The festival opens Mar 02 with Grammy-winning guitarist Tomatito's elegant musical stylings. He'll be accompanied by a full ensemble that includes his son, José del Tomate, on guitar. Guest dancer Karime Amaya, grandniece of Carmen Amaya (one of the most honored flamenco dancers in history), will join the musicians at points throughout the evening. On Mar 09, renowned dancer Alfonso Losa presents a polished new flamenco dance work. Espacio Creativo reflects Losa's love for dance in its broadest and most respectful sense. In his own words: "the creative space of flamenco dance is like the universe: defined, but unlimited." Losa will be accompanied by live musicians and guest dancer Concha Jareño. Mar 10 sees Alfonso Losa back at the Berklee Performance Center as one of four incredible dancers that make up Gala Flamenca. Gala Flamenca captures all the beauty, power, and passion of flamenco, and also features dancers Manuel Liñán, Paula Comitre, and El Yiyo. The dancers will be joined by a full music ensemble including guest singer Sandra Carrasco. The Festival closes Mar 13 with the dazzling singer Maria José Llergo, bringing a contemporary edge to the flamenco musical tradition. Tickets start at $30, reserved seating.
