Used to have some big discussions on culture, politics etc. Anyway asked him one day why has balanced in his views, he replied went on his OE and met his 'other' relatives. Apparently they were pretty pleased to see the Maori boy from NZ and he said after he couldn't deny that part of his own makeup as being relevant to who he was.
