- This was Chaka's first solo outing and it came courtesy of Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson who wrote almost all the songs on Diana Ross's solo debut album. The song and melody had been kicking around a while, and when Chaka became the focus, the song was finished and given as a gift to her. Valerie says that she was glad that Chaka sang "I'm Every Woman" long and not short since it really built up the tension when she finally finished the phrase. The single version was the album version and mysteriously there never was an extended version of the original song until now. So here is my mega mix of Chaka's "I'm Every Woman"...I hope you enjoy it! keep on dancing!

This album was such a classic. People were so thrilled she would do a solo album--even those of us who love Rufus too! The album was fantastic, the songs great, even the album art was so unique and cool for the time. And as always Chaka's vocals were off the charts. Love Has Fallen on me, Some Love and Love Has Fallen on Me were so amazing

Spectacular mix! I love the feedback/delay you added. Reminds me so much of those radio station mastermixes from back in the early 80's. Many of them had that "double take" effect of the instruments,percussion sounds or vocals. Really awesome job,Disco Cat!
Thanks! I really appreciate your positive comment. There was not a lot to work with to extend so I got into the catnip and this is what came out (after several starts and stops). I love Chaka! I try to keep the song organic, using only similar sounds and parts of the song itself so that it would accurately reflect an extended version that would have been released at that time.....
