Kym is going to singlehandedly raise the Budapest GP prices haha
I wield incredible influence
We are going to Budapest next year for the Grand Prix. Can’t wait. Kym your content about it was an influence although have been watching the race there on TV for many years. We will try the Kempenski.
Combining with Spa for the double header.
Both races are a great value.
Also Qatar and Bahrain deserve a mention, they both have an abundance of cheap hotels, uber is pretty cheap and you can find cheap eats too. Also both don't sell out so you can get general admission tickets on the cheap side
Except they're in the desert in dry countries with shit atmospheres.
Having been to Austin for the inaugural race and 2 subsequent years, I absolutely love sitting on turn 12, you can see 90% of the circuit while being in the braking zone after long back straight. Then up close on the stadium section. Bring sunscreen as you will need it. 🏁🏁
I think I will just stay home and watch the races on F1TV for $80 USD per year.
permission granted
I went to Budapest this year and I paid £342 for 3 days at the ibis hotel, about £8 per day to get to the circuit (it is quite easy to use public transport but when returning you need to walk to the train station, waiting the free shuttle at the circuit was a nightmare). Flying to Budapest can get expensive but I paid £70 in a flight from Vienna to London + £25 for the train between Budapest and Vienna. My ticket was £215 silver 5 grandstand in front of the last corner of the circuit. It was fine to get inside carrying snacks and even some drinks).
good to hear
I miss the Malaysia GP. Cheap tickets and close to Perth. They do the Moto GP well too.
I don't miss the heat
Mine too. Reasonable prices all round.
For Budapest flights look at wizz air easy jet and Ryanair will be like £20 each way and only 80 minutes direct from London
Wizz from Luton is the way to go............not from Heathrow, any Brit knows that
It depends on where you life. I feel Zandvoort is the cheapest option for me, considering I don’t need accommodation, and I can go by train (or bike) to the event. Just need the tickets and they are mostly the same price anywhere.
Alternatively SPA is an option, and going camping is the budget friendly solution. Like most of the orange army do. I do understand that if you need accommodation here, it can be expensive. But NOT if you know where to look. Just choose a city further away from Zandvoort but reachable by train within the hour.
Leiden or The Hague are probably the best option, considering they have the quickest train ride to Haarlem, from where you can easily go to Zandvoort.
Hi) Thank you very much for this advice. I am new in the Netherlands, so it is good to know that here the circuit is so well connected by the public transport.
Great video Kym! I went to the Qatar GP and spent a total of £1400.
I flew direct from Manchester to Doha on Thursday and stayed at the Hampton by Hilton hotel in Doha old town which was £400 for 4 nights.
I was at turn 3 grandstand for all 3 days which was £225.
My direct flight cost was £650.
I then spent about £100 on food, drinks and the metro to and from the track.
£1400 was great value as i got a good grandstand and a decent hotel and getting to fly with Qatar Airways was a joy even just in economy.
Ive got one more tip, probably the best, try being a Marshal for the race.
1. Ive been able to make friends that host us and i host them when they come over. So you dont spend on accomodation.
2. You will pretty much be fed for two/3 meals so you dont have to spend too much for food.
3. No tickets needed except for flights to and fro the host country and back home.
Well theres pro and cons to it but ive been able to spend less and experience more so not much complains from myself.
I went to the 2021 Ausitn race. There is tons of privtae parking lots closer to the circuit for way less then the offical ones. Also recommend staying in Barstop. A little farther from the track but since you're heading the opposite way of traffic you can get right out!
Hey Kym! Awesome video. I happened to do some solo travelling and I stayed at the Flow Hostel in Budapest. Location is excellent. The facilities and accommodation is ok but if anyone is only interested in the bed, then that works. I must disclose that the hostel is only accessible via. 4 sets of stairs and is quite unsafe and won't work for those with disabilities or health issues.
thanks for the heads up
Hello Kym your review of all the three races cheapest is very helpful for budget travellers and advance info like this really is a blessing for those who have budgets and can plan very well. Ofcourse other circuits may have cheaper hotels and travel facilities i guess but your suggestions are not too bad as well. Keep up the good work cheers.Gowra
thanks
Thanks for sharing.
You bet
Great information
Not sure if I am only in this thought or if you have done a video about it already but I would love to see a video of what your average expenses are I think that would be interesting
Surely Wizz air can do London-Budapest for like £20 bought in advance
the day I priced it, that was the cheapest
Love this kind of content !!!
good to know
Japan would also be a good choice for fans coming from Southeast Asia and Australia/New Zealand. Plenty of low-cost carriers go to Japan, and some go directly to Nagoya's Chubu Centrair Airport, so that cuts down on transit to Suzuka.
Thank you Kym!! This is great but please don’t forget Canada!! Are you able to do comparison of it too! I’m on the West Coast so please don’t forget air fare! ❤
should do a version where you ignore flight costs as it varies for everyone. Just factor in hotel, travel, food and ticket.
