  • An angry lorry driver sounds his horn continuously as he arrives at the Dover unable to enter the Port and leave the UK.
An angry lorry driver repeatedly drove in circles round a roundabout sounding his horn in frustration at the shutting of the Channel crossing and trying to force his way through.
The irate trucker was so enraged he could not get into the Port of Dover in Kent that he launched his own mini-protest by making a racket and annoying residents.
Footage showed the driver trying to force workers to let him through the closed entry road by driving towards them and continuously sounding the HGV's horn - only stopping right in front of the orange cones.
    Filmed 21st December 2020.

I live in Dover - and it’s been heartbreaking to see all those good folks that can’t get back to see their families at Christmas. So many people stuck in their cars and their lorries. The Dover community is doing their best To look for any problems. And help if can but Portaloos and refreshment facilities could be a good lesson for the future. Hope you get your good folk back soon! Merry Christmas. And best wishes from Dover.

@@911HRW to be honest, as a hgv driver who has worked throughout all 3 lockdowns, i can tell you the biggest cause of potential spreading is down to the lack of adherence to any guidlines or rules by the big companies and their RDC's. Sainsburys in haydock had drivers walking through 2 closed doors & into the office to hand your paperwork in, no hand sanitiser present, aldi's rdc in rochdale, no masks worn by warehouse staff, drivers have to unload own wagons with electric pumptrucks that do not get their handles sanitised after each driver. Lol was at strensham services 2 weeks ago, they turned off the automatic entry doors so everyone had to push a door handle, it makes no sense.

As for drivers CPC that’s just a tax. Have to do 35 hours in a classroom , at your own expense if agency. Cost me £350 plus hotel . 7 hours a day. And over those 5 days you can be told the same thing every day. Though I hear it’s changing.

Minimum 11 hours shifts but you’d normally do 14, if you got a Monday to Friday job more often than not you’d be compelled to work the Saturday for 9 hours and they’d call that getting you home early. After a 70 something hour week you’d take home a pay check that barely clears minimum wage.
That’s what you get after paying about $3000 to get your license. I’m angry at myself for hanging in as long as I did.

@Harry W Drivers are quitting in droves, any driver time errors on the tacho can result in fines several times your weekly wage, often these won't be your fault. It could be as simply as going into a services for a break and not being able to park. Your regularly being pushed by clueless transport administrators on delivery times based on what Google maps are telling them, not taking into account road works, or other traffic delays. Most drivers are very angry and stressed a lot of the time. Do your self a favour and look for something else. not to mention in a lot of cases you can earn more stacking shelves in Lidl, than passing 2 driving tests and maintaining a HGV license. I know hundreds of drivers, and they have either quit the profession, or are trying to quit the profession. I honestly can't say I know anyone who wants to stay in the industry. 4 generations of my family have been involved in trucks or buses, and about 30-40 of us have entirely left the industry in the last 10 years to the point I'm not aware of a single family member left in it.

I think the issue is that there were men stood in the road not allowing the truck to pass.
The driver was sounding his horn to make them aware of his presence, but they were blissfully unaware of the truck they were blocking.
As long as the driver continues to use the horn for it's intended purpose, they'll eventually realize they're blocking the road and move out of the way.
