great job. we're planning on building ours this weekend so i'm taking another look at the various designs out there. i like the easy access of yours here
I love the use of the beer cooler! Very creative! My one question, if that air is sinking as it becomes more moist why expel the air from the top of the chimney? Wouldn't it make sense to let you air leave at the bottom? What forces the air to rise in the chimney and be drawn out? Thanks
Well there really are no plans I saw a similar system on CZcams and basically after they explained it I copied it thanks for asking and you have a nice day.
Nope. No one in FL that I know of.. I was actually wondering if you could still move it around as it was. If you have a chance sometime, I'd love to see what the joint looks like on the collector. I thought it was just pinned, but you say it adjusts up and down? How does it keep a seal?
you could do pvc pipes with nylon materials that you can easy remove and wash. I find its better than wires that food dries caked in and even rust. pvc pipes I find better than wood for the nylon
When it comes to stuff you're putting in your body, its best to stay 100 % natural.. with that said, food and the things that the food is cooked/stored in should also be 100% natural. So that leaves you with two options.. wood and metal. Thats why people will store stuff in Stainless Steel and Wood boxes.. or other baskets made out of a plant material like Wicker and bamboo. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from using plastic.. even the food grade safe kind.. Always go with Wood, Stainless Steel, Clay, etc..
The dryer works good but I think I will increase solar collection area in the spring. If you use the hay bale boarder I got milldewed hay cheaper and plan on it decomposing down, have a nice day.
A good idea about increasing the solar collection area. A fan/funnel design might work well so that the air funnels into the dehydrator at a stronger volume. Just thinking.
I am sorry I did not mean a moving fan. I meant to increase the surface area of the solar collector, widened out near the bottom. So that it looks like a tapered collector narrowing as it enters the structure. Just a theory of mine, it might work better. Ill do mine like that.
Juan Stefani true. It’s like a ball going down a hill then having enough momentum to go up a hill. The energy of the hot air rising is in the draw in the solar chamber. It has to push the air somewhere becAuse of the draft. It stratifies and creates more air flow in the drying area, and picks up moisture, but keeps moving and doesnt have a chance to dew because the air movement keeps it dry. Same idea as a rocket masonry heater. Designer’s brain was fully on and intelligently done.
It works because as it picks up moisture, the air cools, which causes it to sink. While it's true dry air is heavier, the cooling causes it to draft downward. So how's the cabinet working for you all still? Any video updates? Dehydrate much this season? I've really got to build myself one, just been tied up.
I feel exactly like you, but our kids and future generations should not have to be exposed to who knows what cancer causing agents, shortening their quality of life and life. I love your idea of the Solar Dehydrator, awesome idea.
If warm moist air sinks, somebody should inform the Earth's entire weather system that it isn't functioning properly. Clouds will be falling any second now.....
Deeper thinking like your denial of climate change science? Try to follow this... Sun warms oceans. Warm ocean sends water vapor into the atmosphere because warn moist air rises. Clouds made of water vapor and are obviously not heavier than dry air since they are up there and not down here. Warm moist air rises and is carried by the jet stream which is also energized the the cycle of warm moist air rising and cooler air sinking. Voila! Weather. Warmer water sends more water vapor aloft which energized weather thingies like hurricanes and cyclones. Science! Deep thinking. Go listen to Alex Jones for shallow thinking.

I think this is the best design I have seen, and I have been looking around quite a bit. Thanks for postingI
Thanks. We used it quite a bit this year.
These design doesn t works, i am a solar technician believe me hot air doesn t goes down anywhere in these world
Super cool! Thanks for sharing.
Yes the best design I ever seen; pretty good
prettiest one by far!
That’s really cool! I don’t have the tools to build all that though, but really well done.

Yeah exactly my thought too
Wow...you should sell the plans for this....this is the best I have seen👍

that is super sweet~!
That looks like the guy living next door north of us
Looks like a vary nice arrangement. A common misconception about moist air and dry air. Moist air rises, it is lighter than dry air.
no isn't
Do you have a video where we can see how good it works?! Greetings from Germany
I like this man.
What is the beer cooler's dimensions?
I wish the sound recording would be acceptable, so I could hear and watch this video!
Fantastic
very cool idea

Looks like that collector is removable, yes? Any details on that you care to share? Very VERY nice unit. Best I'd seen, actually.
Although this design is sort of counter intuitive I believe it will work. At least I hope it will as I am building a similar one
Well done :)

I like the dryer but I think I would have just used wood for the tray holders. I like the hay bale border that you use for your garden, a good idea.

Really ok without fan.

Nice work
Can you explain why you need a chimney? Why can't the moist air just go out from the lower section?
+dışgüç It increase's and speeds up the air flow. The more air flow the better.
I feel like I took a hit of that vape pen with all the warping
Did you add any metal inside the glass section to create more heat?
No just painted black.
Can you please explain why the vapor would sink in rather going up? I am trying to understand the process. Thank you
Very hot air going into top off dryer. Forcing air down. Chimney starts to draft. Strong turbulent warm air current rips through dryer.
Pure non brain design, there s no way hot air goes down

Good design but it should be air tight and heat resistant.
How can I turn a proofer full stainless into a dehydrator
nice work
Thanks
You did good
Thanks just filled and emptied it four times with mint for tea. Over night drying no power consumption.
Owen stopped there on the way back
whats in the vap pen
Vegetable glycerin nicotine peppermint oil.
Aren't you concerned about the trays nor being food grade?
Heidi Camacho No not really I'm not really a worrier + lm still alive eating home grown food. You have a very nice day.
I feel exactly like you, but our kids and future generations should not have to be exposed to who knows what cancer causing agents, shortening their quality of life and life. I love your idea of the Solar Dehydrator, awesome idea.
U even vape bro?
bombtrak15 yep

Shallow thinking think deeper.

kwo dell
Well your partly right, now tell me why it works? And quit being such a mean smarty pants.
Because it doesn t work
Pure nonsense design. how does hot air goes down?
Wrong design, maybe it works but it could work better
Juan Stefani your silly
I am not the one with no basic physics understanding. Good luck!
