And by being children, they should be learning about who they are and where they came from. And that shouldn't be sugar coated. We shouldn't shield children from reality. The only thing that does is foster resentment later in life because at some point those children grow up realising their entire child hood was a lie. And then they have to start learning about themselves later in life. Their culture, their heritage and EVERYTHING that goes with that is what children should be learning from a young age. Children are resilient. We should never shield them from who they are because its inconvenient for us.

Shane Jones has his head in his a$$. Children NEED to be learning who they are and where they came from from a young age. We should NEVER EVER shield or shelter our kids from inconvenient truths. All we are doing is basing their entire existence on a lie because its more convenient for us. NO WAY. We shouldn't lie to our kids. Kids are resilient. Shane may lie to his own children for his own convenience, but that doesn't mean the rest of us should.
So, tell me. You teach your children about your colonisation of NZ, the following slaughter of Moriori, infanticide, cannibalism, your homeland of Taiwan, your intertribal warfare, your really bad health, unemployment and crime stats and your many given advantages while claiming continuous victimhood status? Be honest Rangi, We both know about your rewritten version of history.

I teach her about inter tribal warfare, colonisation, the fact that one of her iwi she whakapapa's back to are considered "kupapa" traitors for their role in the NZ Land Wars in siding with the British against her other Iwi which fought alongside the Kingitanga during the invasion of the Waikato. I teach her what I know, including Te Reo Maori, why she has to learn Te Reo at home while she must learn English at school. I teach her about the fact that her Mana Whenua is on one side of town, stolen by the colonizers who built a road straight through the middle of our urupa, while the rest of our whanau were herded onto what is effectively a reservation on the other side of town where there are no street lights, no footpaths, no Police (unless of course something bad happens) no nothing, because no one gives a s**t. Those are the lasting effects of mass land confiscation. Poverty, premature death, no trust of the government, incarceration. These are daily occurrences for us. Yet the Government still continue to steal maori land like its still 1864

Shane speaks a lot of common sense. A great orator.
Shane is doing a wonderful job . BRAVO BRAVO , Common Sense
Make sure that the minning companies pay the same money to kiwi employees as they do in australia..
Ae tika Matua. The radical Maori establishment is a WEF UN initiative.
Agree Shane,
It is unfortunate that the people calling themselves "Maori" hate themselves.
So you must be one of them people who hate yourself unfortunately..
Let the dolphins be dolphins 😂

Quite right
@waatea news, would you like to interview some of the “kids” who helped write and performed this piece?
Tell the aussies as well that we will tax you well if you come to take our minerals
Children grooming isn't popular either
Except for some 'particular' groups.
I dunno. Im not maori, but im anti our government.
Shane, can you please ask luxflake what a woman is?
Kids aren't stupid they know when they here bullcrap

Congrats on being one of a select few politicians ever who have the balls to front up and say it how it is... even if it becomes dribble
After Nationals and NZFs turncoat politics with this media bs I think Shane needs to jump ship to ACT
