English Media has a serious issue with putting valuation on players with no base. Toney in reality hasnt achieved anything, hasnt played for big clubs besides received 2 bans in 3 seasons so his attitude is questionable. Not worth the money talked about. Players scored more goals in Europe cost less than Toney. Considering his most notable season ever was thoroughly overrated (14 non-penalty goals in 33 games woooooo), the fact he only has two and a half seasons of experience in the Prem (12 minutes for Newcastle doesn't count), and the fact the only league he's ever looked particularly dangerous or overperformed in is the Championship, he'd be worth about 20-25m max without factoring in homegrown status even if he wasn't down to the last year of his contract. Maybe Brentford could defraud a Prem rival with money to spare out of another 50% or so. There's also his questionable character to consider, which makes him a risk, but he isn't young enough to be mentored or moulded into someone better.
Last season he was 78th percentile amongst European forwards for shot volume and 23rd percentile for non-penalty goals. Lol. He's 28 years of age and would be an asset for a Prem team fighting relegation with a long ball style or a Championship team trying to come back up. That's about it. His weird, cocky penalty taking style doesn't change that.
