While the Expedition is one of their oldest vehicles in their lineup it represents a time when things used to be much simpler for the brand before MFT was added. Pick one of these up while you can before Ford redesigns the vehicle with their latest technology. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
My thoughts on the expedition as an owner:My truck has never lacked power, and tows VERY nicely. Its got what I would consider to be the best turning radius for a truck of this size. Cigarette lighter? Really, why is that an issue here? I am not a smoker but I still think the lighter in a truck is important because you can run things from it and use it as a source of power (like the little amps you plug in and they have standard outlets which allow you to plug things in). And the comfort-ability in these trucks is above and beyond. The seats are really luxurious. I did a road trip from Oregon to Iowa, with 7 people and we were all comfortable because of the spacious interior. Plastic is an issue? Plastic is great because it holds up well and is easy to wipe down. Its an SUV, its meant to get dirty and be hearty. I like the plastic because I have hauled some serious stuff in the back of my truck and its been dinged and scratched and yet its still in one piece.
Man I agree it's one of the best trucks ever made !
I don't like how bias the guy talking about it was so negative. I got the impression that it has to be futureistic and space age. OMFG its a cigerette lighter who cares. And the dash and door panels are made of the hard plastic to stand up for years of normal wear and tear. If it was leather it would look nice and be soft but over the years it would look worse than the hard plastic that would be the same age.
Honestly, I like more old-fashioned cars. The guy's a great reviewer, he just has to keep his opinions to himself, is all.
It’s very interesting that many people criticize the hard plastics on fords dash boards and door panels, but if you look to dodge, Chevy and many others, they use hard plastics as well, even in high trim packages!
I've always loved the way the ford V8 starts up.
same here, man! from the 4.6 Modular to the 5.4 Triton and now the 5.0 Coyote, they all sound awesome at startup
Me to
my mom bought the 2003 ford expedition eddie Bauer with everything on it! I love it and still working fine
TheKillerace900 we had ours for 8 years and over 300,000 miles on it excellent car we have owned 4 total and currently have a 2010
I like how this reviewer is a little pessimistic. You know he's being honest and not trying to secretly sell the product.
Ford should really keep their V8s instead of putting Ecoboost in everything, and I am sure that the updated 2015 Expedition is better even though they should have put a 5.0 in it.
I totally agree with you that they should've kept the 5.4 and/or added the 5.0 V8. The main issue I see with the 5.4 is gas mileage, but the Ecoboost isn't much of an improvement. My mom's 2015 Explorer still gets in the high teens for gas mileage. Another common concern with the 5.4 was the spark plugs, but I believe they fixed that issue around 06. I have also heard turbo complaints about the new Ecoboost: the turbo could blow out and fuck the engine up pretty bad. It would be cool to see the 3 liter Powerstroke in the Expedition sometime.
Hey the 5.4 may not be as fast as the 5.0 but it sounds pretty good
This guys is very bias
jesus dude its only a 6 year old design...
The Limited is my favorite trim and i like how the EL is longer length.
old school this, old school that. why bother to make a review..
Bro I’m 20 and I don’t think it’s old school lol the car itself has class
In the Audi, it was most likely part of a smokers package which the dealer most likely installed, while this Expedition has it from the factory.
EL = Extended Length not Extra Large lol. I miss my 99 :(
Sweetie, I really don't know why you are so negative. I like your reviews, but sometimes, you seem to cloud everything. The Expedition is what it is... it is not designed to accelerate like a Mustang, but then again, the Mustang cannot do the things the Expedition does. My dad has one, a 2008 model, although it is a bit too big for me, he really enjoys it.
I agree totally
I agree he is so negative, what's funny is fast forward to 2020 & now he sounds like a Ford salesman
Armando Sturzenegger probably paid out
Well put hun
It's not that the market is dying per se, it's that the epa is killing it. I love when city people try to review a vehicle that rural people actually need.
I love when ford interiors looked like this the new interior is growing on me
Big, Solid, Reliable Spacious, this truck can tow toys and lots of people. It's got everything you need nothing you don't. This isn't a typical daily driver or city commuter, it wasn't engineered on the Nurburgring.... it's a hauler. You don't bring a Clydesdale to the Kentucky Derby... ugh. Oh and to answer your question, the Navigator has a solid LIMO/Executive market and will for a while, hence the reason why it is still built. Learn your automotive market little man. SMH. Traditional buyers? Pause...
