Memory foam and latex are pretty different in terms of the feel and experience they offer. Memory foam is slow-moving and great with pressure relief, and #latex is bouncier and better with support.
Memory foam mattresses are better for side sleepers who need more pressure relief on their shoulders and hips. Also, those who need a #mattress to deal with pain issues should consider something with memory foam. Finally, they are better mattresses for couples and they are more affordable mattresses as well.
Latex mattresses, on the other hand, are better for hot sleepers and those who prefer sleeping “on top” of their mattress. In addition, they are more durable mattresses that shouldn’t sag, even under the weight of a larger person. Also, they are usually more eco-friendly mattresses because they contain all-natural materials.

For some reason my experience was the opposite. When I met my husband we had a latex mattress it was super comfortable, cool, and I did sink in slightly. The only problem it was queen size. At that time I weighed 120lbs(I'm averaged sized woman) and him 245lbs(he's 6ft 3" and was all muscle) he had it for maybe 6 years before me and we kept it for an additional 1 year. We switched to memory foam because it was cheaper and we wanted a king..... first 2 months it was great... after that it started to wear down it felt like I was sleeping on a hill I would literally roll down to my husband's side. It was also a cooling effect but it still got hot easily. For us we did not like the memory foam. Throughout the years we've slightly gained weight and that's making the memory foam not hold up anymore lol. Definitely getting the latex customized to be firm on bottom medium in meddle and soft on top. Since we both like sinking and we are side sleepers.

They go over other mattresses but also their own products which are made of multiple layers of latex so there is a firm, medium firm and soft layer. They even point out how the purchaser can switch out the layers if they find the mattress too firm or soft by just switching which layer is on top. There's also the possibility to replace a layer if it starts to fall apart, but given the expected life time for latex mattresses that shouldn't be necessary for a decade or more.

That is until you reach some age on the bed and the memory foam support just goes away and it sags and you hit the "base foam" and now all of a sudden you have pressure points.
Our Memory foam mattress was firm and great and sunk in for the first year or two. Then with time the memory foam lost it support and now it's just divot in the space I sleep and the nice "support/cradling" is gone and shoulders and hip hit on the base firm foam and causes me to toss and turn often to relieve pressure..
Hence why we're going with Hybrid mattress and Latex foam instead. The coils/springs will keep the support and not compact completely like sagging foam and the Latex will still be 4 inches of soft layered foam.. Will be the best of both world of support and softness.

Surely its not memory foam. I am definitely not looking for memory foam. But from where i am there are not much options for mattress types. • @AlphademonAlphademon

Get a latex mattress with both a hard side and a soft side on top. Very soft and cool. Even with so many rubber trees and latex mattress factories in Thailand the price here is still very costly. Cost me around 1200 usd for a king size mattress. But I think it is definitely worth it.

  • @loki76
    @loki76 Před 2 lety +6

That pressure relief from memory foam might be nice, but if it starts to lose it's "density" and start to sag, that pressure relief is all but gone because it's going to compact down to the "support" foam that is harder and now all of a sudden you will feel pressure points because all the cushioning support is gone.. Latex overall could possibly better because it's still soft foam.
Well for me a pretty heavy person, and also for my wife not heavy. Our all foam mattress with the memory foam on top bed is now just really bad. It has created divots for me and memory support is all but gone and I feel more pressure points so I toss and turn, yet sleep in an area because of the "pocket/divot" smaller than a tiny full/twin area and the whole king size mattress is useless. It's like a fricken hill to try and lay more in the middle and you can't get it to "even out" because it would take equal amount of time as it did for the part that lost it's retention.
Our choice is going to be Hybrid pocket coil and probably Latex foam to retain the bed shape and still have cushioning and support. I think even if I wasn't as heavy, I would still ruin an all foam mattress over time with it losing it's rebound/density.

Thanks for the video! My feeling is that memory foam is not as good as latex, and the memory foam material tends to harden for a long time, which is very uncomfortable. And I think a luxurious mattress needs a luxurious latex pillow! I bought a Thai solid latex pillow. It is called LAYTEX. It's environmentally friendly and can sleep until dawn. It is the largest latex pillow manufacturer in Thailand. It is medium-firm, soft, and comfortable, supports my neck well, and relieves my head and neck pain. I haven't snored since I got this latex pillow!

I'm not sure if the benefits outweight the cons. I've slept on both materials only to see my health going downhill. There are so many harmful chemicals inside these types of foam.... many people experience side effects such as headaches, rashes, allergies, respiratory problems. I also had brutal snoring problems and respiratory allergies from memory foam. Everything changed when I bought a 100% natural wool mattress and my health improved in a matter of days. I think this industry needs a breathe of fresh air, too much chemicals are in use nowadays. Highly recommend you guys see what kind of natural alternatives are there, especially wool.

    Hi,
I have tried multiple beds the last few months and have decided to try latex since none of them were right for me.
Can you tell me which latex bed you would recommend for me?
I am 120 pounds, combination sleeper. I do not like the feel of memory foam and prefer more of a traditional mattress feel, like I am on top of the mattress rather than sinking into it. I sleep hot, and all of the hybrid beds I have tried claim to be cooling but are not at all. I prefer a balance of soft but firm for support. I have watched so many videos as well as read many reviews and cannot figure out which would be best for me and I am tired of buying and returning. Please help!

Latex all the way. I don’t like sinking in, I sleep hot on my memory foam mattress and I want something more durable. But I’m still going to keep my tempurpedic. Maybe in a few more years I’ll be ready for that big purchase and get a nice Saatva all latex mattress.

I got a tempur pedic adapt and it has been the worse bed with memory foam I have ever sleep on. I had to buy a mattress topper made with latex and overall has improved my sleep and made me a believer of latex. Once I finish paying the tempurpedic bed I will go with latex or hybird latex bed. The experience with Tempurpedic has scared me of trying or buying a memory foam mattress ever again