Just purchased ticket for the Singapore night race.. travelling from Melbourne to Singapore.. cheaper than I thought so looking forward to it.. How’s the No Sugar going? 😊
7:00 - Part of that sign says, "Premium Chicken." FamilyMart does have tasty chicken and other items.
Years ago, I lived about 14km from Haneda Airport and would ride my bicycle there for plane spotting. Nice place.
Austin budget tip-stay in San Antonio which is about one hour and 15 minutes away. The hotels there don’t have the F1 tax. They are pretty much regular price.
Austin used to be cheap. I paid about $200 for a 4 day GA ticket 6 years ago which included concerts by Taylor Swift and Usher. And the shuttle from downtown was free.
Very grateful for this video
cheers
You can park in people's lawns. It's usually a around 30 dollars. At Austin
This was super insightful with COTA just two weeks away! I was wondering how busy Turn 1 was going to be, and I don’t do well in huge crowds since I’m short, so maybe Turn 11 is the place for me! We were at COTA earlier this year for GT racing, and though I do love the elevation at Turn 1, I don’t think I’ll be able to see anything come race day. Maybe I’ll try my luck on Friday though!
it will be packed
I was a track marshal in turn 1 last year and it was amazing to get there Sunday morning and to just take in how quiet it was and then 35 min. later when the gates opened the entire hillside as full of people running and scrambling trying to get a great spot. I will be working near turn 11 this year.
I guess I need to try IN and OUT. Had aa bad experience day at Whataburger recently. They went from family to corporate ownership.
You need to do a video like this for every track!
see my race by race guides at Kymillman.com
Also discovered ship biscuits on a trip to Japan in Jan this year! So good.
they're an institution with my family. Bought 4 packs in Osaka to take home for my wife. Only 1 ended up in her hands.
Haha I completely understand!
Thanks so much for your reply. Made my day.
Kym, nice video. What about if your a Brit going to Silverstone???
About 500
For snacks in Japan, always go for onigiri : ) best cheap lunches you can get
How is London to Budapest flight so expensive I think you made a confusing here
cheapest flight the day I looked on google flights
Thank God I live in Montreal, 20$ for a weekend transit pass or just grab my bike if it's sunny, make my own snack and I just need to find a couple of tickets on the resell market close to the race :P
Being from South Africa, the cheapest is on my couch watching the Sky feed...... With R19 to a US$ there is no cheap trip to watch a GP, so no normal middle class guy that works for his money can't afford it.....
I live in Chicago which is 2 hours from Road America a 4 mile road course, Every year I go there for Indy Car IMSA and NASCAR Races, tickets average $80 dollars on Race Day, This includes in track parking and you can bring in the track your own food and beverages, You can walk around the track and check out all the turns, I don't think I will be going to Austin , I follow F1 and watch your channel and Highlights.
What would be a good 2024 option traveling from the Netherlands?
There are multiple daily flights between Budapest and London operated by WizzAir and Ryanair, but they fly out from Luton or Gatwick, not Heathrow. it is not worth to fly with the Serbian company and have such a long layover.
Budapest put on a free bus each way to and from the track.
good info. but i still need to fly home sir lol.
Just went to Suzuka!! It’s definitely much cheaper than my home race of Austin. (I’m from California by the way)
evening. how did you find the language barrier? were you ok getting public transport to & from the track etc. i loved to go but maybe it’s difficult getting around? thanks
language is no real drama with an iPhone@@markhitachi
@@markhitachias Kym said, it’s not bad if you have Google translate but they have a lot of English because they know tourism is huge for F1. I stayed in Nagoya and took a train to Suzuka. Just be prepared to go to trains EARLY because the platforms were packed by 9am on race day. And the line to get back into the train to leave Suzuka to Nagoya took us 2-3 hours. Just prepared to wait in a FEMA-like camp as everyone waits for the train home. People are lovely and helpful- whether the Japanese folks or other travelers watching the race. We got to know our neighbors in line really well haha
Although my lifelong dream has been to attend an F1 race the prices these days in the US are outrageous. Besides, I get a better view from the TV without spending a penny, but miss the noise and smell of rubber burning 🙂
I live in Austin Texas and here’s what I spent : GA ticket for Sunday :$270, Senna T-shirt :$70, parking :$40, 6 beers and a Moscow Mule :$100, Food :$100 , water :$12 . It’s expensive for locals but I did grow up watching F1 . Let’s do it again next year
Mosport and The Glen were a real bargain in the seventies!
A three-night stay in a double-bed Nagoya hotel from April 5th, when the 2024 Japanese Grand Prix will be held, cost US$275.96.
