Was blessed to see them in a coffee house during my senior year of H. S. Have loved their music for the last 57yrs. No other harmonies can come close to these gentlemen.
In 1964 I bought a 4 track tape for my car. I could only afford one tape and I bought Joe & Eddie "Walkin' down the line". I loved their harmony and their different take on some of the songs that were popular at the time. Eventually I bought other tapes but that was the only tape I ever wore out! Thank you so much for posting the videos.
Joe S. Starr, my deceased best friend posted this and Im sure would be absolutely blown away that any relative of his would ever see this let alone appreciate it! It was a dream of ours to do a documentary about Joe And Eddie and the fact they seemed to be mostly shut out of folk music history despite the fact they were both culturally superior and artistically superior to every folk group of the time. I only ever found out about them by chance , but it changed my life forever
Agreed, Chris. They were brilliant and it's hard to comprehend why they're not better known and appreciated. Their harmonies were among the very best I've ever heard. I wish you'd been able to do that documentary.
Hi Joe! How wonderful you were named after him! His voice was phenomenal and I remember him practicing his scales diligently and he and Eddie practicing their diction so their words would be clear. I knew Joe when he and Eddie were starting out and met them in San Jose in the early sixties. Watching Joe take off when they did John Henry was exhilaration!!! Do you know if Eddie is still alive today?
What a wonderful album by a great duo!! I've tried numerous sources to find the title track. Are you able to post "Walkin' Down The Line!?" Whether or not you can or do, thank you for posting these videos!

Joe Gilbert is my uncle and thereby named me after him.(I'm Joseph D, as he was) Thanks for representing my family in such a proper manner.
He had such a powerful voice and the partnership with Eddie was so good! I always wondered what happened to Eddie..