2013 Expedition Limited EL owner here. Only has 95k miles, and it has been the best vehicle our family has ever owned. I love how old school and ancient it feels(and were is 20204 now). This thing is a TANK. It has never felt underpowered. Is it fast? No, but it will pull through anything. I have towed a heavy enclosed cargo trailer down to FL from TN for hurricane relief with it. Loaded with a pallet of water packs, and filled to the brim with clothes and emergency supplies. It towed like a champ. Now it has shown its age with some common issues like the heated and cooled seats no longer working, but its a cheap fix to replace a module under the passenger seat. Strict maintenance will keep these things on the road for a long time.
dude its a freakin suv how much power do you expect it to have, your Japanese/Chinese youre probably use to driven fast cars with 30000000 horse power, dude chill da hell out,
He wants it to hit 0-60 in 3.2 seconds
I been in one of these on a long trip from Albuquerque NM to Las Vegas Nevada, it was awesome!
We missed it too :) We'll make sure it's here to stay this time!
That is very true, that title does in fact belong to the Armada. Although in Ford's lineup, this vehicle is one of the oldest, the E-series still has that title
listen to that 5.4 roar
We try to honor every request, what car did you have in mind?
My aunt has a 2011 Ford Expedition EL XLT that she got used almost two years ago. She got it after she sold her 2002 Ford Windstar Mini van that had over 230,000 miles on it. Also it was getting old and started breaking down on them. She loves her Expedition cuz she has 3 kids plus her two grandson's.
The Crown Vic is no longer in production in the US
I just turned 16 but a full size SUV would be my interest in the future because I'm already 5'11" and I'm estimated to be 6'4", I will show great interest in this car if Ford still makes it because Ford is my favorite car manufacturer, plus my grandpa owns a 2004 and I hope to drive it within the next few months.
I'm buying one in February. Can't wait
Did you ever buy an Expedition?
the expedition is a great vehicle
Keep in mind, Ford is offering up to $4,000 in rebates to offset the cost, the Expedition's competitors are this expensive as well fully loaded
Yes and yes, we've heard Ford say all three lol
I'm 6'3 I won't need the running board or grab bar to get in in lol
We know people still need them, the title was in a joking manner, but you made some good points
This is my favorite generation Expedition! I love the looks and body style!
I own a 2007 version (EL) and I love it. We have six kids and this thing is great for carrying teens in every seat and all of their stuff. These are great for moving stuff because it's covered (unlike a pickup) and the towing is pretty good. Note: the 3rd row in a Chevy Tahoo is pathetic. The floor is too high and your knees are in your face, especially if you are an adult. It is basically useless!
i love ford expeditions better than chevrolet tahoe and suburban because you can actually fold seats completely flat! it looks nicer!👍👌😊
Could you do a 2015 Lincoln Navigator when they become available? Thanks! :)
The navigator is basically the same thing as the exposition
Why tou talking down on the car its a 2013 and its has my technoligy in it than some 2018 cars
It's so huge, it's awesome. I'd never see anything like this here in Ireland.
i had an 04 expedition and loved it. might get another soon
I like my 03 Expedition. One thing I don't like about the standard length is that you cannot get a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood in the back. My next Expedition will be an EL. What is the length from the back of the front seats to the tailgate? Anyone know?
I stopped watching when he redlined the engine on a cold start. Savage
I’m pretty sure that was just a rev limiter. That was 4K rpm.
Man...that's the same Triton V8 I got in my 03' F150. I love it, just got some repairs done and it gets better gas mileage, from 10.4mpg to 12.4 which is a super win. But the way that exhaust sounds, a Flowmaster 50 series delta flow would set it right😎
Sorry, we just don't like to sugar coat things. We realize its an older designed and acknowledged it. Sometimes negativity is good thing. It helps the product improve for the next generation.
You do know that it can be program right? With updates.
Best video on these I've seen.
you should make a video on the new one when it hits the dealer lot. I loooove this SUV. If i had the money i would buy one
10:05
I miss that sound on the new ones...
