  • This video is an example of how to find the proper points on modern vehicles for jump starting and charging of vehicle battery. I try to provide tutorials of the average things I do from time to time. Hopefully it will be useful to some.

    Thank you for very informative video. We don’t drive our 2021 GLE 450 so I was looking into getting a trickle charger and your video really helped.

    Thanks for posting. I don't know if you can answer this, but the red plastic cover for the positive terminal seems to be missing in my car. Is that important?

      That shouldn't cause any issues. Just watch and treat for corrosion, I suppose.

    Hi! I’m charging my GLE400 with this method for a second day already and so far i didn’t succeed, battery seems to be in deep discharge. Also car would occasionally either turn on one headlight or flicker both headlights, did you have anything of this sort? Im using some cheap Chinese trickle charger.

      I would imagine your first initial charge would have to be 6 amps.Or greater. I find that Mercedes Benz, it's often needed to be started at least once a week. There are random parasitic draws within the normal system. I currently use a charger that goes from 6 amp to 2 amp automatically. On a deep discharge, this may take all night. Hope that helps in some way.
      All those other electronic anomaly sound like a low voltage issue.

      @@dhirsch1975 my charger can go from 1 to 11 but from what i see It only gives 1.-1.5 amps, but if i open car’s door it probably senses some load and goes higher to 5-7 amps for a short period of time. What worries me is that while charging car would flicker headlights…may be its Mercedes algorithm or in worst case my charger has done something bad to electrics :(..

      It's possible the battery itself might have an issue. The voltage may read correctly , but the battery itself can not hold a load. You
      Can have it tested at a local auto parts store. I hope this leads you in the right direction. Unfortunately, i'm not an expert.

    Can a maintenance chargeer be plugged into the cigarette lighter?

    • @dhirsch1975
      @dhirsch1975  Před 7 měsíci

      Unsure about that. Have to verify with charger manual.

      @@dhirsch1975 the Mercedes' seem to have an "off" settings on their 12V aux. ports. That and I've learned its best not to send a charging current through the computer circuits of a German Car of this expense. It's not like its a Sony. Who here has German computers or phones, right?
