Memory foam and latex are pretty different in terms of the feel and experience they offer. Memory foam is slow-moving and great with pressure relief, and #latex is bouncier and better with support.
Memory foam mattresses are better for side sleepers who need more pressure relief on their shoulders and hips. Also, those who need a #mattress to deal with pain issues should consider something with memory foam. Finally, they are better mattresses for couples and they are more affordable mattresses as well.
Latex mattresses, on the other hand, are better for hot sleepers and those who prefer sleeping “on top” of their mattress. In addition, they are more durable mattresses that shouldn’t sag, even under the weight of a larger person. Also, they are usually more eco-friendly mattresses because they contain all-natural materials.

I have to say these videos you make are very helpful. I’ve been suffering from hip issues recently and all your videos definitely have allowed me to find a solution
Hi, May I know which one have you decided for your case
I feel like this video unintentionally gives the impression that latex is POOR for side sleepers. It certainly isn't, it's just not as ideal as memory foam may be. Latex is better for side sleepers than an average mattress. It also does have good movement isolation for the couples situation.
for side sleepers would a medium or firm be better with a latex mattress ?
@@craigshandworld medium for sure. You want your pressure points so sink in a bit so your spine is correctly aligned while sleeping on your side.
@@craigshandworld one side 4inch medium soft latex & other side 2 inch medium firm latex is best combination .
Based on ur mood u can turn over mattress up& down .

Crisp n crystal clear presentation without overloading with information, unlike many others do .. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Clear, concise and to the point. Well done video! Thanks!
Without a shred of doubt in my mind, Latex all the way.
for side sleepers would you say medium or firm latex
@@craigshandworld for strictly side sleeping I'd stay away from firm and go with medium or even soft latex to prevent pressure points in the shoulder and hip.
@@craigshandworld I'm a side sleeper, 6', 200 pounds, I went with a soft 18-20 ild 3" top layer, and increased ild for the middle and then bottom layer. Absolutely love it, way more than memory foam.

I always wondered which one was better. I think the latex one would be nicer. Thanks for the info!
Best review saw so far, helped me in choosing the right mattress. God Bless.
Pleasantly surprised how informative this was
Great review on the differences between memory and latex foam. I happen to be I happen to like the latex foam a little more is it gives me the ability to move around the bed without ever getting stuck.

Great review!!! I would probably go with latex foam because of it's firmness
Thanks for the review. Helps a lot!

Wow wow wow....cleared my doubts
Great information. I have memory foam for support of joints, but it does sleep hotter than regular foams or latex. It is more gentle for pressure relief on shoulders and hips, but no one bed build will be perfect in my opinion. Great review
Natural latex mattress is the only one that suits you
I am thinking I would lean Latex, its tends to be more breathable, and more responsive, but at the end of the day I am going which one feels best while I sleep. I do not have a bed with either, So I am up for either.
For some reason my experience was the opposite. When I met my husband we had a latex mattress it was super comfortable, cool, and I did sink in slightly. The only problem it was queen size. At that time I weighed 120lbs(I'm averaged sized woman) and him 245lbs(he's 6ft 3" and was all muscle) he had it for maybe 6 years before me and we kept it for an additional 1 year. We switched to memory foam because it was cheaper and we wanted a king..... first 2 months it was great... after that it started to wear down it felt like I was sleeping on a hill I would literally roll down to my husband's side. It was also a cooling effect but it still got hot easily. For us we did not like the memory foam. Throughout the years we've slightly gained weight and that's making the memory foam not hold up anymore lol. Definitely getting the latex customized to be firm on bottom medium in meddle and soft on top. Since we both like sinking and we are side sleepers.
What latex beds are fully adjustable with the layers? I too am shopping for a latex mattress...