EL stands for Extended Length, not Extra Large 🤣
And the Navigator (Lincolns version) has driver AND passenger windows have auto up & down. Left out the rear independent suspension, which is a little incredible for such a heavy car, especially one capable of pulling 9,200
I own a 2008 FORD EXPEDITION EL Eddie Bauer edition.
I did a lot of research before I bought this SUV.
Reasons
1. Plenty of cargo space even after 3rd row seat I am able to put a a stroller with luggage.
2. 3rd row seat I am able to seat 3 full size adults while in Nissan Armada you can only seat two kids since there isn't enough head or leg room. The same with Lexus.
4. I like the gear box since it's in the center console and easier to change gears vs in suburban.
Plenty of room.
So for the el if you go with the el with the rear load leveling suspension, will that take out the sag in the rear end if your trailer is heavy?
I don't think that the Ecoboost V6 would be a good in the Expedition EL I'd keep it V8 that 5.4 is a bulletproof engine and it's a pretty powerful engine for what it was for. Ford please NO Ecoboost V6 for the Expedition, keep it V8.
agreed my 2000 f150 with the 5.4 has 258,000 miles and still going. ford needs to keep that 5.4
I seen the review on the 2015 Expedition with the Ecoboost V6 It seemed pretty strong but you can't deny that 5.4L.
honestly i think the eco boost V6 wont even be able to handle the weight of the truck... expos are at least 1000 LBS heavier than the f150s i just dont see a V6 running that truck. just my opinion tho
*****
hmm. i guess time will tell?
***** GM has made their 5.3 go from 300hp/~tq to now 355hp/380~tq. I'm sure ford can also do that with the 5.4.
My parents had a expedition and they hated it and then we got our tahoe and they love it better than expedition
My family has been through Tahoes Yukons and all those. We hated them all... we loved our Expedition.
My has to with expeditions but I'm not saying there bad and I'm not say there good but it's because tahoe and Yukon last longer my parents have a 2005 chevy tahoe and it's lasted for a long time and we are planning to get a 2015 we used to have a 2005 Ford expedition limited it only lasted us a 1month and broke down but i would like to see what ford does with this suv in 2017
Well I'm just saying our experience with our old GM Cars. It was a bad time... But I heard in 2016 Ford might make an Ecoboost V8
Ford Is Best. That will be great to have on the expedition
I agree.
Please,No v6!I love the v8!
lol its a v6 ecoboost now
Im poor, I cant afford this expensive shit! Lol
My uncle had a 2007 Black expedition limited. I have always liked they styling of this generation.
Good review! I have owned the standard sized Expedition and the Lincoln Navigator L which is just the blinged out version of this vehicle. If you don't mind the poor gas mileage and limited parking availability this is a great vehicle if you need a truck suv, otherwise do like I ultimately did and just get Flex. I just purchased a 2013 Flex limited with pretty much everything in Ruby Red, I'm also a D plan buyer though so that saved another $1700 on top of the rebates.
I just love this car. I’d get white but 8 seater black leather interior! I love the limited. It is my favorite trim!! 2011-2014
The music!!!.... ITS BACK!!!! :D
Just yesterday, I was sitting at work and thinking "The 3.5L EcoBoost would be nice in the Expedition."
Hey, Sofyan, those are some really sick sunglasses!
IM GONNA BUY ONE
@camaroz2855 Combined the tahoe and yukon do outsell the expedition. But that's not fair because they don't combine the navigator with expedition. The Expedition does outsell the yukon and tahoe individually.
My uncle has one and man oh man do i remember the long trips in saudi arabia from jeddah to riyadh to meccah it was such a fun comfortable LARGE suv that I WOULD SIT WITH 8 PEOPLE IN AND NOT FEEL CRAMPED AT ALL I Recommend yall to get these beasts before i totally buy them all
I wish ford would make the explorer bigger. We rented one one time and it was AWESOME!!! My dad and I were in love with it.
Is this still worth getting in 2022 ?? Looking into getting a SUV !
what about the town car (lincoln). is that extinct as well?
can you guys try too find a GMC Envoy xl or standard wheem base please thank you! :)
I miss the excursion, but this is pretty nice!
2001 Eddie Bauer. nuff said
Hell yeah!
