That a very big myth about the kneeding and suckling and how the cats were taken away from their mother to early. Just a myth! The real reason they do that is because it a sign that they are happy and the they love the person they are doing it to..
Hi my cats do that and I felt rlly bad because I kept thinking I traumaized them from taking them too young from their mother or they do it because of stress. I am very happy that it is a myth if what you're saying is correct, not to sound rude or anything.
Yes! Also, when they did "kneading" when they were babies, they did that to stimulate the mother to give milk.
it can be both, but it is most likely a happy thing as all cats do it at some point. all of my cats do it so yeah

they knead when they're feeling happy or content because they associate the motion with the comforts of nursing and the mother.

I can honestly say Catan is one of the most beautiful cats I've ever seen. He looks like a mix of my favourite breeds, ie, Abyssinian, Maine Coon and Tabby.
he seems to have adjusted really well since you brought him home, hes so cuddly and affectionate
When my cat and dog first met my dog was super scared of cat and then after few days they were sleeping together IT WAS SOOOO CUTEE😊😍
Don't stress your cat out by trying to toilet train him. I tried it with my young cat (would definitely not do it with an older cat) and it was so stressful and confusing for her. Cats have a built-in instinct for covering up their pee/poo, which gets suppressed by toilet training. As most of us would love to get rid of the kitty box, it's not in the best interest of our cats.
Like another commenter mentioned, the whole kneading being caused by early separation from their mother is a myth. Mine is a huge kneader and suckles all my soft blankets especially if I am under them and she was no way separated too early. He’s just relaxed and loves you! ❤️
My theory is that that reflex just stays with cats when they grow up, some more some less but pretty sure all cats I saw that were relaxed and enjoying themselves were kneading

my cat reminds me a lot of your cat! (tho he was never afraid of dogs and he likes to act like mister confident and somehow isnt scared of new places he really likes visiting other homes like my friends or my parents) he also suckles! idk how u got him to use a blanket mine does it to my earlobe usually in the early morning when he wants cuddles and gets a little clingy.

My cat does this to his blanket. Ever since j first got him hes been attached to as certain blankets and he sucks on it all the time but only if were petting him / right there with him. He's almost 3 years old and still does it, and we got him at 6 weeks old (rescue) . pretty sure it is because he got taken away from his mom too early.

It is because he was removed from his mother early its its perfectly normal and a lot of cats do it.

Both of my cats knead and the younger one wasnt separated from the mother at all my older cat is her mother. And the older one does it too. Think it's just a thing cats do

I found my cat only about to six weeks old I was very worried about her because she was an outside cat but she did have a scratch under her eye and a scratch on her paw and immediately I wanted to bring her inside and help her get better but ai knew it would take a few days for her wounds to get better but I found her on May 29, 2018
But now she's doing better she looks like a Loaf but now She's an indoor and outdoor cat 🐱😁

the best way is to put the catan inside a carrier and let him get use to boomer.
Kneading is super normal but the suckling tends to be linked to being removed from mama too soon, it’s a comfort thing like a baby sucking their thumb

My cat birthday is July 19 , and the more you build the relationship with your cat he would obey you so much and it’s crazy because cats thinks they own you , but I have my cat since he was 6 months and now he is 2 years old , he follows me everywhere and when I was introducing him to my sister dog , he literally went to go charge at him until I yelled “hey” and right there I knew that he trusted me it’s not really good to touch cats when they are fluffed up but once I pet my cat his tail go downs. My cat is mellow really mellow he doesn’t fight my brothers cat even though my brothers cat love to play fight with him , but what even type of person you are , your cat can pick up how your vibe is. My cat knows me so well, he is like service cat to me , he knows when I’m hurting ,when I’m sick, when I’m crying he comes and licks my tears and lays with me almost all the time , I find cats really interesting, and i love mines so much

Ahh!!! Your cat is so cute! I really want a cat but my mom's allergic :(. We could get a cat but my mom's allergic (as I said) and I have 3 dogs who never been around cats and probably will fight with the cat. I also have two bunnies and two birds so probably not a good idea. When in older I'll definitely get a cat.

I really like how you slowly let the cat explore the house and situation. The potty training on a toilet is not a good thing for a feline. Just saying because you seem to care a lot about your cat. And i love that you adopted and Catan is a great name.

also after adding a comment to something else...dont put a collar on your cat. cats like exploring and squeezing into tight spaces and collars might end them up getting stuck or in the worst possible outcome make them strangle themselves
Krizefugl I’ve had cats for a very long time, 6 of them actually and they all had collars, no problem occurred. It’s better for a cat to wear a collar because if they get out people will know they have owners and some collars have numbers on them. But like yea I still agree that could happen

Microchipping is better. You don't ever want to see what happens to a cat with a collar. Had to bury a neighbor's cat.😢

Still think it's a Somali though striped in frontmm. The coat and other things remind me of mine. I breeded any markings out and Somalis have that dark stripe down the back and he's pretty well ticked. Ever thing's new to the cat so it's expected some adjustment time. You mentioned digestive. If diarrhea it could be tri trich a protozoa. Needs testing and treatment of Ronidazole. Tri trich is more common and mistaken for other problems. You can do it yourself with a swab test from UC Davis labs in California. It's online and all I had to do was sent in qtips rubbed in the cats mouth, tape to paper, write a check and mail in. I had two case before and no symptoms. It's a pretty thorough test that checks for other things too. I'd check it out. Many vets don't even know about tri trich. I had to tell them about it and they had to look it up. It couldn't hurt.
I brought my cat in from outside and I still can't seen to learn how to pet her. I am allowed to put her head and under her chin but only for a bit. I am so jealous of how confident you can is. ❤🙌🏼

Also, I brought my cat in at less than one year old and she went to the vet to be spayed, deformed, and basically anything and everything else. Except declawing because it is cruel. (Info for cat lovers)
Yadira Torres I would never declaw! He's fixed and is an indoor cat so he's pretty safe and is also chipped so if he gets out I can get him back.
Did you bring a feral cat in your house? Maybe thats why he won't let you touch you. Or did you meant by saying brought in that you adopted it?

She is spayed and chipped. If she gets out, I can get her back in easily but I dont let her out anymore to avoid disease exposure and for her to go back to her feral ways.

Yadira Torres but if a cat is feral you can't just bring her in?! Feral cats will hate it inside and will never live as fully and happily as outside. Excepts when you got her in the kitten age. Then she can get used to you. But please don't bring an adult feral cat into your home. I know you probably didn't mean it bad. Watch kitten ladys video about that.
