Thank you for the video, mines arriving on Friday. This will be my 4th E-Bike. I got into biking again after 43 years when our local council loaned me one for a month. I was hooked straight away and haven't stopped riding since. My first e-bike was a Cube Cross Hybrid Pro, with a Bosch gen 3 motor that died after 18 months due to water ingress. The motor was replaced under warranty with a further 24 month warranty. I sold it as the frame was a bit too large for me, I realised that after I broke my collar bone. My son sold me a Hard Tail E-MTB with a dropper post which was much safer off road. Then at the beginning of 2021 I sold the hard tail back to my son as he had a friend that wanted it and I bought an Orbea Wild full suspension EMTB for my 60th birthday, I've done 2,600 off road miles since then and still love it. I've bought the Engwe C20 pro as it will easily fit in the boot(trunk) of my car. I'm going to use it to visit clients, as an example of how we should be using transport in the 21st Century. I work in the renewable energy business, so I think it's important to practice what I'm preaching. So I will stick in the boot of my EV and park somewhere convenient out of town and ride the C20 to my appointments. E-bikes have been a game changer for me, it did take me 2 years to lose 10KG and I've just lost another 4 this year. Happy riding.
I would like to share my experience with this bike but specifically with the Engwe Customer Care: I started using this bike and immediately from the first pedal stroke it started making noise in small holes or very small curbs like those small protruding rails for electric gates. In these situations it made a sharp metallic noise, I put it down to the internal battery moving in the compartment. I wrote to Engwe describing with video clips, they advised me to put 3M tape attached to the battery to make it thicker. I did this but the noise is the same, in the end I had it seen by a mechanic and in his opinion it is a fork problem this electric click as soon as you take a cobblestone out of place this metallic noise occurs. In fact, even without the battery, the noise has not disappeared. According to the customer care they told me that the problem is not the bike with shock absorbers and that I can keep the noise which according to them is not a serious thing. Of course I sent 1 photo and 2 video clips to back up my theory, this soap opera had been around for about 8 days. In the end I wrote to PayPal asking to assert my rights, immediately as if by magic the next day they replied saying that they were sorry for this situation and that I could choose whether to replace the fork (which I had asked them before asking PayPal, not receiving their response on the matter) or a refund of 50 euros, on the grounds, however, that I would have had the same noise problem with the new fork. I accepted the fork swap option and hope he gets a bike like yours in video. I understand that they are tools and someone can come out defective, the thing that bothered me (I can support what I'm saying with emails and videos that I sent them and with the famous replies) the difference in addition to the product is seriousness, customer care and organization. Just think that they signed customer care, I pointed out that it is good practice to sign with a name, I later received other emails from them but they have never signed with a name. They still have a lot to learn. I want to clarify that since the arrival of the bike I have covered a total of 23/24 km
Sounds like the headset bearings. Mine loosened too and started rattling. It's like a 5 minute fix. Or, could be the controller rattling in the frame. All bikes require maintenance and adjustments. For those who want or need constant help and warranty repair, bike shops are the best option but that's why you pay more at a bike shop. Buying online bikes is for the DIY type. Engwe is trying to make partnerships with physical repair shops around the world but it's hard to troubleshoot a bike remotely, and they're not gonna send a whole new bike for such a small issue.
I have the Lectric xp 2.0 step thru. It's pretty good. Tiny battery though. I'm 300 lbs and there are hills here, they claim 40 miles per charge. I get 6 on pure throttle. I have no idea why ebike companies still include range on PAS 1 on flat ground. You're not fooling anyone. 2:57 mine can do that too, not impressed. 3:29 Small observation, that charging port hole should have been cleaned up. 4:08 your motor is 1/2 as powerful as mine, but I'm not sure mine is geared internally. @36 volts 250w means your controller pulls less than 10 amps. I regularly see mine top out at 19, and even then it still struggles with me on it. I don't think this is a good bike for heavy people. 4:46 that bell is a nice touch. And the backlight is nice, though I've not run into any situations where I have trouble reading mine. (it's flatter than your bikes, but the screen is bright even in direct sunlight. and I haven't ridden the bike at night.) 4:52 looking at the handle bars, they are literally the exact same as the Lectric xp 2.0. The EXACT same. I wonder if you can find out which factory in China makes these bikes, I bet it'd be 1/3 the price. 8:05 ok then my bike motor is for sure more powerful. my settings are pas 1-3 5 to 17 mph, and 4&5 get me 20 to 23 mph (I have the bike unlocked via software.) 8:54 WOW! That's very good! Some questions, you said you're 200 lbs, ok, but what are the road conditions at your test ride? Mostly flat? The roads looked in good repair. HMMMMM a LOT of the small things on your bike are identical to mine, despite being 'manufactured' by different brands. (the kickstand is even!) Would you be interested in trading temporarily so I could do a review on that ebike?
I have wondered about the Lectric bikes as I see them advertised everywhere and I see them around town occasionally. Definitely seems like a great bike as well. I'm not surprised they share a lot of parts, as I'm sure most common parts like kickstands, handlebars, etc are just manufactured in bulk and sold to other manufacturers as components. One thing they include that I do miss a bit on my Engwe is the cargo rack. Most of the areas I ride in are pretty flat, with the exception of a few very short hills, which is why I can get away with the 250w pretty easily. I have a few other bikes at 750w and 1000w but for just a normal bicycle-speed kind of cruise, the 250w is plenty. Great for into the wind, up hills, or just to feel like a super-biker. I suppose it depends how you ride. If you treat it as a bike with assistance, it's great. Expecting to use it as an electric motorcycle might leave something to be desired. Not really interested in trades at the moment, I'm sure shipping would be quite a bit as well, but I appreciate the offer.
@@1620GarageAndFarm I highly recommend the Bafang mid-drives if you're willing to DIY it. I bought one for my wife's bike last year and it's been just great. Lots of power, very quiet. I have the 750w BBS02 but with a good battery it will pull 1200w peak and do over 30mph.
Yes, you can ride without pedaling. I tried one day to run the battery down, and got bored before the battery ran out. It went for over 2.5 hours on a charge without pedaling at full throttle, so around 40 miles and it still had some charge left. It's the only bike I have that I just don't really worry about keeping it fully charged, as it has such good range.
That sounds pretty reasonable for full speed, thanks for letting me know! I went out the other day for the sole purpose of a "full throttle battery only" test but only got to 25 miles with two bars of charge left before I got too cold and gave up lol.

