      Sorry man, no idea. I don't know much about those cars. I would ask on a facebook group.

    Great video as always. Hoping MIP decide to make a diff for the king cab/astute series. Just doing a refurb/rebuild and the diff is a real pain.

      Oh man me too. If those are rere'd and the Hotshot diff is a success, they will. Trust me, I have been on them for that diff a long time. I installed the RCC Stealth adapter and I love it.

      Yea I saw the video, great idea, been keeping an eye on eBay for a stealth gearbox but no luck so far without spending loads of money. Is the conversion kit still available? Was also toying with the idea of trying a dynastorm gearbox. Keep up the good work, always interested in your videos.

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  Před 6 lety

      The main issue with the stealth is price. I know RCC is working on a version with a newer AE trans!

    Great video man, I have an original Hotshot which I've had since a kid got it back in 86 it needs a lot of parts but I plan on doing a full restore on it. the Re-release I will be getting in the near future to run. I wish they would also Re-release the old Blazing Blazer, while mine is in pretty good condition, it could use some parts.

      @AMPROEngineering  Před 6 lety

      Thanks, I hope we make it to production. I think Tamiya will re-re it and the original Hilux one day. They are waiting for something special I think.

      AMPRO Engineering awesome, that will give places a chance to get some kits back in stock as well. Everything tamiya seems to be sold out!

    Do you know of anyone who makes stronger suspension arms for the hotshot and boomerang?

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  Před 6 lety

      Hmmmm....me actually...haha! I am not done with the design yest but I'll have all the arms available soon.

    • @Lander76
      @Lander76 Před 6 lety

      Good stuff. You could be onto a winner if they are close to the original design. You might want to look into developing a tougher front gearbox casing also as they are prone to breaking ;)

  • @charleswa

    I've almost bought a re-release Boomerang a few times now. This is going to seal the deal I think!

    I want a stealth for my gold pan one day. The original trans is good but the tolorance on some of the machined parts has to be near 0 for it to be happy. Plus or minus 2 thousands on some of workings wont work well.

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  Před 6 lety

      I always hated that old 6 gear. I remember when I installed the Stealth in that car...what a day. That must have been 20 years ago but it is the same trans that is in that car to this day.

  • @weberbuiltweber1908
    @weberbuiltweber1908 Před 6 lety

    Have you pondered on a superfly lll with a stealth transmission?

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  Před 6 lety

      Yup, that was the original plan actually. It would have made life infinitely easier but i decided that I needed to keep the stock trans since then it would be as much a Hornet as possible.

    @frankiechow39 Před 6 lety

    BTW, will you offer any upgrade other than ball diff for Boomerang??

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  Před 6 lety

      Yes, the plan is a complete suspension upgrade from myself or MIP depending on how this presales goes. Stay tuned!

    Are the boomerang diffs bad because mine seems to be fine my boomerang is a 2007 or something

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  Před 6 lety

      Well, they are the same style as the Blackfoot but they do not suffer from the load expansion that the blackfoot does. Where the Hotshot cars suffer is the fact that under turns, the inside tires lift and the car loses power. The ball diff will allow a super thick grease that will make the car act like it has no diff under acceleration but give the car the ability to lightly apply differential when needed. Right now, the car is a mess when it comes to power transfer.

    • @Andrew-bv6qc
      @Andrew-bv6qc Před 6 lety

      AMPRO Engineering yea when I turn mine hard it is pretty bad does the frog have the same diff as well

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  Před 6 lety

      The frog uses the ORV diff from the blackfoot with one less tooth so you need to buy the blackfoot gear set for the counter gear. What frog do you have? The original or the rere?

    • @Andrew-bv6qc
      @Andrew-bv6qc Před 6 lety

      AMPRO Engineering original

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  Před 6 lety

      Then you will need the orv diff, the 2016 blackfoot gears, pinion and axles. if you look at my MIP ball diff videos, all the part numbers for what you will need are there.

  • @allianceofsteel
    @allianceofsteel Před 6 lety

    this seems like a no brainer to me but .... why not just design two new halves of the gear boxes.. to be 3d printed.. so they can either modify their original gear box or just purchase "new".. gear box halves to fit the new mip diffs... that way cars can remain "original" but also upgraded.... so each car could be taken back to pure original stock if so desired..

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  Před 6 lety

      Well, the target audience is those that are going to run the cars more aggressively and knowing the issues the originals have with weaker plastics, the rere's are the more likely choice. Also, since the gear box halves can be bought new and give the size of the boxes themselves and the difficulty in designing them, printed ones will be around $80 a set and that is crazy! I think buying rere boxes is the way to go at this time.
