There's Cruelty Squad, an immersive sim game. Literally every implant is an organ, and they have an intestine grappling hook.
If y’all want a written story with biopunk, may I direct you to Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld. It includes both diesel punk and biopunk. There are airships in this book that are essentially flying living whale ships.
Enderfire1st _ that sounds awesome!
@@NylasWUP It's also based on World War 1
No that’s steampunk
@@norseczar27 Actually yes, but also no. WW1 is both since steam power was still widely used but diselpower was also on the rise.
@@SuspiciouslyGroomedPegasus I see your point
Akira feels like an awesome blend of biopunk and cyberpunk
Definitely
40k would also be a blend of bio and cyberpunk
@@spencervance8484 mainly the tyranids
My personal favorite, probably because my favorite science class was biology and I grew fascinated by genetic engineering. I wrote a few while in high school but nothing stuck. Perhaps one day.....
Prototype is a biopunk game
Coronavirus is biopunk
I would like to recommend the Unwind book series for people interested in what I consider to be biopunk.
So resident evil is biopunk
Sort off, I mean Biopunk doesn't have a standard setting like Cyberpunk has with distopya
@@seguraavilaoscar8543 but it does it’s ok n the name lol
If the mansion incident never happened and umbrella went full world ruling mega Corp I could see it. Biohazard 2977 would be fun game.
its biopunk adjacent. It has biopunk aspects, but it isn't biopunk.
Biopunk is the oldest subgenre of science fiction, born at the same and in the same book: Frankenstein.
With biopunk, I have to mention one of my favorite unexpected biopunk games: ULTRAKILL. Yes, Ultrakill is biopunk: V1 and most other robots are fueled from blood and have INTERNAL ORGANS, Demons are literally twisted flesh made animate by Hell... quite biopunk despite its mostly machine-based exterior
Ultrakill is SUPER biopunk just didn’t have the time to cover it.
@@NylasWUP fair enough! I just don’t think it gets brought up enough in biopunk convos
Biopunk strangely has a 90s feel to it. Like it’s the reaction to the culture and zeitgeist of the time.
Has there been biopunk stories before and after, definitely, but I can’t help but notice it a lot in 90s movies.
yeah first biopunk novel was published in 1984, slowly gained traction and it took off in the 90s
Yeah I can definitely see the 90s feel
I'd say that a strange blending of metal and flesh would also fit biopunk, something like a gun or cannon being shoved into a hippo or elephant and used as a tank equivalent. It could even be just said hippo/elephant having metal plated implanted on to them and used to fight a war.
damn i was so happy you talked even for a moment about guyver
When I think of Biopunk I think of Scorn.
Scorn is very biopunk. Great atmosphere and art style I wish it had existed when I made the is video so I could spotlight it.
I don't really think of giger as Biopunk. I'd call it Biomech. I'd put the recent game Crete in the same camp, altho a bit more punk then mech.
Biopunk is definitely more focused towards the flesh. Scorn is definitely more Biopunk.
Then something like Agony is more Fleshcore?
I'm not sure where to put something like eXistenZ tho... yes, the movie is mid, but the concept is fascinating.
So i guess Biopunk would be between Fleshcore and Biomech
I think it's good to have different names for these things to add a bit more specificity. It's already pretty hard to define Biopunk.
Been awhile since I've heard a Venus Wars reference.
Yeah I’m nothing if not topical
I should direct y'all to Cruelty Squad.
That is one of the most biopunk things I’ve seen in a while and super 90’s
Is there a -punk with the aesthetics of the 60s and seventies (when punk rock actually got big),? What did they even think the future would look like then?
2:37 - what's the title of this videogame?
Mass Effect
I have deformities and am a freak I LOVE niopunk snd got into it recently
Masayoshi Takanaka is fire.
We need a blend of bio punk and diesel punk
Check out the leviathan trilogy by Scott westernfield
I thought biodiesel punk was the combination of bio and diesel, not the idea of biodiesel as a fuel source.
@@NylasWUP can you please do a steampunk video? I wanted to know a little more about it besides knowing machines needing coal, fire and water in order for them to operate.
@@PMIII sorry man I can’t. The big two of cyberpunk and steampunk are the last 2 videos I’m doing. The shows about highlighting punk genres that don’t get a lot of attention.
@@NylasWUP oh, that's okay ☺️
So...does the game Scorn fall into the biopunk category?
YUP! Thanks for bring this to my attention it looks Friggen awesome!
Wow I was about to comment this yeah that game's development is gonna take forever. It looks freaken gross but interesting.
Biopunk and splatterpunk mixed together i'd say
Look up a game called "Wrought Flesh"
Awesome I was watching the progression of this game on Tiktok but didn’t know it came out thanks!
I've got to recommend the Leviathan Trilogy by Scott Westerfeld.
You are the second person recommended that series on this video. Must be a good series.
@@NylasWUP Yep, though it is a little light on the action, considering it's the early days of WW1 and the conclusion feels a little like a cliffhanger while making the Americans look like the catalyst of the war's ending. In reality, US military involvement only turned the tide after four years of war had exhausted all of Europe; here they showed up only months after the war started, meaning it wouldn't end the war but escalate it.
So basically everything is biomechanical.
and heavy gene manipulation/cloning in society
If you ever want to collaborate on a comic let me know.
Yeah I’d be down hit me up on Insta it’s the best way to chat with me.
