  • I had a great, very positive, car leasing chat with Matt Woodward from Carparison Leasing today to discuss the UK Vehicle Leasing industry.
    Check out Carparison Leasing at bit.ly/3GYyHA1
    I hope you find it interesting as we cover subjects such as why people lease, why leasing might be a great option for you as opposed to PCP, the semiconductor shortage/car industry delays, why there are still some great deals available, looking for the deal rather than the specific car and much more.
    We also look at how the car leasing industry in Europe (UK) differs from the USA and how things may change in the future, if leasing is still misunderstood in the UK? and how you can secure a car lease with poor credit history. We look at why people often lease vs buy in the UK and what the attraction is to car leasing vs traditional ownership.
    We also discuss some great deals on secured stock available via Carparison Leasing such as the Tesla Model 3 Long Range, the Volkswagen ID3, and some Ford Focus stock that is in stock and ready for delivery.
    Links to the deals Matt mentioned in the video are here : -

    Finally got round to watching, very interesting, I used to be on PCPs, but the last couple of years have switched to leasing, as with my PCPs I wasn't keeping them anyway, same cars were about £100 less on PCHs, so paying over the odds for them, I returned a Seat Leon and got stung for damages, was about £1,200 which I was not happy about, managed to log a complaint and agreed on paying £200, so always worth fighting!

      Always Chris. Most companies are pretty fair these days and repair costs for any genuine damage very reasonable too. Several years ago Lex tried to charge me £3k+ for “damage” to a car that was in perfect condition. I complained and got it reduced to zero in a single phone call. Luckily things are generally much better these days.

    Nice scoop Jim. I'm using my equity from a PCP deal pre-covid to get me into my 1st lease next. I'd not heard about this lease comparison company before, so it's good to have another website to check out the deals.

    Yes, great idea for a video, very interesting.
    I had never heard of them either, their deals seem very good.
    I tried to order 2 deals today but they don't do Northern Ireland 😠

      Oh really. That’s a shame Neil, thanks for watching mate. I’ve spent quite a bit of time with work in Northern Ireland and am very fond of the place and the people 👍

    As leasing becomes more mainstream do the lease companies have plans to offer test drives? I ask this because Dealers will, inevitably & understandably, start to get increasingly pee'd off with customers using them to test drive cars but who then toddle off to a lease company rather than buying from them.

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  Před 2 lety

      I doubt it John as they don’t hold any stock. I think the manufacturers would get pretty fed up with the main dealers if they didn’t allow it too so I think we’re probably safe.

    Interesting information. Can you option up a lease car, for example choosing the colour, interior etc?

      Yep 👍

    • @andrewb9790
      @andrewb9790 Před 2 lety +2

      You can ... but don't forget you have to hand the car back so any options you choose are dead money. I've leased an Octavia for 2 years and now have a Kamiq, both in Energy Blue. I saw no point in paying extra to choose a different colour as I'm never going to own the cars.

    Ummm... I've very recently handed back a 18 month old RS3 because it was £10500 in positive equity. All depends on what car you choose. Guaranteed no money back at the end of a lease. If you hand back a PCP car to same dealer wanting to upgrade you're much less likely to be charged for any minor damage. Assuming a lease company won't overlook anything and go over it with a fine tooth comb.

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  Před 2 lety

      The used prices at the moment are through the roof so there are a few cases like yours right now but it’s still bit all that common even with things as they currently are. I dare say you paid a handsome deposit and monthly payment compared to an equivalent lease deal too. It’s not always for everyone with every car mate, it’s just usually a great way of doing things.

    • @SB-hr5yr
      @SB-hr5yr Před 2 lety +1

      @@DefinitelyNotAGuru I agree, horses for courses. Admittedly it was pre-COVID and it was a low spec model. I think the deposit worked out to be less than 2k , £453 a month. Looking at similar deals now for leasing or PCP and you're looking at 200 plus pounds a month more. I sold it through carwow. Was going to part exchange it for a new range rover but the waiting list is over a year so thought better of it.

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  Před 2 lety

      Yeah, another point I always make is to lease when the car is on a deal rather than focusing on a specific car. At the moment for example you can get a BMW 7 series for the same cost as a 5 series but next month it could switch. Horses for courses anyway mate as you say 👍

    • @SB-hr5yr
      @SB-hr5yr Před 2 lety +1

      Exactly! It was how strong the discount and deal was that made me sign in the first place. If it had been full price I wouldn't have bothered. If they had told me in 18 months time it would be 10,500 in equity. I would have obviously bitten their hand off lol.
