It's funny I watch this show & my twin brother watches Ganketsuou The Count of Monte Cristo, We both started watching them without the other knowing right way. And now we're both re-watching them again at the same time. And there both from the same Studio, there both adaptions of old literature, they both have more calm peaceful ballet like openings with hard rock ending, & they both take place in more of medieval time with fantasy twist

Indeed, try and think about it from a possibly abridged version. Where Romeo realizes what would happen if they both live. And purposefully stepped in the way of the tree. However, when he awakens in the afterlife, he sees Juliet, and is like. “So…this is why it is a sin to commit suicide…” 😐
It helps ease the actual ending. ☹️
Jokes aside. The ending shows that at the end of their struggle, they are happy together. So in actuality, it is a Happy Ending. This is more than what you could ask for, and I think it was an excellently done one.

I think it's sad how (kind of a spoiler..) at the end, Romeo fights and all that crap for Juliet, to SAVE her, and then he dies for her, and then she sacerfices herself. I mean really, he went through all the trouble- and bam. She dies also. but i lvoe the anime anyways~
