Yes use the Grid listener please and ignore the dedicated listener. The Grid listener will NOT be seen by the Installer Wizard but that is fine... don't worry. To use the grid listener: su - grid make sure it is running. lsnrctl status make sure the db is registered: lsnrctl services Then login to the db and register it: su - oracle sqlplus / as sysdba alter system register Although most of the time it will be already registered.
Ahmed, After setting up X11 forwading on the Putty host session and with Xming icon launched in the host session right lower corner, xclock would not come up ! It would come up inside the VM environment only but not in my host window environment ! Under root, echo $DISPLAY and xauth list showed nothing. What would be the implications if I just install grid and Oracle 12c inside my VM without Xming ?
Your tutorials are great but you have to explain all the terms which you are they aren't understandable by a newbie. For example, why create CRS ? what is CRS? WHY Create FRA what is FRA? Why are you creating a clone of Pre-built VM Appliance? Why do we need XMING? Thank you. By the way, I love your videos just wanted to give you my feedback and questions that I have in my mind.

+Camilo G You receive error because you haven't configured the xauth. Fix that first and you should be alright.

As grid user, you start the ASM, not the CRS. Use srvctl to start it.
