      And by being children, they should be learning about who they are and where they came from. And that shouldn't be sugar coated. We shouldn't shield children from reality. The only thing that does is foster resentment later in life because at some point those children grow up realising their entire child hood was a lie. And then they have to start learning about themselves later in life. Their culture, their heritage and EVERYTHING that goes with that is what children should be learning from a young age. Children are resilient. We should never shield them from who they are because its inconvenient for us.

      In many instances they are told the truth. Anyone would be angry. The truth hurts, both ways.
      The goal is unity. I hope you have investigated enough to know all the truth. Pakeha as well as Maori have cherry pickers.
      Anger doesn't need to equal violence. Maybe a hearty haka. The kind that raises the hair at the back of your neck.
      It is merely an expression of emotions and in some instance a warning that a line although invisible to some has been drawn in the sands of time....and so are the days of our lives.
      Much Aroha to you and your whanau Paul.

      @@tracymichaelsen493 We absolutely need untiy, but we can NEVER have it, until the wrongs of the past are righted. The injustices corrected and/ or compensated for, and we should keep fighting until that happens. Until then, unity is a pipedream, a fantasy, a lie. No one should EVER accept their culture, and therefor THEMSELVES being walked over, and being treated like a 2nd class citizen because its more convenient for the white majority. There is no unity until there is equality, and there is no equality when injustice is accepted and never addressed or corrected.

    Shane Jones has his head in his a$$. Children NEED to be learning who they are and where they came from from a young age. We should NEVER EVER shield or shelter our kids from inconvenient truths. All we are doing is basing their entire existence on a lie because its more convenient for us. NO WAY. We shouldn't lie to our kids. We teach them about the reality of who they are and where they come from, and we teach them the good AND the bad. And if they want to ask questions, we should answer them honestly. Kids are resilient. Shane may lie to his own children for his own convenience, but that doesn't mean the rest of us should.

      So, tell me. You teach your children about your colonisation of NZ, the following slaughter of Moriori, infanticide, cannibalism, your homeland of Taiwan, your intertribal warfare, your really bad health, unemployment and crime stats and your many given advantages while claiming continuous victimhood status? Be honest Rangi, We both know about your rewritten version of history.

    • @Arms26
      @Arms26 Před 2 dny +1

      @@GaryPeters-nv8pjYes. I teach her about colonisation. I teach her about inter tribal warfare, colonisation, the fact that one of her iwi she whakapapa's back to are considered "kupapa" traitors for their role in the NZ Land Wars in siding with the British against her other Iwi which fought alongside the Kingitanga during the invasion of the Waikato. I teach her what I know, including Te Reo Maori, why she has to learn Te Reo at home while she must learn English at school. I teach her about the fact that her Mana Whenua is on one side of town, stolen by the colonizers who built a road straight through the middle of our urupa, while the rest of our whanau were herded onto what is effectively a reservation on the other side of town where there are no street lights, no footpaths, no Police (unless of course something bad happens) no nothing, because no one gives a s**t. Those are the lasting effects of mass land confiscation. Poverty, premature death, no trust of the government, incarceration. These are daily occurrences for us. You people treat them as talking points, to us its life. To us its reality, and it all goes back to Injustice, theft of land, Raupatu, mass land confiscation by the NZ Government. But we will NEVER stop fighting.

Their whanau land was STOLEN by their own government. Their native language suppressed by the same governmental institution. Why do their people live in poverty? Why do their people make up the majority of incarcerated people? Why don't their people trust the government? The short answer is INJUSTICE. And they need to know the world is NOT sunshine and rainbows. Thats the LIE.

      @@paulmatijevich2188 sheltering them from the truth is a lie. Teaching them the world is all sunshine, rainbows and unicorns when we know the world is far from that is also lying to them. They can handle the truth, certainly more than Adults can.