Top video. 👍🏽 I got mine a few days ago. Just set it up and charging now . I turned it on and powered it up on throttle mode and it seems it’s got cruise mode on the throttle which if kept held for few seconds stays at the set power speed set on the lcd computer ranging from 5 (fastest) to 1 (walking speed) and it seems to show a Bluetooth icon but not sure what that does exactly so will be finding out soon enough. Something else I noticed while powering back wheel with bike lifted off the floor as I was inside the house the wheel seems to spin in a irregular motion as if it’s not properly fixed on or it’s it’s not perfectly round, this could well be either wheel damaged/bent in transit or manufacturing fault. My guess is the former as it has paint damage near the pedals on the main chassis/frame.
If the wheel is bent, you might be able to use a spoke wrench to remove the wobble. There are plenty of tutorials on this on CZcams, just search for how to true a bicycle wheel. Hope you enjoy your bike!
@@Pilotgeek thanks for the tip. Mines been out of action since I last posted for some reason the power just cut out at 70% battery power and never came back on. I’ve tried charging the battery and removing and replacing it as well as turning ignition on/off and even checking for wire damage but still no luck. The after sales service team is based in China and they’re not very helpful. They took nearly 2 weeks to actually respond with an appropriate email and that was how to diagnose the problem at home myself with hardly any electrical knowledge and that too using a multimeter to check if the battery is ok ( I don’t have a multimeter) it seems I’ll have to call an electrician to diagnose the problem. I’m thinking of other alternatives as I don’t want to do anything to it that might render the warranty void altogether!.. 🤔😡
@@mohammedkamran5407 might need a multimeter to check unfortunately. It's very useful to test. Maybe I can make a video on how to troubleshoot. If you open the compartment on the bike with the battery connector, the electronic control box is in there. You could check and see if all wires look okay or if one accidentally came unplugged.
Also additional question, how comfortable is the seat? On my bike I had to purchase a 200 dollar upgrade package, as the stock seat was as hard as a rock, and the light was too weak to see at dusk with. And yes, I'm still salty about it.
The included seat is almost identical to a "Schwinn Comfort Bike Seat" if you want to be able to test or compare to something you could find locally. I have a Schwinn Comfort seat on another bike and the plastic mold, padding, etc appears identical to the one Engwe uses with the exception of the logo. I did mean to get a shot of the headlight in the dark, but forgot to include it. Side by side with another bike light, the included light appeared to be around 250 lumens by running a comparison with other lights.
Nice one. I'm riding a 26in fat tire ebike. It has a 14ah 48 volt battery with bafang mid-drive. Doesn't fold but goes literally anywhere. Just got solar charging setup on it as well. Any of your 3d 🇺🇸 projects incoming? Thanks for sharing 👍
I do love the bafang mid-drives. I think it's the best kit available for conversions and I have one on my wife's primary bike. As far as other types of content, I do have a video I'm working on for the Harlot 3D printed derringer but no new original plans at the moment.
I know, the more I ride it the more I like the bike with the exception of the bars. I think the reach to the bars is just a bit too far. Plus, the stock bars look kinda dorky.

