    Personal red flag for me: “fast paced multi tasking environment”

      I am autistic and can't multitask. Employers can be bastards.

    Great. Thanks. I came across 5 out of 7 you mentioned!! My best red flag was when I went to the interview and had to wait for the CEO who was arguing with someone over the phone. He gave me the job after a 30 mins interview. By the time I went home, the contract was in my inbox. When I read the contract, some tasks did not match the job spec, nor what we discussed. I had to decline the offer. He sent me a rude email! What a lucky escape!!

    One time I was interviewed for a assistant store manager position and my recruiters slipped out that there has been five store managers in the past six months. Yikes! The flag was soooo red I didn't accept the offer.

    One of my red flags is when I asked the Hiring Manager if I could meet the person who would be my Supervisor and they said “No.”

    Great tips. My biggest red flag was talking about other "difficult teams". 🤔

    I had an interview last week. The woman told me the person I would work with is difficult and there's a lot of pressure. I was so glad she said that. I was already leaning towards not taking the position but that helped me pull the plug without even getting to the third interview! I hope they can find the right person for the position though because the mission of the organization is wonderful!

    Thanks for this advice. 💙
    I recently spoke to a contact officer about a role and I realised that was job/team where my soul goes to die.
    They wanted me to assist them, but also wanted me to “work independently” (totally fine) and to not talk/interact with any of them or ask them questions because they were all too busy - and they didn’t have any regular team meetings and they didn’t use project management software to track what everyone was working on and what tasks needed to be done.
    So they wanted me to work from home without human interaction (which might be a dream job for some people, but that’s not me) and to be psychic. I didn’t apply. 😅

    One of my biggest Red Flag 🚩 is bait & switch

  • @jackcarraway4707
    @jackcarraway4707 Před rokem +1

    Important tip: look for the red flags when you're dealing with the recruiter or hiring manager prior to setting up the interview; interviews are stressful and time consuming. One thing I like to do is if they ask if I can interview on a particular day I say I'm busy and offer another day. This shows if they respect my time. If they can't negotiate something as simple as scheduling an interview, imagine negotiating your salary.

    In one interview I had, I asked the interviewers at the end what they enjoy about working at the company. All they could say was that the pay was pretty good and the benefits are nice. They also pulled an "Oh, you have experience in this program? Name the specific menu selection for this niche task." I never heard back from them, and I'm glad for that!

    I'm heading into my second interview with the director in two hours. I have a list of questions in different sections because I refuse to have the same experience I had with my previous director. Like, thoughtful and detailed questions. This is a new team that was recently created at the org. This happened at my last job, so I'm okay with that. Before I left, I had a good supervisor who saw how I was being treated and refused to go down that path with me. Kudos to him. Before I left, I got a paper published.

    My personal red flags are: 1) the company has recently completed outsourcing certain large/key segments of their workforce = U.S. salaries and benefits cost too much and we may look at additional areas to reduce domestic resources; 2) the company is going through a phase of modernization and transformation = ask what is the forecasted duration to reach the intended goal and what is envisioned the workforce will look like at that point; 3) the company has a long and publicized history of employment lawsuits pertaining to a variety of discrimination = understanding that change has to start somewhere, try to find out if the employment makeup looks like hot cocoa inside the cup but only the whip cream is showing on the top, or if you will be the token so they can say, "Well, we've checked off EEOC requirements because we hired one/a few in these categories: minorities, female manager, nonbinary/LBGTQ+, veteran, physically/mentally challenged, non-Christian." However, if you are a person who identifies as any, some or all these segments of your being, if it feels right do accept the opportunity and challenge to show the true benefits of diversity and inclusion. Then open the door for others who may not get considered if they had to relay upon networking with stereotypical representatives of company leadership.

    @01:07. Today LinkedIn suggested an Amazon position for me. The red flags started coming up when I read _"You will have the resources and time necessary to understand, scope, and deliver these solutions."_ .....which to me translates as "you'll be stressed out and over worked to the hilt!". Why else would an add say you'll get enough time/resources to do your job ?

    Do you have suggestions about when and how to address your inability to perform or provide an answer in the affirmative with regard to a couple of requirements identified in the job posting that are generic and boiler plate requirements in 99% of job postings? I know they aren't allowed to ask and I am not required to disclose various ongoing health conditions, but I don't know how forthcoming I should be about not being able to do certain things that a lot of people take for granted. I'd be interested to know your thoughts.
