though as hubby says we have to medically be back for 5 months a yr.. quality vs quantity....🤔

    I like the tips and gadgets! But to say that is limited space is funny... That kitchen is bigger than my kitchen at home. I think you just have too much stuff!
    Now that is just my opinion, A full serving set is not needed in an RV, but that is your choice. I just would not call it tiny home or limited space.
    Again, though, good tips and tricks for people who have a large motorhome with alot of things.

    • @Rvlove
