even i asked the same question to my teacher . she told that the oxygen form in water is uncumbustable, oxygen should only be in gas form. the constituent elements of a compound differ from the element itself.
      here water - H2+O=H20
      H- EXPLOSIVE GAS
      O- CUMBUSTION
      BUT water extinguishes fire.
      SOOO... you get it.
not the best explaination, becuase even i am in 6th

      short answer- no
long answer- when hydrogen gets mixed with oxygen the result is oxygen
hydrogen is flamable but oxygen is not
yes oxygen is a fuel and supports combustion ozugen cant be burnt
      if you are confused :
a candle will burn only if there is oxygen but the candle wont burn the whole oxygen constitute in the air that will put the whole world on fire.
so where were we? yes, hydrogen combines with oxygen the result is water, when the atoms of hydrogen and oxygen get linked they make a molecule with completely diffrent properties You can't burn pure water, which is why we use it to put out fires instead of starting them
      but you can burn hydrogen
