Back button focusing using a canon t3i

Option 3 is good too if you want the back button to auto expose and focus than just half shutter to AE and focus with the back (option 1).

Do I have to hold down the button to focus and kept it held down till I click my shutter? Or simply pressing the bbf once, let go, and press the shutter button?

This is great! The problem I have had is that setting my camera this way, the BBF took over my manual focus button. I have not been able to put the focal point where I want it in this mode. :( I would like to undo BBF for a while, but HOW do I undo it? Also, how do choose a different button for BBF? Casey Qasem might want to check to see if you have the latest firmware

The menu functions also depend on what mode you are currently shooting in. If your in Auto you won't have half the actual menu selections. Turn your dial to the Manual position and then click the menu button. All of your menu items will be there.