@@shawn1869 Check out the Mattress Makers videos. They go over other mattresses but also their own products which are made of multiple layers of latex so there is a firm, medium firm and soft layer. They even point out how the purchaser can switch out the layers if they find the mattress too firm or soft by just switching which layer is on top. There's also the possibility to replace a layer if it starts to fall apart, but given the expected life time for latex mattresses that shouldn't be necessary for a decade or more.
Need that pressure relief!! Memory foam!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
thank you just now purchased sleepyhead sense cooling foam mattress online

Definitely would have to go with Latex. They just seem to be more cool and would last me a lot longer. I do seem to be on a budget so that would really be helpful in my case. Thank you for this review.
Latex is more expensive
Hey Marten, awesome review as usual! And you're so pleasant and delightful to watch :-)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Need the pressure relief for my shoulders and I sleep hot so I need a memory foam latex mattress if there is such a thing. I have a 3inch soft latex topper and I love it! The fact that it is a soft dunlop latex it provides me instant pressure relief.
Got it. It's by Lucid and it's the best mattress I've ever had.
Excellent man thank you
The Q n A at the end was just a pop quiz for the viewer to see if they were paying attention :D
I spent 4k on my memory foam mattress, had it for 8 years now. It was good initially, despite sleeping hot but about 18 months ago it has lost its firmness so I sag a lot in bed now. Its giving me back pain so going for the latex next.
Get a latex topper instead
see as much as i like that latex sleeps cooler , I honestly think memory foam is a much better option. I am a side sleeper so its definitely better for me. I keep dreaminf of the day Ill be able to have one, let alone just so i can finally not be in pain. ty so much for the info. i didnt really know the differerence before so I appriciate it. im so much more bed smart now that I watch your videos :)
I need pressure relief for neck and shoulders. I also need to sleep cooler and not sink. Maybe the latex although skeptical.
I like memory foam but I agree it seeps hot. I need a cool sleeping memory foam
I got the Cocoon Chill and it isn’t near as hot as the memory foam I used back in the day. It has some “phase change material” cover that supposedly transfers heat.
Hi, which foam would better suit for sofa base foam- Memory/Latex/PU?
Thank you man, I bought the best mattress for me with your help
Glad I could help
@@Mattressclarity you never mention the toxic chemicals and fiberglass. you only say positive things. you are a paid advertiser for the mattress industry. shame on you.
Good info for new buyers
As a side sleeper I am definitely a memory foam person. I appreciate the pressure relief and the motion isolation. Though they tend to sleep a little hotter there are many memory foam beds that add cooling elements.
That is until you reach some age on the bed and the memory foam support just goes away and it sags and you hit the "base foam" and now all of a sudden you have pressure points.
Our Memory foam mattress was firm and great and sunk in for the first year or two. Then with time the memory foam lost it support and now it's just divot in the space I sleep and the nice "support/cradling" is gone and shoulders and hip hit on the base firm foam and causes me to toss and turn often to relieve pressure..
Hence why we're going with Hybrid mattress and Latex foam instead. The coils/springs will keep the support and not compact completely like sagging foam and the Latex will still be 4 inches of soft layered foam.. Will be the best of both world of support and softness.
I have 12k tempurpedic luxebreeze. It’s hot af every day I wake up same with my gf I’m 210lb she is 120lb
Love the latex for its natural cooling properties and durability but as a side sleeper i need for pressure relief for shoulders and hips
The memory foam would be a good option for me. I am always waking up to pain in my shoulders and hips, this mattress seem great for pain and pressure relief.
Jeremy Mclaughlin im thinking the same.
Try exercise
It seems like the best option would be to get a mattress that uses latex as the top layer and memory foam underneath.
Never heard of such a mattress.

