My spouse and I are adding a variety of stocks/ETF to my present holdings for the long term, We've set aside $250k to start following inflation-indexed bonds and stocks of companies with solid cash flows, I believe it is a good time to capitalize on the market for long-term gains, but it wouldn't hurt to know means of actualizing short term profit.

Yes its important. I've been in constant touch with a Financial Analyst for approximately 8 months. You know, these days it's really easy to buy into trending stocks, but the task is determining when to sell or keep. That's where my manager comes in, to help me with entry and exit points in the industries I'm engaged in. Can’t say I regret it, I’m 40% up in profits just in 5months with my initial capital of $160k

It's often true that people underestimate the importance of financial advisors until they feel the negative effects of emotional decision-making. Investing does not need to be complicated. In fact, the simpler the better in my opinion. I'm retired and did so at age 42 with about $1.1M for two people. We had an advisor from Morgan Stanley in our corner. Maxed 401k for many years and then saved additional in index funds in taxable account. Our rate of return has been around 10% percent per year in the taxable account over the last 10 years.

I say retired because I left my job without having another one and I had no intention of returning to work a full-time job. If you can use a Roth IRA, put some away tax-free to save for your retirement and benefit from you know growth in the overall market and compound interest as it um as it starts to gain. I worked hard in 2019 2020 21 22 and put some money into the market long term sitting in a pretty nice spot.

I started off slowly and built up my initial investment at $6. I made a small profit at the top of the candle, which now dips and I added back. This was my first trade, and I made $1,000 on it. After that, I increased the size of my position, becoming more aggressive and capping it at about 10,000 shares. Looking back, this was a nice move from 650 up to 750 all the way up to $8, and we peaked at $8.30 before pulling back.

There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2023 and first half of this year with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. During your presentation it was briefly mentioned that NKE's equipment division performed well and had much growth potential. I think that was a good point you made. If NKE could evolve into sports equipment type store similar to Dick's sporting goods then NKE may have a brighter future. Nike could sell the sports hardware and the software (apparel). A business needs to evolve to survive. Think of Woolworths evolving into Footlocker, for example. Otherwise, to me, NKE is another T-Shirt, gym wear seller. When I visit my local outlet center I see 6-7 well known stores all selling t-shirts, gym wear, and sneakers.

That's the generic answer that most people and financial advisors will tell you. However, we are all individual humans and our personalities have a lot to do with investing and life in general cant be mapped out by a standard rubric. You need to understand yourself and make your own decisions based on your knowledge about yourself. Listening to greats like Buffett Munger and Lynch will also help you. I do not see a shoe manufacturer as having a wide moat; NKE pays Billions to Athletes that endorse their products, Billions to make their commercials, and Billions more to air those commercials. While NKE has a recognizable brand, many shoe companies have that, too. There is nothing special about NKE shoes. Many athletes prefer the superior comfort and performance of other brands, like New Balance, Asics, Addidas, and others. NKE doesn't spend much on improving their products, just on advertising them. And the NKE logo is getting a bit tired, too, IMO. I can see buying some shares while it's cheap, but I wouldn't get too excited about it, (as Paul seems to be wetting himself about the price). There's a reason the stock dropped down from $96 to $72 in a single day. And, it's been down since June 28th and no buyers have rushed in to push the price up. This tells us something, doesn't it?

    • @EverythingMoney

I only used Nike mercurials when I played soccer and they were my favourite shoes for soccer. Even after trying adidas pumas and some other brands in there too probably but they were always my favourite cleats. I stopped buying them because I feel like the quality has gone down vs. Other brands. I would like to see them back into their glory days and I would be more confident in investing in them. They also don’t offer wide fit options on their cleats vs new balance which does. More focus on a wider array of foot options and focusing on the health of our feet vs looks and style would also be another factor that would make them a better option for shoes in general

People is willing to buy fakes at 60% off and afraid of buying genuine stock at 60% sale. Billions of people around the world buying fake aspiring to buy one day the real ones. That is the real MOAT. The growth potential in the next decades in Africa and Asia is insane. Bargain of stock right now. Great buy Paul! They are known in our 7 billion people world.

The market trend can turn around very quickly. In fact, the indexes often switch from a bear market to a bull market when the news is at its worst and the mood of investors is at its lowest point. I read an article of people that grossed profits up to $150k during this crash, what are the best stocks to buy now or put on a watchlist?

In particular, amid inflation, investors should exercise caution when it comes to their exposure and new purchases. It is only feasible to get such high yields during a recession with the guidance of a qualified specialist or reliable counsel.

True, initially I wasn't quite impressed with my gains, opposed to my previous performances, I was doing so badly, figured I needed to diverssify into better assets, I touched base with a portfolio-advisor and that same year, I pulled a net gain of 550k...that's like 7times more than I average on my own.

At the end of the day, it’s a company with declining revenue that is trading at 19 PE. They will always print money but they need to re-price to become a value stock (or start growing again, which is a coin flip imo)

@@golfinguru11 I think Nike and Adidas both have very good brand value, and it's because of the athletes and teams they endorse/sign contracts with. I've bought many Mercurial soccer cleats and adidas soccer cleats because I saw professional players like Ronaldo or Paul Pogba wear soccer cleats. It's a bit different way of brand value but I think sports and teams have significant brand value and many loyal supporters who will buy the jersey for their favorite team or what have you. Fundamentals are important, it's also important to recognize which markets are the best markets to operate in. LULU's main growth was from international markets, I beleive they grew 35% internationally and 3% domestically. The U.S. consumer is the best consumer. We have the most money and our financial system is unmatched. Nike has the largest share globally but also an even larger share of the market domestically. and thier domestic growth is lower than LULU's but only by ~2%. I also see LULU's profitability metrics are stronger than Nike's so that's another benefit for LULU. I'm writing a thesis/analysis on Nike so I'll use some of the ideas you gave me here to do a proper analysis on NIke and itt's competitors. As of now I couldn't make a good assesment of either business because I didn't much research yet but I'll get back to you on this.
