One World Trade Center is the tallest building in the United States by official height. It stands 541 meters or 1776 ft. However, the building contains a long spire/antenna on the top, the roof height is 417 meters or 1368 ft.
Central Park Tower is 472 meters or 1550 ft tall, if judged by roof height, it's the tallest building in the United States.
I prefer counting roof height. So Central Park tower wins.

By pinnacle height, One World Trade wins. Roof height, Central Park wins. Since One World Trade has a spire (which is a permanent structure that can't be removed), it counts in its official height. If it was just an antenna, then it wouldn't.

Even though One World Trade Center is higher, you can't always be at the top. On the other hand, Central Park Tower has a higher roof and that means you can go higher.
I believe that the original plans for one world trade had a more substantial and structurally integrated spire which would have had it top out at 1776 ft, but design scale backs and cost cutting brought it down the the permanent antenna that’s there today, which doesn’t count towards building height (spire = part of building structure, antenna = technically removable) but the builders went to the organization that designated building height and were like ‘common be a pal mate’ and they were like ‘nah fam’ and they went back again and were like ‘but the nation’ and the organization was like ‘ok fine’ so there you go
Maybe they could have added like 8 more floors n make the spire shorter, then they would had still reach 1776ft.

There are a lot of people here who need to learn about the antenna on top of the building. When it was erected, they tried to hide the fact that it wasn’t a spire by encasing it in some type of material. It would make it sort of LOOK like a spire. However, when it was encased it no longer served its true purpose, that of being an antenna.
They took the casing off and left it exposed for what it REALLY is, an antenna.

If you prefer to include the spire, then the One world Trade Center wins. However, if you prefer to count roof height, then Central park wins. I have to admit, the One World Trade Center without its spire makes it shorter then ALOT of buildings including this one. The same goes with the Merkedi 118. It is the worlds 2nd biggest building but without its spire it's more lower down on the list. It took the Shanghai towers place brining it down to 3rd but the Shanghai tower has ALOT and I mean ALOT more floors. This is why i prefer not to count the spire as when it comes to battling to be the tallest building I personally believe it's cheating. The Burj Khalifa however is still the tallest without its spire, however I predict if a tower ends up being around 10-20 meters taller they'll expand the spire to keep the title as the tallest building ever. If they didn't do this it would make the company who owns it lose alot of money due to it no longer being an "unimaginable project" (because it will be normal to be that height) and if the tower that is 10-20 meters taller is not in the UAE, they will lose money and will probably go into a financial crisis. Thanks for reading all of this as it took me ages to do it you will notice that it will start to become harder to understand what I'm talking about the more you come closer to the end. I agree that the spire doesn't make a building look taller. Currently there's no building 10-20 meters taller than Burj Khalifa planned, only Jeddah Tower and Oblisco Capitale which are both over 1km tall.

@@sullymorales131 the emmaking pire state building is 1250 feet that hight is to where the air ships are supposed to have docked but it was way to dangerous with the upflow of wind in 1951 they put a spire a point that was 223 feet higher making the total height 1473 feet in the 80s they lowered it 32 feet with a new point on one world trade from ground to it's antennae 1776 why does it count on wtc with it's 450 foot antenna and not on empire

I'm taking the TOTAL high. So this includes the spire/antenna. Even if a building has less occupied floors than an other building, you can't just erase it's total high. So yeah, the One World Trade Center is taller to me.

Well it depends how we r measuring it because a lot the trade centers height is made by the pole if we don’t measure that the Central Park tower is taller or we can measure it by the highest floor being used or roof height but overall it just depends on how you measure it

Technically, in Central Park Tower, you can go higher via the upper floors, but in the One World Trade Center, regular people-not a wealthy snob who purchased a 1.5 million dollar condo in the building-are allowed to go up there, especially to the observation deck. Why is it even relevant? First off, the One World Trade Center is still more significant as a representation of suffering and healing, perseverance, and strength. So I believe One World Trade triumphs.

The One world Trade is the same height as the North Tower of the Original. 1,776 ft (with antennas) and 1,368 ft by floors.
My mistake. The one world’s spire is slightly larger than the original North tower. About 1,730 ft and the new one is 1,776.
