Hey guys! When are you planning to pay a visit to mainland Portugal?
Great video. For those not spending as many days as you in the Azores, how many days would you suggest to do it "right?" Thanks
1.5 months hahaha.. But i don't know.. If just 1 island.. like Sao Miguel at least 4-5 nights.
Great video. You are super white
Nice to see you enjoyed our islands ill have you know im from flores :) and i can i miss my island very much its amazing there
I can't believe that I found out about this by messing around on Google maps! Seriously, I was like, wtf are these islands? Amazing!!
I just done the exact same thing 😅 and now I'm on CZcams looking at videos about this place
SAME HERE!!! Thank You Google Maps
@@chetter0385 Im from Pico Im happy that some people know about us 😂😂
Me toooo
Same lol
I'm from America, but I'm mostly Portuguese. I've learned my family came from the Azores. I would so love to visit, embrace my culture, and experience the beautiful land my ancestors got to enjoy..
We’re in the same boat! Did you go yet?
THANK YOU TO PROMOTE OUR ISLANDS! IM FROM S JORGE I SAW MY HOUSE IN FAJA DOS CUBRES! ITS NICE TO SEE PEOPLE START TO KNOW TROUGHT THE INTERNET THE AZORES ISLANDS
I'm so excited to finally see where my dad was born. We are going in June from 1st and coming back on the 18th. I'm ready for the hiking!!!
Gui is the best! He and his wife are easily the best tour guides I've ever had the pleasure of touring with. They did an incredible tour of the island, volcano, and wineries on Terceira. I would book him again 10/10.
I just found out in my ancestry I’m more Portuguese than I thought! My great(x3) grandparents came from Pico island !!
Thank goodness for youtube, I get to travel to places I would never go. This is my way of contributing to keeping the environment clean
I'm from Flores Island💚 thanks for sharing our beautiful islands👐🏻
Id love to vist your island, it's so beautiful. ❤ from Australia
One of the best good paced travel-summaries I've seen. Entertaining and colorful in more than one way. Thank you & GOD bless
Was born and raised in the azores..loved it..sadly was to young while there to truly have enjoyed its wonders!
I've been to the Azores almost a dozen times so far (my parents were born there) it's pretty great that there's been so much Azores content lately but there's a part of me that is worried that it will become too touristy. One of the best things about those Islands is the fact that not many knew about it. Anyways, I'm just being an old man. Great job on the video.
It won't become too touristy they have a plan in place that will limit the amount of tourists the islands will accommodate they want to ensure a comfortable lifestyle for the locals and accommodate guests within reason but won't let it get overrun.
Come on....you gotta share the goodness. :)
And there are no beaches, which alone will avoid over-tourism as on the Canary Islands.
@@SebastianBecker i dont know where you got that... There is actually plenty of Beaches, but dark sand (excluding Santa Maria island). In São Miguel, the Beach of Ribeira Grande its even growing as a surf destinatation and there is now anually international surf competitions in there.
@@gordusmaximus4990 I've been to Sao Miguel (for about 1 week), but can't remember any particular beaches. It's beautiful, and even though you might find some beaches, it's far from what regular beach tourists want.
Thank you so much for sharing! I will plan a trip to Flores. Hopefully next year!
Keep it secret! Keep it safe!
Thats what im saying im 14 and I have been to the Azores 5 times and I so glad its not touristy
FUN FACT:
The Azores is the only autonomous division with three capitals. One for each branch of government: legislative (Horta/Faial), judicial (Angra, Terceira), and administrative/executive (Ponta Delgada, São Miguel).
No I want azores to be very visited we need you all and money too😂😂
Loved it and would love all the hiking and adventures in nature
I recently found out that my Ancestors were from these islands! Will be visiting very soon! Great video!
My mother's family is from Faial Island, they migrated to Florianópolis , Brazil around 250 years ago, lost contact with our island relatives, will go visit it one day. Any Cardozo from Faial Reading this?
Wow! That looks so so incredible! I love the scenery

We absolutely loved it there! We sailed there and then spent 10 months exploring the beautiful island chain :)
I am 💯 sure you really loved Azores, i watched 3 different videos about Azores and the common thing about the three was a comment of you saying how you much you loved being there. I am really glad you enjoyed, i never went there but my brother did and he loved it too.
Geez the waterfalls along the side of the mountain are unreal. Your tan is about as good as my tan gets haha. I will be marking this down for when I go. Great stuff

To add to your list when you return to azores: a walk inside the volcano crater in Corvo Island, Caldeirão. One of the most surreal landscape in Azores.

