Shaq really dominated in the Finals but without Kobe in the War zone that was the 00s Bestern Conference they'd literally never get out without Kobe. Kobe played better against Sacramento, San Antonio, and Portland because they all had top tier frontcourts and Shaq wasn't doing this against Webber/Divac, Duncan/Robinson, Sheed/Sabonis. And back me up without hindsight the narrative at the time was essentially the championship was won in the West Conference Finals.
