That tone is everything you could ask for in a mahogany Gibson!!!!! Amazing!!!!!
I love. Love, love what I call " rescue " instruments and this is perfect example of why. Congratulations. Well done.
NOTHING BETTER! Congratulations on your ownership, connection to the universe, and musical growth.
Sounds so rich, deep and sparkly all at the same time. Amazing find! 🔥
The fingerstyle tone is to die for
I love a naturally aged and worn guitar. As my luthier says, "honest play wear". My 1970 Martin D-28 is pretty rough but sounds amazing. Every scratch, ding, and mark tells a story of a well-loved guitar. Your Gibson sounds fantastic. Probably one of the nicest I have heard. Keep this one!
I love it! The story, the patina, the sound. All of it!
I can tell this guitar does that "piano" thing that my J45 does - each note is so clear, even at lower volumes. That's what I think makes these so inspiring to write with, and to just sit alone with and experience. Beautiful guitar, thanks for sharing!
I’m glad to see the end result at long last! I remember when you got the guitar and then sent it off for major work. I think it’s worth every cent to make major repairs. It sounds great and will prolong this guitar’s life. Love it!
Your Gibson is gorgeous, and sounds fabulous. I have a 1966 Epiphone Texan that has a crushed top ... I doubt it will ever get fixed, as time is running out for this world. But it is also a beautiful guitar. I love the parallelograms on your board. I should add that I was blessed with the gift of a 1991 J-200 that is spectacular! Play on, Sir!
It records beautifully! That's a keeper.
Oh man, that box sounds incredible!
Fantastic! Beautiful tone.
That is just beautiful! I played one of these a few weeks ago, a 65 I believe, but it wasnt a nice dark aged top like that. Enjoy it!
Amazing tone!
I'm not usually a fan of Gibson sound really but do own a slope shoulder dreadnought from another maker that I love, so versatile. Wow that really does sound great, well done on saving a piece of history.
Love the boom of the Gibson .
Great tone! Looks like a forever guitar! Keep making amazing content, thank you Jeremy!
Happy you got your guitar back. Good things come back 🤝
That sounds beautiful!
That’s a gorgeous sounding and looking guitar
So happy for U!!!! Cudos!!!
You revived a magnificent guitar!!! Hope to enjoy it for a lifetime!!!!
Great sound just got a 71 D35 Guild one owner. Thanks again for all the great videos.
It looks good after the repairs Jeremy. I do hope you keep this one. At this point that guitar needs a forever home. Enjoy!
Very nice and it's awesome to see how it has come back to life. And I'm thrilled you're going to enjoy this for years to come. And it sounds beautiful, even if it doesn't look perfect. My old Guild 12 string doesn't look perfect, but it sounds so good. This one sounds great, too.
Enjoy!
That is absolutely stunning!!
Im extremely happy to see you getting back something you once had to give up on, it looks incredible and the sound definitely matches the looks, now for sure you’ll never lose sight of this one hehe wish you the best Jeremy, take care!

You can really hear the aged , dried top resonance and the classic Gibson tone.
Congrats Jeremy it sounds amazing! Vintage Gibsons are magical and nothing can replicate that tone!
That sounds beyond wonderful 😮
... I was born in 1957 :)... it is a beautiful guitar ... I like this dry woody sound ... sometimes "good things will come back" ... be blessed man
Splendid tone.
Sympathetic restoration. Sounds great. My birth year too.....👍
Pure Mini sounds great!
I’m so happy for you! So….was it worth it? Based on your obvious enthusiasm about the CW, yes - definitely worth it!
I beginning to realise why slope shoulder Gibson's are so loved. Sounds like an obvious thing to say but they are for songs. Congrats Jeremy 👍
Worth it! Nice, very nice!
That's a stunning sounding Gibson👌
This guitar has a sweet tone and good volume. I like it! I have a friend who has an LG OO from the 40's that I'd like to have though it's in really rough shape.
Had an SJN in mid '60's...noticed your fret inlays and bridge! Had Gibson's (crappy) adjustable one. Also bracing allowed top to bow quite a bit. Mahagony back and sides were rather reddish. Really nice guitar I had for 5 years or so. Sold to friend of my gifriend and used toward my current D28, a BRW '68. Yours sounds terrific, BTW.
This thing sounds so jaw droppingly good. Keeper for sure. Would love to know the backstory on it if that ever comes to light.
Best sounding gibson I ever heard
hi, Jeremy, I tried many gibson acoustic guitars, vintage, too. Please try Gibson custom shop lg-2 1942 banner. Really well made, with pickup k&k and k&k preamp sounds amazing.
If you sell that guitar I want it! It sounds great! Enjoy the finish off of it!
