  • There's a big new update to Simrail along with a Cargo Pack DLC. In this video we will take a look at what's in the cargo pack, drive the new ET22 and I'll give you my thoughts.

3:46 Text on the yellow background says:
Maximum pressure: 0.15 MPa (1.5 BAR)
Maximum fill (limit) of the tank: 95%
To the left of that on the black board it states the cargo as Crude Oil
Fun Fact: for "throttle" or power control, these locos use a steering wheel from a polish made car - FSM Syrena 105

In real life, train drivers don't feel like holding down that pantograph compressor button for so long, so they use a wooden block to lock the SSP contactor (pantograph compressor contactor). This is also simulated in SimRail. Just click on the SSP contactor (it's in the same electrical cabinet where the main battery switch is) and select 'lock closed'. Then wait for a while and you can raise the pantograph. You just need to remember to unlock this contactor afterwards by clicking on it again and selecting the 'lock opened' option.

I love this! There’s no way I would’ve figured that out in-game myself. IRL, sounds exactly the sort of thing railroaders would do.

'That's just the world we live in' is actually 'that's the world we allow to happen' though.
If the paid early access DLC really is to help fund the main game then they should just state such a thing.
I do love the game, and dispatching is a lot of fun.

The DLC was made by a third-party company, so the third party reaks in the most (my guess) of the money of the DLC. Also routes in Germany and USA coming in the future are third-parties who want to use SimRail's foundation.

Yeah people bitch about giving a game company a little money but than turn around and give some dk head streamer 100s to sit and play dumb games that makes sense

the DLC price is a bit absurd for what it is, especially when it's 50% of the base game's price. Game companies get away with it because there are enough fools that buy it, no matter the cost, and as long as that happens, "you get what you pay for" will never apply to video games. But the thing about supporting the devs, Steam takes 30% of the sale price (it's a flat rate that applies to everyone, and the reason we now have $70-100 games) and this was developed by another party, so the actual devs of SimRail likely don't see much of the money

Out of all Train Sims with ridiculous DLC pricing, atleast the SimRail team deserves it the most.

I’ve really been enjoying Simrail. All the locomotives have uniqueness. I like the AI runs the trains till a player takes it over. Makes it easy to hop in for a bit and run the route without having to dedicate 3 hours. I only play online. The server is quite active and several of the dispatchers use a mic and are fun addition to coordinate with. Reminds me of ATC when I fly. I’ve been geeking out watching Polish GoPro videos on the EU07 and learning to read the sign and signals without the hud on.

Yeah it’s been great for me it runs really well on Steam Deck as well probably the best of all the train sims which is kind of surprising being one of the newest ones. Very well optimised I imagine their Bus Sim they are doing will be great as well when that arrives.

Just to give a bit of thecnical background... Old locomotives used dc motors. To keep this simple, the higher the voltage (and so the current) applied to the motors, the higher the torque generated. To regulate the voltage applied, rheostats are used. The amount of power is reguated modifying the resistance beethween overhead wires and traction motors. So when you rotate to the first notch the wheel, you engage the rheostat and the resistance is the higher possible. Rotating the controller up to the 21st position gradually reduce the resistance providing an increase in voltage to the motors. In the 21st position the rheostat is completely excluded. However, the power generated is not enough to push the locomotive up to it's top speed. So rotating the controller in the 22nd position connects the motors in series-parallel (from 0 to 21 motors are connected in series). You get two branches of 3 motors each. The rehostat is connected again and you restart from the beginning the exclusion (up to position 36). Connecting motors in series-parallel increase the current flowing through them and so the power generated. Eventually, from position 37 to 48 you connect motors in parallel obtaining 3 branches of two motors each. To conclude, you see the amperometers moving one afther another because each one is dedicated to one of these branches.

    SimRail vs Derail Simulator.... preference?

    • @thesteelrodent1796
      @thesteelrodent1796 Před měsícem +3

they're very very different games. SimRail tries to be an ultra-realistic train driving/dispatching simulator, where Derail Valley is more like a somewhat realistic thrill ride, so it's really more about what you're interested in. Whether you prefer one or the other depends on what you like to do.
DV is great, but the map is tiny and running the same short routes over and over quickly gets dull. I've played 130 hours of DV and honestly don't know what to do in that game now. The concept would work great as multiplayer, but at that point you effectively have the exact same game as Railroader, which is also sort of realistic, but a slightly different concept.
SimRail is for people who want that realistic experience, and since it has multiplayer, you get to socialize while chugging along in your little train. It's refreshing that it's set in Poland, instead of every bloody game being set in Germany or the US, but makes it harder for the devs to attract the parts of the community who dislike not being able to pronounce of the name or recognizing any of the landscape

I think the DLC should be 10 bucks instead of 20 but at the same time. How many DLC has TSW released? 1 per month or so? And just because it hasn't an early access tag does that mean TSW is a finished product?

Hi just an idea that the game fernbus has had an updated that was released on the 17 of may 2024 and I think it would be really cool if you could have the time/chance to review the new scania interlink HD. Also a few months ago like December last year to January this year there was also another bus that came out which is the vanhool astromega and the vanhool altano TX. Also they come with a price and I understand if you don’t want to purchase them but if you do I would like to see some fernbus videos with these buses in then. If not that’s ok. Keep up the great work.

  • @PlayJasch

The DLC is fine, the patch is the biggest joke in my recent memory. The long-awaited shunting, is basically not included. Which makes the DLC in Early Access very lame. Driving freight from A-B gets old without having to do some drop-off of freight. Sure if your forte is to do the same scenario again and again, it is a good patch.