I do personally like the C20 Pro as it has been just a super practical workhorse for me the past year. It's not the fastest, but the quality and range are good for the price. The Lectric XP is also a great value, but I know the battery is much smaller. I also will be putting out a review on a Nakto ebike soon, but I wasn't terribly impressed by it.
Almost 20AH battery is pretty damn good. Were you able to find a decent rear rack for this bike? It seems to have an unusual frame design that won't allow heavy duty racks that attach to the frame....
I ended up 3D printing an adapter to fit a cargo rack. I may make a followup video as I love the bike, but wish it had stuff like that from the factory.
There are seat post racks but they don't seem very sturdy. Please make the rack mounting video and share the 3d adapters, I'm buying one for Christmas.
I use a VIA Velo Mini U-Lock on my other bikes, but it may be difficult on this bike. The only real good place to lock to is the area above the rear tire at the frame, so I always just used a thick steel cable with padlock.

No, it only detects whether or not you pedal. Each PAS level acts like a cruise control. Not my favorite method of pedal assist, but pretty typical for the sub $1k bikes.
I don't believe it has an official waterproof rating, but the motor and the controller appeared to be sealed rather well. I've run mine in rain and wet conditions without issues.
Mirror and rear light are essential, but helmet isn’t? I don't normally care about people I don't know risking injury to themselves, but humanity needs your noggin in good condition for the continued progression of 3D printing!
My opinion is that the company laughs at you, they are not serious at all. The first thing: my bike arrived damaged by transport, and they do not give me a solution other than a video that is of no use to me, the repair costs me €23 (the change of the crooked bicycle). The second thing: the battery does not fulfill what was promised nor does it come close to reality, it does not drive me more than 65 kilometers, when my weight is 60 kilos. (either I got a defective battery or I don't know) The third thing: the very bad brakes, the battery inside is half loose, hitting the inside in the potholes, and the front brake is misaligned and rubs against the brake, it also doesn't start to rain... since it only has waterproof (ip2 ). For the rest good... but too many negative points. I wouldn't buy it again.
What was crooked / bent? It's hard for a company to repair a bike from a distance. I buy online bikes with the expectation that I may have to tune or fix minor problems myself. Any bike requires maintenance and minor adjustments. A similar bike from a local bike shop is usually at least double or triple the price, but you pay for that in service. Range is also usually calculated with the maximum figure representing minimum pedal assist level with some effort from the rider. Brake adjustments go out of alignment on ANY bike after a while and that's easy to fix. I understand your frustrations, but you also have to have reasonable expectations. Most of my channel is DIY projects, so I expect a lot of my audience to not mind having to make minor adjustments or repairs to a bike.
@@Pilotgeek yes it was crooked... but the company sent me a 3-second video that was useless, and I went to a physical store and sent them the invoice with my information, since it was the transport and they will reimburse it, (and I hope that That's also what the guarantee is for... and even more so if I couldn't even open it) and I'm still waiting for an answer... I didn't want to play it so as not to get worse, regarding the battery with 3-2 assistance they make me 65km, which is what most It annoys me too. Thank you for answering. I am not a mechanic either and I say that the company will have to answer for its product.
Depends what you're looking for. If you don't want much more than regular bike speeds, it's fine. Engwe does have a 750w bike capable of the high 20's. Otherwise, DIY builds at 1000W+ are obviously the most fun :)

