The old Simpsons gags are just brilliant. This scene is funny alone just with how ridiculously sinister it is, but it’s funnier now knowing that Kohoutek was a real life astronomer.
I actually knew who Kohoutek was when I saw this episode (I'd read an astronomy book for a school assignment, and the chapter about comets mentioned him). So for me it was doubly funny on the first go.
I know in the future the Mission to Mars will happen. I also know in the future ever country around the world will have it's own Space headquarters and Space Station. Since every planet in our solar system will be discovered by man kind. And we all know more people will go to live in space as well.