I‘m going to buy one exactly like that! 🙂

What should be the layering composition and density of a memory foam mattress for side sleepers with back pain.
Can a medium natural latex mattress give comfort & support ? Is one layer enough for this ? What should be thickness of the layer ?
I do like latex but prefer memory foam for allowing you to sink-in slowly and great for pressure relief
Ok nice video though my doubt is not clear yet. So currently we have a mattress that has sagged real deep within course of 1 and half years which is pretty soon. I don't know which type it is. Surely its not memory foam. I am definitely not looking for memory foam. But from where i am there are not much options for mattress types. Mattress comes with these name hotel spring mattress, bonnel spring mattress, pocket spring mattress, memory foam mattress, full foam mattress so which one should i choose among these if i want a mattress that does not sink with a right firmness and long-lasting?
Get a latex mattress with both a hard side and a soft side on top. Very soft and cool. Even with so many rubber trees and latex mattress factories in Thailand the price here is still very costly. Cost me around 1200 usd for a king size mattress. But I think it is definitely worth it.
That pressure relief from memory foam might be nice, but if it starts to lose it's "density" and start to sag, that pressure relief is all but gone because it's going to compact down to the "support" foam that is harder and now all of a sudden you will feel pressure points because all the cushioning support is gone.. Latex overall could possibly better because it's still soft foam.
Well for me a pretty heavy person, and also for my wife not heavy. Our all foam mattress with the memory foam on top bed is now just really bad. It has created divots for me and memory support is all but gone and I feel more pressure points so I toss and turn, yet sleep in an area because of the "pocket/divot" smaller than a tiny full/twin area and the whole king size mattress is useless. It's like a fricken hill to try and lay more in the middle and you can't get it to "even out" because it would take equal amount of time as it did for the part that lost it's retention.
Our choice is going to be Hybrid pocket coil and probably Latex foam to retain the bed shape and still have cushioning and support. I think even if I wasn't as heavy, I would still ruin an all foam mattress over time with it losing it's rebound/density.
Im wondering about how much more cooler is a gel mem foam compared to latex? I just dont like being hot at all in my bed.
For a new matress too firm. Should i go for a bit more softness with 2" or 3" latex on top ? Thank u
Can you do a video explaining pros and cons of "foam spring" mattresses? Apparently, there's a layer of bouncy foam in the middle that acts like a spring.
Which mattress would you recommend for someone who is 5’5” weighs about 180lbs and has chronic low back pain or better yet for someone who struggles with degenerative disc disease? I am mostly a side sleeper that occasionally sleeps on my back. I tend to feel an ache that burns my lumbar area with memory foam toppers I have tried.
If you have a recommendation for a mattress topper that would be helpful and preferred as I currently have a very firm mattress.
easy. most popular is cooling top layer + natural latex layer + Memory foam layer + coconut fiber base, some even have pocket springs before coconut fibre
I have firm latex, it’s cool. I have a wool topper, which acts as a comfort layer, otherwise I get a pressure point on my hip.
Hi! I'm a side sleeper with a bad back. I usually lie on my back and then fall asleep that way but then I'll end switching to my side during the night. Which would be better for me?
Thanks for the video! My feeling is that memory foam is not as good as latex, and the memory foam material tends to harden for a long time, which is very uncomfortable. And I think a luxurious mattress needs a luxurious latex pillow! I bought a Thai solid latex pillow. It is called LAYTEX. It's environmentally friendly and can sleep until dawn. It is the largest latex pillow manufacturer in Thailand. It is medium-firm, soft, and comfortable, supports my neck well, and relieves my head and neck pain. I haven't snored since I got this latex pillow!
hi ,all their is availability for both combination memory form and latex mattresses together , which i m going to buy tomorrow . spacial _ sale price is $ 600 for queen size , hope to see worth it for that price
i think latex is for me as it offers more support although it is more expensive and latex sleeps cooler.

So something I don't see mentioned in these reviews is the consideration of bounciness when getting it on. I heard that memory foam mattresses can be very saggy in that aspect, and that this is something couples should consider. Is that true?
I am even more confused now which type of mattresses should I buy. they both have advantages I want ... but good info thanks

Can you use a latex topper over a puffy mattress to firm it up?
Memory foam bed is sagging in less than 2 months already.. my next purchase will be latex mattress. I didn't even know about latex mattresses..
I'm not sure if the benefits outweight the cons. I've slept on both materials only to see my health going downhill. There are so many harmful chemicals inside these types of foam.... many people experience side effects such as headaches, rashes, allergies, respiratory problems. I also had brutal snoring problems and respiratory allergies from memory foam. Everything changed when I bought a 100% natural wool mattress and my health improved in a matter of days. I think this industry needs a breathe of fresh air, too much chemicals are in use nowadays. Highly recommend you guys see what kind of natural alternatives are there, especially wool.

Hi,
I have tried multiple beds the last few months and have decided to try latex since none of them were right for me.
Can you tell me which latex bed you would recommend for me?
I am 120 pounds, combination sleeper. I do not like the feel of memory foam and prefer more of a traditional mattress feel, like I am on top of the mattress rather than sinking into it.
