I have them all except the slr shot gun mic and xlr recorder, for that I use a rode video mic pro and a zoom h1n , it sounds amazing, I set the mic to 20db and find the best setting for the zoom depending on what I am recording , the mic dies the heavy lifting, and the mic is on a boom pole with a dead cat
Definitely have done a similar setup before! I had a Zoom H4n and used my rode video mic pro with it, or directly into my camera. It does a great job!
What mic do you recommend for a mobile phone? I want to record voices in a martial arts gym but there is always music and fan noise. Noise cancelling mics make all the sound come off as unnatural. The music and background noise is muffled in the audio. I am really wanting a wireless option.

There’s a very strange resonance in the audio. Might have something to do with the size of the room and the degree of treatment. Have you tried using a hypercardioid mic instead?
Hey there Matthew - yeah, there is some echo in this video. The microphone I'm using is a hypercardioid microphone, but the space to the left of me is a small cutout in the room that echos audio very badly. I was moving things around in my office and took down some of my sound panels and forgot to put them back up for this video. Once I'm all settled into my new office arrangement it will sound much better! I understand the irony of taking down my sound treatment and filming a video about microphones 🤦♂️ Thank you for the feedback and I'll try to keep this in mind for the future
Ha ha, I was hearing that annoying reverb feedback too and wondering how a video about mics could sound like that. But the Deity D3 pro is the best shotgun mic I've used. I always film outside and it's great. Would like to be more pro with XLR but seems overkill now. Thanks for the content.
