I grew potatoes in tires last year but this year I will only put flowers in them. I watch a video about raised beds and it said not to use tires for food because when they heat up in the sun they will leach heavy metals and other bad chemicals into the soil. I had not considered that problem and, won't put food plants in them again.

@@gabbygertie8709 If it’s organic then, yes, you can plant what you bought at the store. Plant them 2 to 4 inches deep with the nubs/fingers (rhizomes) facing up. Use well draining soil. It’s best to try to get 10 months growth if you can. So, a pot that you can take inside or out in a greenhouse is ideal.

I bought several sizes of those pots. Plants don't get root bound, roots grow out the pots ,die off, and new roots grow, seems to me those new roots are better at taking in nutrients. We have lots of deer, raccoons, squirrels, stray cats , and even a ground hog living at my place. You gave my husband the inspiration to buy me a long awaited greenhouse. Its my 35th wedding anniversary present. Those bags are a dream come true since we live on a rocky hill. I bought all heirloom seeds to plant , and we are using soil and compost and all kinds of goodies for our pots. I gardened most of our marriage, canned, dried ,and froze most of our foods over the years. Then I got sick. And so I am really excited about my summer adventure this year!!!! God Bless ,and give you an over abundance of veggies.....

Wonderful video. One simple idea to carry a bunch of such grab-handle based grow-bags would be to line them all up, snake through a long bamboo or metal pole through the handles and then two people on either can lift up the entire set of bags (like paramedics hauling out a stretcher) and haul the bags over to wherever you need to drop them off. Lesser bending

I ordered some of the grow bags. I love them, but you are absolutely correct. No way that's 7 gallons. Not even close. Love watching the videos too.

I love yalls channel and yes I have a rental backyard full of sand I don't think anything planted in would grow so I am using containers and thinking these might work for me. I can't wait to show off what I have been up too. New to planting and growing. I've tried in the past and kill everything so I am happy to have a few trays of starts growing like crazy. Sprouting up way earlier than the package said they would...fun to watch them grow. I feel proud like a a plant momma or something LOL You are what you eat!

We have been growing in grow bags for 8 years and our melons do very well. We let the smaller ones climb up a cattle panel behind the bag... it looks really cool and doesn't take up garden space. I appreciate all your information on amending the soil... it is a weak area for me so I am really appreciating all your knowledge and how you explain everything. Thank you. God Bless.

I ordered the bags over the winter. They do come in different sizes. Looking forward to seeing how everything grows. I also like the idea that at the end of the growing season I can empty the soil back into compost and fold them to store for the winter.

I got grow bags this year because I don't have a tiller. So far I planted 1 tomato and some potatoes. I put leaves and soil made from rotted trees and whatever in edge of woods behind me. I then added peatmoss ,and potting mix. I started my potatoes low in the bag until sprouts come out and will keep adding more potting mix. Hope it wo. I have other things I will grow. squash cucumbers and peppers. It's a new way for me to plant. I'm physically having trouble doing this, but ,, I will work at it!!