Beautiful sounding instrument. Always nice when the dream returns back to you. You have earned the karma.
There is a quality to vintage instrument tone almost unreachable in a new instrument without spending VERY high dollar amounts.
Being a ROG (random old guy) I can appreciate things that get better with age.
Restoring such an instrument is something I personally enjoy doing as a hobby, I restored a USA 1963 Epiphone Cabellero a few years back and she is played regularly.
I am now restoring a lawsuit era 1977 Takamine F400 12 string which was a Martin copy. Body repairs, new tuners and neck reset done, now awaiting refret.
I have a Martin D12-28 available and I am thinking about doing a side by side comparison video, since it was the source inspiration for the lawsuit Takamine copy.
I am not usually a YT contributor. I have no idea if it would be of interest. Any comment?
That guitar has some mojo...
I honestly don’t like the way most vintage guitars sound, especially Gibsons. I just prefer the crispness and polish of modern guitars, BUT, this sounds as near to perfect as a guitar can sound for my ears!
Congrats!
Very happy for you, Jeremy. Wishing you many years of enjoyment with your new, old guitar.
A question, you said you put a K&K pick-up in it, do you usually use a preamp when playing with a K&K? The output from the K&K Pure Mini I have in my Eastman is ridiculously low and unusable without a preamp, which is disappointing.
I used the LR Baggs venue DI.
Thanks, man.@@JeremySheppard
Dude. Just wanted to say, I own a single Martin OM28, and have happily for years. Until I stumbled upon this damn channel! 🤯😂
I have watched every video with this guitar idk how many times. My $20 garage sale 57 C&W is at the luthier now and I’m waiting on a call to come pick it up any day. I hope it sounds half as good as this one when I get it back. I would love to know the exact make and model case you have yours in so I can have one ready to go when I pick mine up. I don’t have a case for it right now.
Dude! Let me know how it turns out! I have mine in a gator ATA flight case now. They sell for $199. We sell them at hometown music, I can get you one.
That's my favorite guitar. I 'm 67 and I learned to play on my Dad's Country Western. I'd give my left n*t to have one!!!😊
Man,It sounds amazing!!! What stings are you using?
I love it! This has Nickel Bronze from Daddarrio.
@@JeremySheppard Cool!!! Thx!
Based on how you feel, it was defenently worth it!
That thing’s a beaut Jeremy
Love your passion Jeremy. I’ve started to geek out on your videos because of the knowledge & passion you bring. This vintage Gibson does sound great! Regardless, I’m more a boutique, custom shop guitar enthusiast. I’ve never had the inclination to chase a vintage guitar that was built by a mass producer like Gibson or Martin looking for the 1-in-50 (or even more rare) custom-quality axe their commodity luthiers accidentally got right…and then had to find a gifted luthier to restore to sustainably playable condition. It just doesn’t make sense to me when you can spend the same money and get at least as good an instrument from Bourgeois, Collings, Huss & Dalton, Santa Cruz, etc. What am I missing?
Sitka tops always sound best.
Congrats! Is that being kept in an Eastman case? Pew wee!
It is! Not an excellent fit but better than the original. These cases are really good.
@@JeremySheppard I agree. Man, they stink for a few days. My case is new and those little leather pieces that cover the metal on both sides of the handle have come off. I don’t think they serve any purpose. Unless they’re supposed to keep the handle from sliding around. I’m just letting them hang for the time being. Any ideas? If it’s cosmetic, I’ll just cut them off.
First of all congrats seems like you're really happy with this. Second, I've been watching this channel for a while and... I'll bet you $50 You don't have this guitar a year from now. 😊
😂 I'll take that bet. This one has been so long in the coming. I've got dozens of pictures of these that I've wanted to buy through the years.
@@JeremySheppard okay Habibi, you're on. Taking a screenshot of this and will reach out next year. By the way, great guitar.
"I can do it. I can do it."
We all have at least one guitar that is heart more than head. I probably didn't need a Lowden. But selling my old jumbo mahogany and cedar Lowden from 1990 or so was the worst guitar mistake I ever made (OK, and selling my D-28S is close). So an F-body Lowden with mahogany and cedar is something I really wanted. Sue me. So I totally get you attachment to getting this ticket in your guitar soul punched. If you want an "Amen." I'll say, "AMEN."
I don’t care what the rest of the world says, a Mahogany dreadnaught has more bass than a Rosewood dread.
Seriously, how long will you keep it? You're a guitar hunter. With all respect, that kind of guy who is always hunting for a better guitar ou "x thing " just because you think you will be better with that elusive vintage secret wisdom or new tech bling thing in your hands . I've been fooled by this way of thinking for a too much long time.
Sorry for English, not my native language.
This one's a keeper but I am definitely more of a hunter than a collector.
