  • Various activity on Connecticut's Valley Railroad during the last weeks of August, 2018. We see switching, the Steam Train & Riverboat regular train, and the Essex Clipper Dinner Train. Mikado 40, built by ALCO-Brooks in 1920 is the mainline engine during this period.

Nice video! How recent was this? I went a few days ago and 97 was getting worked on in the shops

Excellent video, loved the shots of them moving 97. Also, what will the VRR do with the timber train coaches? Possible passenger car additions?

Any update completion of 97? Surely love for a tripleheader with 40, 97 and 3025 altogether!

Sorry about that! But I'm just glad to hear that 97 will be back anytime soon anyway!

Where has 97's whistle been kept all these years?

ebtmikado I'm looking forward to hearing that whistle again, such a unique sound! The combination with the bell makes it better!

If all the forces are with us, it is hoped that we will hear them both within a few months. That bell, BTW, used to be 40's. They were switched 20 or so years ago, when one had problems, and the other engine was not operating at the time. After repairs, they were never switched back. I do not remember which bell had the problem.

ebtmikado Wow! I certainly never knew that. Kind of strange to think what that would sound like if they were switched back but kept their whistles.
