    Kelly, I watched your video yesterday about how to go cruelty free and this has been something on my mind for a while. I started by removing all non cruelty free products from my Sephora loves list and my Ulta favorites list. I also researched which brands are cruelty free vs not cruelty free and began educating myself. I think moving forward, I will be more conscious when purchasing skincare/makeup/haircare. I plan to use up the products I have now but plan to not purchase from those brands that test on animals in the future.

    Kelly, E.L.F has a dupe for that Ciate dewy stick. I am actually going thru a declutter of my makeup and I found I had both of them. They are literally same thing. Both give that wet look. Both come in a stick form. It’s called the Shimmer highlighting stick but in clear. Because there is 2 other shades.

    I'd love a "no makeup" makeup look! I have the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light (full size) and I love using it as a light finishing powder to blend everything else (blush, bronzer, highlighter, etc). It has lasted me for more than 3 years!!! I've tried the Milani alternative, but it didn't look good on me and I decluttered it. I have combo to oily skin, with some texture and large pores, so maybe that's why the Milani didn't work for me specifically. 😉 To conclude, I don't think that a finishing powder is essential, but is an extra fun step for me, that I don't mind the extra few seconds it takes. 🙂

    Elf has a product similar the that fist one, the dewy stick! I haven’t tried the expensive one but I like the elf one a lot for no makeup, makeup especially on a bare face. Also I believe some people use aquaphor for a similar look. I heard that tip in an interview with Zendaya and I think Jessica Braun tried others in a video but I haven’t, I keep mean to though.

    • @lauren7572
      @lauren7572 Před 4 lety

      Megan Nogan I am really liking the elf one also! For me, the key is dabbing on with my finger, not the stick, and it doesn’t lift any face makeup. 👌🏻

    • @megannogan834
      @megannogan834 Před 4 lety +1

      I totally agree! Fingers are the way to go with that product if you have foundation on. I’ve also used a beauty blender. That can lessen the intensity a bit, if you don’t really build it up, but sometimes that can be a good thing depending on your desired look.

    I'd definitely watch a no-make-up make-up video! Raw Beauty Kristi recently did her video take on the "no make-up look" we often see in movies... and it's a lot more difficult than one might think. I have a couple of "splurge" items, chiefly Becca undereye products, which are worth it to me because they make anything I put on top of them work well. I'm generally a drugstore diva for good dupes as well as availability/accessibility but there are some products I just cannot find a dupe for so easily. Great video!

    I had Milani Prep-Set_Glow powder and I Ioved it and I agree that it is a good dupe for Hourglass powders. However, I think I have to disagree when it comes to value comparison. It took me 4-5 months to fully use up Milani powder. I have been using Hourglass powder almost every day for almost a year now and there is only slight sign of wear.... so maybe Hourglass powder is not so much worse, or not at all worse when it comes to value if you intend to use it up completely.

      I love the Smashbox primer water, I like the fact that I can just mist it on, no need to rub in or cause any disturbance between my sunscreen and foundation. My makeup goes on like a dream over the top. I know it's pricey but it lasts for ages and you could always wait for a sale or discount! It also doubles as a finishing spray and is alcohol free. BTW my skin type is on the drier side and I'm 44

    • @sari5494
      @sari5494 Před 4 lety +1

      @@roslynalcock6917 Yesss! 😄 My skin is more on the dry side, too - so most products that are aimed at large pores don't work for me because they are too drying for my skin. And glowy primers make my pores shine like crazy. But this Smashbox Primer Water gives me just the right kind of hydration, smooths my skin when I spray it over my foundation. I love it!

    The Becca Backlight Priming filter is my holy grail 😫. I usually mix it with a matte foundation and it gives a nice subtle glow or if I don’t want to wear makeup I put it on after my skincare and it gives a healthy glow . It is pricey but during the Ulta sales they usually do buy one get one free so that’s when I stock up .

    Great video! I always loving hearing what people love and don’t think as highly about. I think I’m one of the few that goes thru lip products (lipstick and gloss) pretty quickly. I don’t have a lot of lip products (maybe 10 total), but I finish each in about 6 months. I think the Stila glitters and Becca primer are good, but will only buy them in sets during the holidays when they are very reduced. For the Becca primer it still is my favorite primer to use under my eyes. I feel it stops my undereyes from looking dry/cakey. I purchased the Born this Way and Milani concealer because of your recommendation and love them both!

    I bought the hourglass blush quad around Christmas because people rave about them so much. I was a little underwhelmed, because it just looks like a slightly glowy blush on the skin..maybe blush just doesn’t get me going but dang was that a waste of $60

    Hi Kelly! I thought you'd like to know that I've been cruelty-free for about 10 years (to be fair...not a huge make-up wearer), but I have recently started to "try" to put on a face....anyway, I do love to get my pedicures in the summer and I've always wanted to try to go cruelty-free in the nail polish dept., which, as I'm sure you know, is very difficult. I recently reached out to ORLY and they were able to compile a list of salons that exclusively use their products. Terrific! Not easy, but if you're willing to do your research, it's good to know you will be patronizing businesses that share your visions for a cruelty-free world! Take care :)

    That dewy stick reminds me of the Milk Makeup Luminous Blur Stick. I use it as a super natural dewy "highlighter". I just wipe it onto my damp beauty blender and press it into my skin where I use highlighter.

    I have SUCH a good dupe to the dewy stick and it is soooooo much cheaper and you get so much more product.

    MILK bronzer stick was my fav find in 2019 - it’s my Holy Grail and I will never be without- totally worth it for me🥰
    Milani and NYX lip glosses 👍👍👍
    Hahahaha- who could ever be mad at you? 😊. I think you will definitely re-visit the HG powders when you’re say hmmmm 55😉 I have the DIM powder. I’ve had it for over 2 years (the full size) and have yet to hit pan and it finishes my face every day. Another one I will never be without:)
    What a fun video:- thank you🙏 and yes would absolutely love a no makeup makeup video!
    Haha beautiful week 💕
