  • To celebrate our 2 year anniversary of living in Samoa, we wanted to do something we hadn't done before. One of our amazing viewers made this possible. We are SO grateful to Peetah for the gracious gift of letting us spend the day with his AMAZING family and visit the beautiful islands of #Apolima and #Manono. If you have never been, you have to go, and there is no better way to make this epic trip than by having Mika be your tour guide! We HIGHLY recommend this day excursion for locals living in Samoa and for those visiting Samoa! It was seriously one of the most wonderful and memorable days we've had while living in Samoa and just one of our most favorite family excursions of all time. And the FOOD was INCREDIBLE!! We seriously can't say enough good things about this amazing day and hope you enjoy coming along for the ride!

    I am so moved by this episode. Breathtaking! I’m speechless.... still trying to absorb the simplicity, yet majestic characteristics of these islands. Loved how those young children find joy in a game of volleyball with a make believe net held in place by another child. The smile on their faces and the sound of laughter is so genuine. A child in the western world will probably find it difficult to appreciate the creativity and the improvisation of what’s readily available for the sake of pure happiness. Your host really deserves two thumbs up. That spread for lunch ....yummy! That size two.... well roasted! Congratulations on your two year anniversary in Samoa. This was such a beautiful gift! Such a priceless experience!🙏😀

      Sorry to rain on your Samoan parade, but that brown girl got that barefoot adventuring habit from those palagi kids in NZ. I wouldn't be surprised though if some of her father's fearless Jandal wearing adventuring spirit also has rubbed off on her.

    That's our family wharf and family on Manono where they left the island. It's where my mother was born and raised. Beautiful place in the 1970s when I was a young kid attending the Salua Primary School there. Thanks Jamily TV for sharing your videos.

    Thank you for this beautiful video👏🏾👏🏾❤ My mum is from Apolima/ Manono. personally I haven't been to samoa or my mother village, but the passion and ❤ she talks about her homeland draws me nearer. so when the boards open I would love to take my aiga there. so I know more about my culture. thank you for this video, going to show my mum, she will probably say that's my aiga 😁😂❤

    Happy 2nd Samoan Anniversary Fam! Been an amazing journey to see how things have transpired over the last 2 years or so :).
    4:16 _Leiataua_ is the prominent Chiefly title in Manono and has ancient family ties to A'ana and Aiga-Le-Tai districts in Upolu, roughly translated it means The Fish of War/The War Fish - Le (The) I'a (Fish) Taua (War). My Mum's family is from Mulifanua where our family home has ocean views of Manono.
    4:55 You're probably already aware but just in case, the Apolima harbour/inlet is a collapsed Volcanic Crater where the arriving boats sail over the collapsed part. EDIT: Still haven't been to any of the Islands you went to, just Upolu and Sava'ii so far, would love to go to Apolima one day and see the stars on a clear night :).
    What a great way to celebrate 2 years, better times ahead 100! - Alofa'aga from Australia to you all: Joe, Alisha and your Aiga

      Are u a leiataua as well big papa? Cus thats not true lol. Le i'a taua does not translate to fish of war cause that does not make sense. Ur close tho. It really means The Important Fish. Im a leiataua myself.

    • @LC__15
      @LC__15 Před 3 lety

      @Moseh Lewi No, My Uncle, my Mum's half Older brother was a Leiataua (they share the same Mum). His dad was from Lepuia'i and that's what he told me awhile back but he's since passed away 2 years ago at the age of 90 so I can't confirm with him if he told me that incorrectly or if I heard wrong but it's something I always thought that's what it meant but I'll concede to you if that's the true meaning as I'm not a Leiataua at all.

    • @mosehlewi3081
      @mosehlewi3081 Před 3 lety +1

      @@LC__15 its all good i mean it is true its related to war..but just that gramatically le i'a taua cant translate to the fish of war as ive said it doesnt make sense. If that was the case it'd be le i'a tau. But le i'a taua makes sense to be the important fish. Taua=important. And Lepuia'i is home of Leiataua Letaua. Its important to make that distinction. The supreme chief of Manono is Leiataua Lesa who is also the original Leiataua whos estate is Luatimu/Faleu/SaLe'iataua.

      Alisha and i have enjoyed reading your commentary big papa and Moseh because you are both so civil in a time when people who don’t see things in the exact same way usually aren’t nice to each other. So thank you for each of your contributions to the comment section and to helping us understand more about Samoa! Love to you both! ❤️❤️❤️

      @@JAMilyTV i mean thanks to you guys for even giving us a reason to talk about it lol...u guys are awesome and when i grow up i wanna be just like u Joe lol. And btw a famous history is Manono is the home of Tamafaiga and his empire/government. He was also a Leiataua but his name Tamafaiga became a prestigious name or title upon itself so hes popularly known as just Tamafaiga. He had a pa called pa le soo dk if u visited it Joe and family. Its the "unfinished wall" it symbolizes his 99 wives and he was looking for the 100th and he was in the process of courting her in fasitoouta, that village otw to faleolo airport joe im sure u seen alot by now its after faleasi'u, but alas it was a trap to assassinate him and indeed he died there as he was trying to eacape to his ships at the shore. And so his wall or fence is unfinished to this day and it is a mataaga in manono. He was a great person but a bit cruel as hed just take any village taupou for himself and he'd just do whatever he wants in any village. Thus he was assassinated in Fasitoouta by a man named Tui'umi. Named that because he was supposedly very tall. A man from the Aiono family of Fasitoo. Ok that was the story guys lol.
