Hi!!! Below is my short Bio
I am a Chief Engineer by profession.
I have been sailing for the last 14 years. Passed out from MERI Kolkata in the year 2008. Joined Seaarland Ship Management as an Engine Cadet, over the course I have sailed in the past with British Petroleum and Anglo-Eastern as well.
With the help of YT Channel Merchant Navy Decoded and the website www.merchantnavydecoded.com, we are trying to make this profession more transparent. All our endeavors are towards promoting good shipping companies, good colleges and sharing updated information about the same.
There are so many myths attached to this profession and so many fraudulent activities operational that sometimes even students with good backgrounds land themselves into bad Shipping Companies. Futures have been destroyed because of lack of proper guidance and this CZcams channel will try its best to help those who are in need to get into a good shipping company.
Along with proper information, we also aim at glorifying good Shipping Companies, good colleges, so that awareness can be created and deserving candidates do not miss out on an opportunity to join a good college or company.

Mr. X.. you will face challenges in every field even in merchant navy. as you are pursuing btech in computer science you should go for masters and continue your whatever job u r doing and keep patience for upcoming years and apply in others comapnies for bigger package. if you opt merchant navy you have to start from zero and another great thing big brother this maximum age issue is very bad to getting jobs. whatever you do keep in mind that don't ride on two boats simultaneously. I hope u r getting our point... make your future in tech. and gain experience...

Sir joining MERI Kolkata this year đ. Although I was getting MERI Mumbai as you recommended but considering all the factors like kolkata campus is very close to my home , my family decided to let me join in kolkata campus ..
I didn't know anything about this field , I searched about different career options as I was not sure about doing ground engineering..and then I watched your videos about merchant navy on 28th April 2024 , with in a month I prepared for my imucet and got a decent rank ..

Sir I am in class 11th from PCM ...what should I do for that ?? How hard and smart should I work ???
If you want to join merchant navy then tests and all won't be that hard but life on ship especially in beginning is absolute suffering
And if you wind in your cadetship days that you can't handle all that then you are stuck
So if you are going in then plan you want leave for 10 - 15 years atleast otherwise most probably u are done
And if you find it amazing during your cadetship days then no problem enjoy for as many years as you want

Yes, you can join MERCHANT NAVY. Because for joining the merchant Navy you need only 60% in pcm.

If u want life then be on land , if u want to join, join as deck officeer or GS.. but if u join in engine department life is life sometimes good ..sometimes worst .. depends on people around u ..and age of the vessel ...my advice to u is be on land and do some hard work ..money will not give u a peaceful sleep ..thank you
