It seems like that's the secret of all these dynasties. Which makes sense. If you win multiple championships in a few years, you're going to face all sorts of teams.
Orr said the same thing about his Bruins. I think the same is true for the Islanders and the Oilers.

Hadn’t seen any of this footage until just now. That shorthanded goal by Lemaire was beautiful, textbook hockey. To me, it looked like he waited until Goodenough looked up from the puck to pass it, and got the perfect poke check. Flyers were pressing from the power play, so Lemaire had open ice for the breakaway. Wrist shot, low, stick side, that he probably practiced a million times as a kid. Good stuff.

@@djshamrock729 That’s crazy, and might be the most hockey thing, ever. I’m from Baltimore. Before we had the Ravens NFL team, we had the Colts, who moved to Indianapolis, back in 1984. Led by Hall of Fame quarterback Johnny Unitas, they were a powerhouse of a football team in the late 1960’s> early 1970’s. One of Unitas’ favorite targets was wide receiver named Raymond Berry. He made the NFL in spite of a few issues. He was shorter than the average WR height, was blind in one eye, one leg was shorter than the other, and he had arthritis in his hands. That didn’t stop him from making it to the NFL, along with an interesting practice routine he did when he was kid. Apparently, he watched his favorite college team’s WR, and learned all the routes he ran in the bowl championship game his favorite team won one year. He spent hours & hours by himself, running those routes over & over, and it made him good enough to eventually make it to the NFL.
Might not be as epic a story as the steel puck, but it’s shows the length some of the greatest athletes will go to achieve their goals of playing at the highest level of pro sports. I love a good story, so thanks for sharing that with me.🙂

      Gary Dornhoefer.
Oddly enough, he wasn't in any mood to pat Robinson on the back after getting crushed earlier against the boards. It was an absolutely clean hit, but so devastating that the ref probably assumed there MUST have been something illegal about it.
The video doesn't show the long break that immediately followed the play, as Forum personnel discovered that the boards -- which were NOT removable, as in most other arenas -- had been slightly dislodged, and struggled to straighten them out.

The Flyers won their two Cups in 74 and 75 due to the creation of the WHA which depleted the Bruins, The Canadiens and the Black Hawks. And the WHA gave the Flyers the greatest Mulligan of them all. They got Bernie Parent back as Flyer owner Ed Snider traded Bernie to Toronto in 1971 because Bernie let in one bad goal the year prior. No WHA and The Flyer are still Cupless in thier almost sixty year history.

Parent played the entire series against the Leafs, then the first game loss to the Bruins in the semifinals. The official word was that Parent "pulled himself", but many suspected that Shero made the switch. The Flyers won the next four straight with Stephenson. After the first two losses in Montreal, most expected Shero to switch, if only hoping to change their luck, but he stayed with Stephenson.
