Have you ever tried sorrel? This recipe is a great introduction to this lemony tasting green. I hope you try it!

It adds a cool lemony spin to a classic potato soup. Worth trying for sure!

It's not a very common green... but worth seeking out in Spring :)

We always had a plant in the garden By us (Detroit) at least, it grows as a perennial. We ate the soup (szczaw) but we also made a green sauce which we put on hard boiled eggs. I still make the soup a couple times a year but do not make the sauce. In our recipe there is less potato and we added sour cream. It was nice to watch the video. Thank you.

Sorrel is one of those plants that just isn't sold in stores. But definitely worth looking into in Spring! Let me know if you end up trying it:)

I've only tried Sorrel in my salads. They grow really well in a garden :) I thought the flavor was pretty decent but probably not my go to green in a typical salad.

Love that you're familiar with growing it! It's a strong flavor in salad for sure. I only add a few leaves here and there if I'm eating it fresh. In this soup it's pretty tame though. Let me know if you try it!

Whoa. I've never even heard of sorrel. I'm where I'd even find that...

I know, crazy how there's food growing all around us that we never see in any stores! It's easiest to find at farmers markets. I'm not sure I've ever seen it sold in a standard grocery store before.

That is really new to me(as i am new to eating seasonally). You said you grew it yourself, but is it truely difficult to find in our stores? I am Canadian like you,by the way.

Hey fellow Canadian :) I don't think I've ever seen sorrel in stores, even health food stores. But it it can vary so much in different markets. It's pretty easy to grow if you have a garden, but otherwise I'd check out local farmers markets when they first open up and someone there might sell it. It's definitely worth seeking out, it's yummy, the leaves can be eaten raw or thrown into a salad as well.