I tested the range of my C20 Pro. I used only speed mode 5 and ride mostly with maximum speed. Managed to get 35 miles (57 km).

I use a VIA Velo Mini U-Lock on my other bikes, but it may be difficult on this bike. The only real good place to lock to is the area above the rear tire at the frame, so I always just used a thick steel cable with padlock.

No, it only detects whether or not you pedal. Each PAS level acts like a cruise control. Not my favorite method of pedal assist, but pretty typical for the sub $1k bikes.

Make sure the key is turned all the way, so the pin is retracted. Can't be removed otherwise. Also make sure the rubber plug is removed.

I don't believe it has an official waterproof rating, but the motor and the controller appeared to be sealed rather well. I've run mine in rain and wet conditions without issues.

Mirror and rear light are essential, but helmet isn’t? I don't normally care about people I don't know risking injury to themselves, but humanity needs your noggin in good condition for the continued progression of 3D printing!
Stats show that ebike injuries are more similar to motorbike injuries compared to standard bicycle ones. So yes a helmet should be a priority
My opinion is that the company laughs at you, they are not serious at all. The first thing: my bike arrived damaged by transport, and they do not give me a solution other than a video that is of no use to me, the repair costs me €23 (the change of the crooked bicycle). The second thing: the battery does not fulfill what was promised nor does it come close to reality, it does not drive me more than 65 kilometers, when my weight is 60 kilos. (either I got a defective battery or I don't know) The third thing: the very bad brakes, the battery inside is half loose, hitting the inside in the potholes, and the front brake is misaligned and rubs against the brake, it also doesn't start to rain... since it only has waterproof (ip2 ). For the rest good... but too many negative points. I wouldn't buy it again.
What was crooked / bent? It's hard for a company to repair a bike from a distance. I buy online bikes with the expectation that I may have to tune or fix minor problems myself. Any bike requires maintenance and minor adjustments. A similar bike from a local bike shop is usually at least double or triple the price, but you pay for that in service. Range is also usually calculated with the maximum figure representing minimum pedal assist level with some effort from the rider. Brake adjustments go out of alignment on ANY bike after a while and that's easy to fix. I understand your frustrations, but you also have to have reasonable expectations. Most of my channel is DIY projects, so I expect a lot of my audience to not mind having to make minor adjustments or repairs to a bike.
@@Pilotgeek yes it was crooked... but the company sent me a 3-second video that was useless, and I went to a physical store and sent them the invoice with my information, since it was the transport and they will reimburse it, (and I hope that That's also what the guarantee is for... and even more so if I couldn't even open it) and I'm still waiting for an answer... I didn't want to play it so as not to get worse, regarding the battery with 3-2 assistance they make me 65km, which is what most It annoys me too. Thank you for answering. Depends what you're looking for. If you don't want much more than regular bike speeds, it's fine. Engwe does have a 750w bike capable of the high 20's. Otherwise, DIY builds at 1000W+ are obviously the most fun :)
they also do a 500W version, it would be interesting to know how much quicker that is.
@@marcelthompson130 37 km/h, derestricted in sub menu's, i have 80kg, with my wife about 60kg, 39 km/h..i bought 2, with 500W motor.
In USA market they have 48V/500W model 10Ah, according test i read it is 45km/h fast.
