Guinness commercial ( reversed so that it's evolutionarily forwards )

  • 'Rhythm of Life' Guinness commercial 2005 run backwards with added sound effects.
The original commercial started with the guys at the bar and had evolution going backwards to the primordial swamp where the guppy says "Yecch!". I decided to make it go from the guppy and end up at the bar with the guys drinking Guinness for a happier ending.

This is actually really well made as opposed to just being the video backwards

When TV ads were decent, funny and cleaver.......now the stuff of campfire legends

I was actually sent here for my R.E homeschooling. I’ve seen the comments so therefore I think it’ll be good.

Well I hope you get some education out of it well apart from drinking Guinness.

I wonder if the agency cut of both ways and client tossed a coin .....brilliant both ways THANKS for this.

This actually makes way more sense in the narrative of the commercial, like all of this striving forwards to get the tasty beer after hating the stagnant pond water . . . Why would they go _backwards_ after having sampled that delicious and refreshing beer, back to being mudskippers on a pond retching in response to that foul and brackish water? The argument is strengthened by the tagline, _’Good things come to those who wait’._ Honestly, I’m wondering if they reversed the original on a mistaken whim . . .
It’s also very clever how the meteorite strike matches the word ‘Beat’ in ‘Powerful beat’ . . . I’m all but convinced that this was the original vision. It makes _zero_ sense otherwise, ‘cos then there’re just _devolving_ to _escape_ the beer that they liked so much.

It's possible the ad is a "how we got here" thing.

It's really shocking how many people don't understand the original. If this had been the commercial it would've never won the grand prix in Cannes, it would've been generic and predictable. Let me guess, you think Pulp Fiction would've been better in chronological order? 😊

@@MTCBKK - then explain it to me, o genius ‘MTC BKK’ who had to go back and edit his own three-sentence remark - how does the commercial make any sense _backwards_ if they taste the beer and then subsequently revert to a primal state to end up drinking (and disliking), stale wastewater? Also, _Pulp Fiction_ was a circular ‘episodic’ narrative, not an inverted one ‘😊’

The comments here are really hard to read. I hope the agency who did it never discovers this comment section :p If this was the original commercial it would've never won the Grand Prix in Cannes (the equivalent of an Academy Award but for Advertising), it would've been just another generic, predictable, hard sale commercial.

i’m pretty sure they decided to run it backwards after it was shot/edited- and client wanted to start the spot off with the product
