- I have been asked questions about the brakes I am using on my Hurricane Cobra build. Some are surprised that I did not use power brakes. I think there are good reasons for both systems it comes down to how you are building the car, what you are going to sue it for and personal preference, let's have a look at the brakes.

Totally agree with your thoughts and with as light the car is it really will make the driving experience more like a driver's car
Yep I am sure it will be a drivers car!
I have 5 piston brakes,4 piston calipers and one piston to throw the parachute. 😎
4 inch crank, 4.030 bore, 4 tires, 4-wheel disc brakes…4 piston calipers just make sense. No parachute, cause it’s not a race car. 😅
are you going to do a video on power steering and manual steering a read a lot of people are going with power steering setup pete ?
I think I will add that one in. I have always preferred to be part of the experience.
Nice video, is that rotor the 12.19 or 12.88? I’m sticking with a 15” rim but wondering if I can fit a 6 piston caliper instead of a 4 piston.
Rotor is 12.88 and it's close, I was told that 6 piston will not fit under a 15 inch wheel. The Cobras I have seen with 6 piston have 18 inch wheels. BTW, the brakes on my Cobra feel very strong, but I haven't had any high speed or track testing as of yet.
@@PetesSnakeBiteKit thanks for the info! Awesome car you have.
what is the difference with 4 piston caliper and 6 piston caliper i saw superformance build list gives you choice on either setup if you could let me know please ?
6 piston calipers have more stopping power. I am guessing the six piston would come with a larger rotor that won’t fit under a 15 inch wheel.
Hmmmm,....Boss 302s did not have automatic transmissions,...
Yep,
I had my ‘70 Boss 302 in many different configurations over the time I owned it. At one point I had a stroked Cleveland and a manual shift C-6. Kinda sad looking back because I loved racing a stick shift car. The Z bar and pivot kept bending with a good healthy clutch, after a couple months bending different versions of linkage parts I gave up, Pete.
@@PetesSnakeBiteKit You have to weld extra "reinforcement" on the Z-Bar. The only factory auto Boss 302 I know of was one special ordered, by a high ranking Ford executive.
I had no idea there was an auto 302, interesting. After enforcing the z-bar the pivot would smash flat. I was 19 years old and didn’t have much patience. I wish I could have clicked on summit for a hydraulic clutch conversion😁
@@PetesSnakeBiteKit I'm in South Texas and I'm on the lookout for a GOOD restoration shop. A lot of people don't realize the front fenders on a Boss are different than a regular 69-70, as well as other items,...
