- I get my hands on a pair of diesel generators sat for years. Home to rodents, potentially with decades, and with a integrated starting system, getting these sets running is going to be a challenge, especially the startomatic Lister.

Lyster Petter I have worked on a few of them back in the mid 90s the first one looks very familiar to me as the same one we had on the boat it was an aux pump we used to use it for charging the boat battery as well and running light's. The second one I haven't seen before which tells it's probably older than the first one. They where good engine's for keeping you fit used to hurt the arm when they kicked back. They have a great sound to them. I have seen them on welders and in the old dumpers two cylinder and 3 cylinder. If i don't see you before new year have a great one.👍

You really had to work to get that engine to start but boy, it really sounded nice once it ran!
It was a workout first time but it got easier. Still easier to start than that Dennis mower I have! I'm looking forward to the 3 cylinder.

Хорошие дизельные генераторы, не китайские. После небольшой модернизации будут приносить пользу. У меня пара проектов с двух - и четырёхцилиндровым двигателями, но проблема с поиском подходящих по мощности и конструкции альтернаторов.

It would be worth your while getting that up and running. I hope you have it somewhere nice and dry 🙂

Both cylinders. The decompression valves were linked so I left them as they were.
Interesting projects Dave , they will keep you busy for a while, you could heat the inlet manifold with map gas it make them a bit easier to start (less chance of a heart attack!)
I might be better off with the exercise Vince 😂😂😂. Good suggestion! It's snowing here at the moment so I might need it. To be honest it fired quite easily once it had started once and i got my technique right. Far easier than the lawnmower i did the video on. Again for supportingthe channel, hope all is well.
@@davesworkshop2714 Very true Dave ,you can cancel the gym membership. .Best of luck with them ,they are handy pieces of kit to have with the way electricity bills are going and those old engines would run on any thing with a bit of fettling..
Hi Dave great job getting that started, they are very heavy on the arms, My first resto was an SR3 gen set, nearly indenticle to yours, It was early days for me but theres a little bit of vid of it running czcams.com/video/1z5SabWiKV0/video.html
mind I used the internal windings of the 24V DC side to get it going.
I had cranked it by hand to bleed the injectors and very quickly realised I was never going to get it started by hand.

Thanks Michael! I'll get back on the CAT rams shortly, just waiting for the weather to improve a bit. A friend has also offered me a bucket, itll need mods but I'm out of options think. I need her ready to roll in early March so I'll get on it shortly. Happy new year!!
Sounds like a good engine. Can you do an electric start conversion?
There's a port for a starter on the 3 cylinder but I can't see one on the 2, but I'm sure there is probably a way. When I have a bit more time I'll see if I can sort out the generator and use the integrated starter in that. Thanks for watching James 👍

Because the day something does I'll be ready for it. I work in the high voltage industry, where there are no second chance, so I take a cautious approach.
