This is actually very interesting. For example the music from "Polar Express" reminds me of seeing California from plane. Any song can remind anyone of anything else.

This makes me wonder how I'll ever go about navigating the fretboard like this. It's not only technique, it's knowledge, talent, vision, touch, note selection, knowing when not to play, and finally this guy has great tone too!

Gotta study scales vertically and horizontally. By horizontally I mean to study the scales like if you just had one string available. Do it string by string.

Well said 50Something! Besides everything you said I believe his seemingly effortless navigation of the fretboard mostly come with his experience and holding a guitar while he's awake more than he does anything else. To me, it's like how effortless Dave Weckl seems behind the drums. And obviously they aren't the only ones but they are by far 2 of the very best at their craft. Sometimes it appears they aren't even really trying lol. Jk...
The amount of hours they've put in (experience) just playing everyday and probably some days from sun up to sun down. If they had an idea and were to tell how often and how many hours they've put in during their lifetime,
it would probably blow our minds.😉
@@valebliz I think I expressed myself in a simplistic way. I agree it's not the only thing to do. But this exercise I mentioned helped me a lot. I started doing it after reading a Mick Goodrick book. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of this book.

Great phrasing on those passages. I thoroughly enjoyed the excellent use of rhythmic palm muting and light pinch harmonics to accent the notes, as well the legato techniques coupled with the tremelo. Modestly played while still showcasing abundant talent and understanding of the instruments dynamics. Excellent expressions and feel.. Great job, dude!