That One Ford Guy ew no
Bro i have this car and its badass things other cars dont have like the winshield has a sensor for rain so when you jave your wipors on they wont move because it dont since any weight on it and when you have childproff on the doors dont open witch everycar does but when you turn off the car the doors unlock so you driver dont have to open for you
"As you can see this vehicle lacks power" as you can hear the tires squealing when he accelerates. And what's with his hate toward big cars, repeating dying segment, for the few buyers. Those things are in every parking lot.
You may not relize but theresn 2 cupholders in the front and back in the door theres another
I don't care what this guy says this is still the best full size SUV. Better than the Seqouia.
Me and a few bros took a road trip and rented these and was surprised the things it didn't have for the price of this bus the reclining seats were nice and it had plenty of room even with the third row down we had room for our luggage the engine packed a good punch but only off the line and the 6speed was constantly gear hunting and felt like it was slipping
I actually didn't like this car b4 but after owning this I got to know about this car it's not only comfortable, beautiful but powerful THE RIDE QUALITY IS SUPERB
my uncle had one but it was to big and it had the same motor as his f150 the 5.4 and it costed to much on gas but he just bot a 2013 ford f150 fx4 sport ecoboost white with all the decals peeled off. very nice!.
will they continue making the ford sports trac?
good, honest review. When you opened the back, I thought the third row seats were down. That thing is huuuge. I bet you could stick a fit in there.
Does he have to rev it up like that?
Please, make a review of the extinct Lincoln Mark LT pick up truck
yep. not to mention the live axle in the back of the suburban does not allow you to fold the seats into the floor and just how dated it is.
Doesn't "EL" stand for "extended length," and not "extra large?"
:) Happy Thanksgiving 2theRedline, and thanks I asked for a Expedition review and I got it.
And the track at the beginning is?
it looks gorgeous
yeah I think so my uncle works at ford dealer ship and I have been looking it up for some time now so I think so.
The expedition el is a awesome tank!
I like to watch car videos, but you're very negative on some cars. The Expedition is an awesome vehicle. Tried and true SUV. many 4x4 these days don't even have 4wd, let alone tow and carry people. Be more positive in you're reviews and mention the negative stuff in a more professional manner buddy.
this is a beautiful and as you as auto jouneralist your truly awful... you can pick out every flaw of a car but none of the good of the car... how about I pick out your short coming like your a grown man that is 5ft 7in lol....
so u expect every man to be tall?
Totally makes sense he’s flawed as a person because of something he can’t control, but god forbid he point out the flaws in this piece of shit expedition that Ford could’ve made changes to well before they finally did
We have an 05 expedition with 144k miles and it runs great but it only gets 14 mpg but in tennessee gas is 2.96 right now.
Full size SUVs...who needs them? I do! Im a 19 year old college kid who works in a office and travels 86 miles a day between school and home. I obviously need a full size 4WD SUV. But seriously though, nothing beats having that sense of security and a v8 rumble. Fords expedition is pretty nice and I think it drives well. I had an 03 Eddie Bauer Expedition that averaged 9-13 mpg and i loved it. But not not enough for me to keep it. I sold it and bought a z71 suburban which I love even more!
I don't understand, if he says the V8 can't pull the truck then why would u put a V6 in it???
My mom had a 99 and 01 XLT both with the 5.4
I have one the seme year. But my navegador need programing
Ecoboost v6? No... Ecoboost v8 yes!
Hunter Reynolds ikr lets hope they put one in I have a expedition to hp is these things are horrible but the torque plays it's part well
If you find a cigarette lighter in a luxury vehicle, often times it is part of a dealer installed smokers package
EL for extra large?
I always thought EL stood for Extended Length.
The Suburban is actually just as old as this vehicle. Really, the only up to date full size SUV on the market is the Infiniti QX56 or Lexus LX570
My mom has a 2007 with 66,000 miles . I was thinking the same thing with the ecoboost
Sir, here in the US, people are starting to care more about fuel efficiency. It's the reason why the F-150 sells more with the Ecoboost engine vs the V8s. Honda hasn't been putting cigarette lighters in their vehicles for over the past 10 years. The Explorer's sales have skyrocketed when Ford switched it to a car based unit with a 4 cyl and V6.