I got to live on Terceira for a little over a year. I loved it
Im portuguese, from Terceira island. I will give a tip best time to visit is from the start of March, we have a lot events (almost all the year to be fair, we celebrate a lot, at least Terceira we can almost be called a party island hahahahah)
Dont forget the cheese!!! Cheese of São Jorge! Queijo de São Jorge! The wine of Biscoitos (Terceira) is the best! Queijadas da Graciosa and of course Donas Amélias e filhoses.... e claro Alcatra!!!!!!!!! Acho que estou a esquecer de mais algumas coisa, mas pronto.
Great recap and highlights.
Thanks John
Probably will visit this place next year.

Boa viagem
Paulo Carreiro we will be there next Thursday - Saturday!
They will be with me ;)
Really interesting, keep up de good work.
Awesome! Love azores
My Portuguese culture
Thanks for the video! I would had that Lagoa do Fogo is the greatest vulcano sigth seen of Sao Miguel - It´s wilder and higher than Lagoa das 7 cidades, although 7 cidades it´s extreemely beautifull from the 3 main points of view: Vista do Rei, Boca do inferno and Miradouro da Cumieira, this last one for me the most bueautifull, specialy at sun dawn! Try Salto do Cavalo view point over lagoa das furnas and the village it self... Crazy beautifull!!
Keep posting this wonderfull experiences! Wish you the best
my grandparents are from the azores, really need to visit one day
Wow have to visit the Azores loved the info video would love to visit tersaida island hope I spelled it right.
Next time you should visit Santa Maria Azores i think you will be really impressed , how a small island cam contain so much beauty
Thanks for posting this. I flew back through the Azores on the way back from deployment. It was in the middle of the night and I didn't get to see anything from the air. Seeing it on video shows me that I missed a lot of beauty.
Thomas that was the least they could had done. Let our troops relax on the island that we have a base at for a week. Thanks for your service sir.
Good video love it
Awesome video! Azores its the best place in the world! Santa Maria is the Best island no doubt ;)
When I was watching google maps, I found this island.
Thanks for sharing video.
🙏from Indonesia.
I just visited the volcano again and wow it’s such a view I have a family home on terceira because my dad was born there and moved to America age 13 so we go back every year and honestly it’s the best experience ever since I live in California life never stops and it’s always go go go but there it’s so relaxing and it feels like you get to it when you get to it. Honestly when I grow old and retire that’s the place I’m gonna live
Im azorean so you speak very well thank you :)
Which island i am from Terciera
Amazing video
How did you miss the cows on São Miguel Island ... I did visit just because the cows hahaha. I did even feed them on my walk in Sete Cidades was so cool

Santa Maria Island in Azores is the best and it is the most paradisiacal island of azores you didn't came :( . Please come at Summer :) .

I'm traveling to the Azores this week!
Hey Chardala, I'm planning to travel next month and just heard of this place. Wasit worth traveling during covid or should we wait ta bit? and how many days do you recommend to stay there? Thank Youuuuu
I’ve been enthralled with the Azores for a while now, and this is far and away the best video. I have seen pull everything together so I can show my cousin and convince her to go with me. :-)
My dream island 😍🏝️
Love that place
I lived on Terceira for 2 years and lived through the Great Azores Earthquake. I still have friends there. There are no extinct volcanos, they are only dormant.
Portugal e bom eu sou português obrigada por este vídeo
grandfather is straight from this island and wanted to visit it with him when he goes home
i just love my island
I'm originally from Brazil, but thanks to a DNA kit now I know that I'm 76% Azorean. I want to visit soon!
Great summary of your visit to the Azores, Jon, you really have an eye for beauty! I do hope you'll find the time to visit the rest of the country, ie, Madeira, and continental Portugal, at some stage. I reckon you will be amazed, particularly if going for the more off-the-beaten-track places! One thing that I noticed on the clip from your climb of Pico, is the similarity with the West of Ireland, especially with Connemara, and with some of the Hebrides, off the west of Scotland. That scree on the side of the mountain, on Pico, reminds me of what one may find on many mountain slopes near the Atlantic in both west of Scotland and Ireland, except for the type of rock. I wonder if the process for its formation is the same, that is, intense heat, followed by an intense cold which forces the water accumulating in the fissures to freeze, expand, and then crack the rocks. I'm no Geologist, though, just wondering...Have a great time on any of your future endeavors, all the best!
My great grandmother Mary Rosa was from this beautiful place😍