Flights to Budapest can go way cheaper Kym, you are able to take a return flight for about €100 with a budget airliner like Wizz Air or with some luck for €20 with Ryanair, allthough you need to depart from London Gatwick or Luton. So even cheaper than auggested 😮
That was the cheapest Google flights threw up for that day
@@KymIllman understandable, those budgetairlines don't have their flights listed on Google. Anyways, great video!
I saw another vid that said Bahrain had the cheapest tickets. Do you have a suggestion on where to on the track to sit for Bahrain?
in airconditioning
For me Las Vegas is the cheapest.
I'm a truck driver and the company has a terminal in Vegas.😅😅😅
Kym, speaking of Austin, are you doing an Austin meetup? I have just found the cheapest way to do that race is in fact to get free tickets and drive there 😉
yep
@@KymIllman I thought I saw that somewhere. I’ll keep searching and try to find when it is, as well as look out for any announcements! Hopefully can be there for the meetup!
The problem is that hotels know that F1 is coming to town. In Montreal, hotels that usually charge $150-200 a night go up to $600-700+ a night 😢
The flight suggestions for Budapest are frankly absurd.
Ryanair or Wizzair will do that flight directly for like 10 times cheaper
not the day I priced it - this was the cheapest @@A180892
Please figure out a cheap way for me to go to the Las Vegas race thank you in advance
Malaysia has been the cheapest and the best value GP I've been to. An F1 ticket for ~20 USD (back in 2016-17)? Don't mind if I do!
I hope they return this in the future.
Yep. Was about to get pit straight grandstand tickets + 4 nights hotel + flight from Germany for under 1000 EUR total in 2017.
6th Street is buzzing on Friday & Saturday Kym not Sunday unfortunately
It's a shit fight
My stomach's churning. It cost almost next to nothing to drive up to Watkins Glen.
00:16 still has the green screen 👀
Shout out to Family Mart! Best to-go sandwiches EVER! Such fluffy bread!
that and Lawsons
Are you doing a fan reception in Austin?
I am.
@@KymIllman I will see you there!
@KymIllman I have been following F1 since 1967, when I saw Jim Clark, Jack Brabham, and Dennis Hulme race!
Us Texans know that Whataburger hasn’t been the same since it was sold to an out of state
US prices are crazy 😅
Brazil is cheap. Champions club with all inclusive food and cocktails and track tour. is around the same price as main grandstand in Vegas.
And I’m there next week
Spa!!
I’m watching this video, while eating whataburger for lunch in Austin. That’s too much of a coincidence.
Gonna be getting me an In n Out burger in 2 days
No cheap way to do COTA, you can't take anything in, zip zero nothing. $5 beans for a water, you get what I mean. Compare to Montreal, I took a small day pack with snacks, sandwiches, beers, pretty much anything not in glass. I also took the subway in, so no headaches trying to park a car
$89 for a shuttle pass for Austin, I’ve just come back from the Qatar GP… totally 100% FREE… and they’re 100% electric buses
Wow, do they search you to stop you bringing food in?🤔
Fun fact about Austin Grand Prix we took in our food. And drinks cuz we was not about to pay 10 dollars for a beer lol we took in 2 tequila bottles some snacks even buying food. In there was expensive a hamburger was 20$ drink 10$ fries 20$ yeahh noo
sounds like you were set for a feast
That was not Whataburger!!! 😂
As an American I would rather fly to Europe and watch a race the go to Miami,Texas or Vegas for a race . Vegas is outrageously expensive for most blue collar people. I know for nascar races you can bring in food and drink so that’s a big savings. Hotels are all 10x the price when a race is in town. So I would rather go to Europe and experience the culture and life for a week then stay in the us.
Accommodation prices in Vegas have dropped I believe
One way to get it cheaper is become a marshal
"Locals thing it (Whataburger) is better than In-N-Out" lol. Locals have never been to In-N-Out.
shame on them
Might have to stay home and look at my signed prints instead.
Still waiting on your "pool room" pics
"North Americans" Kym ‼‼
Don't sleep on the CAD and MEX crowd.
Do one on CHINA GP ahahah
I’m planning on going there! But I can’t seem to find the prices
Pocky is worth the trip.
the ones with the nuts
i guess Vegas isn't on this list :)
P. Terry's is better than Whataburger
Cheapest option: get accreditation and go to the races for free. 😊
That or become a track marshal. I can’t remember the last time I paid for admission to a race track
O.K. In your copious free time - now do the most expensive. We can all dream.
see my Monaco video
Any others? x
@@KymIllman
The American prices are total bullshit ! #F1 #AustinGP 🤘🏼🏁
As a native Houstonion, I take absolute exception to the notion that in-n-out is better than Whataburger😂
It's a fact. I stated it.
Euros please
a few per cent less than US
So you dont't know@@KymIllman
Bahrain is the cheapest
5 guys is better !
Who cares we already know who is going to win so why go
By the way. Hit me up if you want. Free pass. To the US GRAND PRIX
