    Happiness is not money, but happiness is seeing your life stable, your child happy, and your future bright. Sometimes we need money to make us happy, but it's not the money itself, but what the money brings us.

      Regards from Scandinavia where people work for a living, whatever they do, they earn ENOUGH to manage, to own houses and cars, and whatever they want. And if you really want to be that special snowflake you can reach for the stars too. Here... EVERYONE has a chance, the movie showed me that there's something wrong with a system that ALLOWS parents to sleep in a urin infested bathroom with their KIDS. The idea was great, execution was good, but the bigger picture if clearly wrong, on so many things.

      michael jordan michael jordan Trump paid more taxes than Bernie, Obama or Clinton in the year he released his returns for.
      Not only did Trump pay more $ in tax, he paid a higher % than those other people.
      And Janitor’s, Burger flippers and garbagemen wouldn’t instantly die if they got cancer. They would have health insurance through their work, and the government does provide emergency life saving care when there is no alternative.
      I didn’t say that Chris Gardner worked harder, but he took more risks, he made more sacrifices. He had such a hard time, sleeping on the streets etc because he was doing an unpaid internship so he could get the job he really wanted. Janitors burger flippers and garbage men don’t have it as hard as Chris did. He now gets paid a lot more than those jobs because of those sacrifices.
      But what exactly is the point your trying to make?
      What would you change about this system to make it better than it is?

      I disagree. PMRants made a video earlier this year titled "Will Smith: An Unfortunate Truth" that convinced me that he's not a great actor. He makes an interesting point about what makes a good actor and I'd recommend you to watch it. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

    • @Crosby4hyg
      @Crosby4hyg Před 8 lety +1

      plasmanarwhal
      PMRants' video is no different from my comment, it's an opinion. He's of the opinion that Smith is a great performer, but not a great actor because he can't make you identify with his movie roll instead of his real name. I can understand what he's saying, I just don't agree. I don't judge him by his biggest hits like Independence Day or Men in Black, I judge him by movies like The Legend of Bagger Vance. I also think people don't give him enough credit for I am Legend. Sure he's done some shitty movies, Hancock and After Earth being the two that immediately come to mind, but I can't think of one major actor who hasn't made a few shitty movies in the course of their career.

    • @plasmanarwhal
      @plasmanarwhal Před 8 lety

      That makes sense, I guess it's about what aspects of an actor that the viewer focuses most on. Some, like myself, focus mostly on how memorable the actor makes the character, which is why I like PMRants' "Do you remember the character's name?"-test. Others may focus more on the actor's ability to adopt the role and their ability to emulate a range of emotions and characteristics, which, based off this scene in Pursuit of Happyness, I assume that's where you stand. Thanks for getting back!

I wouldn't have minded a tie between the three of them because they were all excellent in those films, Will's like Tom Cruise & DiCaprio, should've won about five Oscars by now or at least nominated for more. Ali, Seven Pounds, Collateral Beauty, Pursuit of Happyness, I Am Legend, Six Degrees of Seperation etc.

It is an emotional reward usually attained after a long and arduous struggle. You will have to work hard, go hungry, and visit the depths of human emotion to find it. An emotional state you once had as a little child which somehow evaporated after you began this pursuit.

    This scene is exactly how i felt when i was 9 or 10 and i wore my new Nautica gear to skating rink and finally had the balls to ask the girl of my dreams if she wanted to skate with me and she said yes, i even got a little peck kiss later, i was so damn happy. I cried a couple tears of pure happiness in the car when my pops came to pick me up after it was over, when i told him why i was crying, he said "i understand". That was the power of Nautica back in the 90's.

That feeling when you've toiled and worked hard for so long and finally got to the top of that mountain, knowing that from this day on things will get easier that you just can't help but smile and clap your hands because you couldn't believe it is happening.

    I wish I could experience this more often. The feeling he has I haven't had in a very long time. I'm only 15 but nothing goes just a tiny bit my way. You may think I'm exaggerating or looking for pity. I'm not I'm telling it how it is and I'm sure there others like me in the comment section who just wish and plead for something to go there way just once. My parents broke up 9 years ago since then my life has gone downhill. For example:My mum struggles to find and keep jobs and my dad isn't always around when I need him. School is miserable I've been in secondary school for 4-5 years now and I've applied for about 6 or 7 trips at the school and I haven't been chosen to go on a single one. My grades are good C's-B's. This year the school chose all the teenagers in our year group to spend a day at a university. I was disappointed to find out they has sent me to Bedford whereas they sent a large majority of students to Cambridge and Oxford. Despite most of them having poor behaviour. The system is unfair and broken but that's life. You just have to get back up and keep moving forward. Anyway I sincerely hope those who read this get back up and change what's going wrong in there life for the good. Stop acting like you owe people favours you want something get up and go get. It's hard trust me I know and I still haven't gotten out the negative zone but in the end it will all be worth it.

    I loved this film and i'm glad i watched it before I read the book, because if i'd read the book first i would have been disappointed when I heard Will Smith took the role. the sad fact is that despite any benevolent work the real chris has done with his life since achieving success he was nowhere near as good a person (by his own admission) as the film portrays. he had demons, a temper, and low standards. the film is so out of sync with his own account of events it was like reading two different stories. to me it shows just how good Hollywood is at glossing over parts of stories and turning them into Disneyland myths... But hey... Will Smith is amazing and its a good yarn.. just not as autobiographical as you might imagine

    This same joy happened to me just recently. I just graduated college and nobody was hiring me. I had an IT Degree and a History Minor. I was denied bagging groceries, working at a call center, being an IT helpdesk guy, Human Resources, sales, I couldnt even get a job being a secretary. The only job I could get was being a glorified warehouse worker moving computer desktops. Then one day I went in for an interview for a database analyst for a defense contracter that secured a 107 million dollar contract with the navy. The interviewer was wearing a 50 thousand dollar watch with an absolutely grandiose suit. The only qualifications I had was I did some minor database work my freshmen year in college. The day after the interview at 9ish in the morning they called me asking if I wanted the job. I ran out of the warehouse and cried because at this point I thought I was doomed to never accomplish anything and had lost all hope.
