Welcome to my Destiny 2 reaction series! Today we're reacting to Destiny 2's second expansion: Shadowkeep. In hindsight, I feel like Calus must know a thing or two about these pyramids and the creatures inside them...

Fun fact about Shadowkeep: the advertising didn’t show the Pyramid, instead focusing on the Scarlet Keep. The Scarlet Keep was a red herring.

Nice, glad you're able to play some of the content now. You should also take the time to do the "Eris memories" quests. There are five quests that introduce you to the five members of Eris' fireteam, the one she lost on the moon. If you take the time to find trinkets left behind by her fireteam, you can help her banish her own nightmares which is quite satisfying. You could EASILY squeeze a whole other video out of that!
BUT ALSO! Don't forget, there are still seasons to watch!!

S9: Season of Dawn,
S10: Season of the Worthy ,
S11: Season of Arrivals (one of the best btw)
AND THEN... you get to Beyond Light!

I was a new player with Shadowkeep had ZERO context for the story except bits and pieces of the Taken King I’d watched a friend play, and even I knew the Pyramid reveal was huge when I saw it!
The way they framed it during its reveal was INCREDIBLE. It's still one of my favorite moments of what I've played so far.
I love that you're playing with your friends, usually it's just solo players, so this is a cool change of pace.
If I get the chance, I'll be dragging them back into the next playable content! It took an already fun experience and just made it even more enjoyable with friends.

Nice to see you enjoying playing destiny. There was a lore book that released with this expansion that covered the hive's perspective on the things happening. Essentially there was a bunch of political tension and discord within the hidden swarm(the name of crota's hive on the moon) and the puppet master behind it all was Savathun who wanted control over them.
I often forget the Pyramid isn't actually a pyramid. Technically it is a Tetrahedron.
Your reaction to the thing under the moon was absolutely perfect. I'm here for the rest of this playthrough.
21:11 the worm was on mars but there are some similar looking tunnels on the moon because after the moon was lost to crota in the early city age, they abandoned it and hoped that the hive would stay there and not come to earth. So the hive have pretty much entirely hollowed it out
Also the massive green cracks and fissures in the moon were caused by crota's sword and if you look up at the moon from earth, especially through a sniper scope, they're very big and very visible. He kinda blasted a whole chunk off the side of the moon
Speaking of the hive and moons, I feel like some fun information is war moons. Some hive, especially the hive god of war xivu arath, would hollow out moons and then attach thrusters to them and just use entire moons as battleships. I'd love it if we see some of those one day. We are yet to face xivu so you never know
You can go back to the moon and help Eris cleanse the spirits by finding and repairing talismans that Eris gives you, then giving them back to her. It's a pretty cool (albeit sometimes frustrating) post-campaign quest to do.
Also, ima just say that there IS a "dark future" lorebook that came out either with shadowkeep or beyond light that shows Eris Morn as being the "witch queen," where in another timeline/universe, Eris did actually betray us.
Next things to look at are Season of Undying (Vex), Season of Dawn (Vex), Season of the Worthy (Rasputin), and Season of Arrivals (Pyramids). It's worth noting that a lot of the lore videos you watched for the previous expansions and story were all most likely recorded during Season of Arrivals.
Ohhhh, but a nightmare of Cayde-6 you shall get. Just never seen, only Ikora will know the burden. It's in the lore of the Trespasser, but warning, it plays a few years later
There were instances here & there in vanilla D2, but the Pyramid reveal was one of the first instances I recall Ghost having different reactions depending on what you did previously.
Usually, Ghost would react like you heard here; "What... is that? I've never seen anything like it".
But if you did the Trials of the Nine (I think?) in Season of the Drifter (please correct me if I'm wrong), he says *this* instead; "That's... one of those Pyramids. It can't be. That should not be here".

All the hive hive different sects of different colors the red hive the hidden swarm are the defensive armies of crota they mostly guard the outside of the moon the ten green hive crotas direct army guard the temples and his throne. after we killed him in d1 his brood combined with the red brood and became all red

I loved dead space, but it got less scary the more powerful the weapons became.
